Beijing is about to welcome the red leaf season at the end of October! Stop crowding Pofengling, and discover a hidden gem — Jin Hai Hu North Mountain Trail. Red leaves paired with lake views, free and no traffic jams!
🍁 Why choose this? 6 reasons that won me over
- Few people, peaceful: Much less crowded than Xiangshan and Pofengling, no traffic jams, no fighting for photo spots
- Stunning scenery: Huge area of red leaves, enjoy them all along the way; you can also see Haizi Reservoir, which on a good day looks just like Zakynthos Shipwreck Bay
- Super easy: Entire trail is stone steps, good condition, even beginners can walk it easily
- Very family-friendly: Pets allowed 🐶, kid-friendly 👶, fun for the whole family
- Zero cost: Not a tourist attraction, free entry 🎫 and free parking 🅿️, great value
🚶 Two routes, choose as you like
- Beginner’s autumn viewing route: For an easy red leaf experience! Turn right at the fork on the trail, 1 hour to complete, covers all the red leaf highlights
- Hiking enthusiast route: For those with good stamina, 8 km full trail, scenic and never boring
📍 Navigation & basic info
- Location: [Sanquansi] (Park your car, then walk 100 meters to the right from the parking lot to the entrance)
- Ticket: Free
- Parking: Free
⚠️ Must-read tips to avoid detours
- No restrooms on the mountain! Be sure to use the facilities at Sanquansi parking lot first
- Big temperature difference in the mountains, remember to wear a windbreaker
- The trail is stone steps, recommend wearing non-slip shoes; those with less stamina can bring hiking poles
- There’s a market at the parking lot, persimmons are super sweet at 1 yuan each, definitely try them!
