[Oita Prefecture/Yufu City] Nostalgic hidden gem of architecture

Former Hino Clinic

I was thinking about going on an architectural tour of Yufu, and this was recommended to me.
It's the oldest Western-style building in Oita Prefecture!

It was originally built as a hospital around the Meiji period, but it's a pseudo-Western-style building, designed and constructed by master carpenters at the time, imitating others. 🀫The entrance porch has a Western-style exterior, and there are dragon carvings, and a chandelier hanging in the Japanese-style room, making for an interesting space where Western and Japanese styles blend together.

The detached house had floor heating, which was made to imitate the Korean ontsuku technique, and I was amazed at the high level of technology at the time. There were also displays of old X-ray machines, forceps, and other medical equipment. I especially like the Japanese-style room with a veranda facing the garden, which was used as a waiting room, because the sunset shining in is beautiful. 🀭 The veranda of the detached house is cute to take pictures with the crape myrtle. πŸ₯Ί 𓐄 ...
