The Eastern Qing Tombs, located northwest of Zunhua City, Tangshan, Hebei Province, is the largest, most complete, and most orderly ancient imperial mausoleum complex in China. It is the burial site of five emperors of the Qing Dynasty: Shunzhi (Xiaoling), Kangxi (Jingling), Qianlong (Yuling), Xianfeng (Dingling), and Tongzhi (Huiling). It also includes the tombs of Empress Xiaozhuangwen, Empress Dowager Cixi, and more than a hundred consorts. The mausoleums are arranged east to west along the southern slope of Changrui Mountain, centered around Emperor Shunzhi's Xiaoling. Mausoleums of lower-ranking members are located farther from Xiaoling, and the tombs of empresses and consorts of the same dynasty are built next to their emperor's mausoleum. However, due to two major robberies in the 1920s and 1940s and subsequent damage, visitors to the Eastern Qing Tombs today mainly see the surface structures and the scenic layout of the mausoleums.
