The Yamanote area is located on a small hill on the south side of Yokohama Chinatown. After the opening of the port in Ansei 6 (1859), this place overlooking the sea became a foreign settlement following Kannai. Many Western-style buildings that retain the appearance of the time, including the wooden Japanese and Western eclectic house "Yamate Museum" built in 1909, have been left or relocated and scattered in the greenery. Many of the shops, galleries, and cafes outside of private homes can also be seen inside. In addition, there are many places you want to visit, such as foreign cemeteries and small museums.
The symbol of the Yamanote area is "Oka Park where you can see the harbour". You can see the vast scenery of Yokohama Port below the Yokohama Bay Bridge. "English Rose Garden", one of the most famous rose places in Japan, is also located in the park.
