Located directly across from the north exit of Yonago Station, the Yonago Cultural Center (nicknamed BIG SHIP) is Yonago City's most iconic cultural facility. The building, with its expansive glass facade and streamlined design, exudes a modern aesthetic, symbolizing a ship setting sail along the Sea of Japan, earning it the affectionate nickname BIG SHIP.
The center boasts a large theater seating approximately 2,000, as well as small and medium-sized conference rooms and a multi-functional performance space. It regularly hosts concerts, performances, plays, lectures, and civic events, making it a key cultural hub in the San'in region. From international performances to local community events, the venue offers a stage.
The plaza is also filled with artistic ambiance, featuring numerous art installations and modern sculptures. The open plaza is also frequently used as a venue for markets, seasonal festivals, and outdoor performances, making BIG SHIP more than just a cultural center; it becomes a stage for Yonago residents and tourists to share their lives.
