When it comes to places in Beijing with stunning mountain and water scenery and outstanding elegance, I think Fangshan is the best choice! After all, the "Eight Scenic Spots of Fangshan" have already described the magnificent landscape here in almost every detail with refined language and vocabulary! They are: "The towering green of Dafang, the magnificent view of Xitian, the Shangfangshan Temple, the wonders of clouds and water, the three dangerous places of Hongluo, the fairy boat of Kongshui, the fragrant water of Jinshan, and the unique water of Baishui". The first sentence of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Fangshan" - "The towering green of Dafang" - especially highlights the majestic and beautiful mountains here! Why use "towering green" instead of "deep green"? Some people interpret the mountains in the north as "men" and the mountains in the south as "girls" in an anthropomorphic way. After all, the mountains in the north are mostly rocky, and the vegetation cover is not as lush and green as the mountains in the south! The mountains of the north are often described as steep and rugged, with towering peaks... The mountains of Fangshan are precisely like this. The aptness of the term "southern and verdant" can only be truly appreciated after visiting Fangshan and admiring its mountains! If you've visited Zhangfang Town in Fangshan, you'll agree that the "southern and verdant" aesthetic seems to have originated and become defined here! The flourishing forestry and fruit industry here also illustrates this point. Mopan persimmons are a nationally renowned premium fruit, and Sichuan peppercorns, peaches, apples, and even kiwis are all cultivated here. The Juma River, originating deep in the foothills of the Taihang Mountains in northwestern Laiyuan County, Hebei Province, flows continuously year-round as it passes through Zhangfang, nourishing the canyons and peaks on both sides. The scene here, with its competing peaks and interplay of mountains and water, resembles a breathtakingly beautiful scroll painting. Once you enter the Legu Silver Beach Scenic Area in Zhangfang Town, the mountain scenery here perfectly and delicately interprets the description of "large houses and overlapping greenery"!
To fully appreciate the breathtaking scenery of Legu Silver Beach, the best option is to hike up the mountain. There are three paths to the summit, two of which are plank roads built along the cliff face, and one of which is a glass plank road. In fact, the two plank roads, in my opinion, offer perfect protection from the scorching sun! The left path provides minimal protection from the morning sun, while the right path offers protection from the scorching sun after 1 p.m. This design is a natural benefit for ordinary tourists! The other path, a gently sloping concrete path, allows rafting enthusiasts to reach the starting point in the shortest possible time. While the path is easier to walk, it also takes away the pleasant feeling of admiring the scenery from a high mountaintop. But since you're here for rafting, you need to choose the right path to reach your destination as quickly as possible. However, for those who choose to hike up the cliffside plank path, the primary purpose of their trip, besides fun, is to enjoy the scenery. The biggest advantage of the cliffside plank path is that it allows them to enjoy the scenery without the arduous climb. After all, over 85% of the path winds along a gentle, flat path. Unlike most mountain trails, which often have steep steps and require constant use of hands and feet, this path offers a truly breathtaking view. In addition, the benefit you can get is like having your eyes with wings, like a bird or a drone, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery in front of you on the mountainside, on the edge of the cliff, in short, from a high place without any obstruction, while feeling the cool mountain breeze. That sense of comfort is almost synced with every moment of your hike through the mountains...
Occasionally, you'll experience a completely suspended, visually stunning glass plank road or suspended glass suspension bridge. For someone like me who's afraid of heights, both are as terrifying as bungee jumping or skydiving! Sometimes, just looking at pictures of people standing on the edge of something high enough makes my hands and feet sweat, let alone walking up there myself! But if I had turned back, I wouldn't have been able to capture or photograph the rest of the journey, or a significant portion of the beautiful scenery. So, on the glass plank path section of the cliffside trail, I barely managed to walk the nearly 200 meters, head tilted upwards, brushing against the edge of the mountain, and clinging tightly to my companion's hand. But when I encountered the suspended glass suspension bridge, I stopped there without hesitation! However, the glass suspension bridge between Lover's Valley and Tianzi Peak is actually made of three layers of high-strength, impact-resistant tempered laminated glass, making it incredibly sturdy, safe, and reliable. Although the bridge is nearly 160 meters long and has a height difference of nearly 300 meters, its outer edge is held up by thick steel cables and anchored to the rock. This provides multiple layers of protection, ensuring its safety and stability. Even so, I couldn't overcome my fear. So, after taking a few photos outside the bridge, I took a few more with my drone, and concluded my mountain adventure. My trip to Legu Silver Beach is now halfway complete. For a photography enthusiast like me, strapped to my camera, playing in the water is another great excuse to avoid getting wet. While some things are a little disappointing, I hope to find a way to relax and enjoy some whitewater rafting before summer ends! Just filming the tourists drifting down the mountain, splashing and laughing, is incredibly exhilarating, let alone experiencing it firsthand.
In fact, when it comes to the beauty of Fangshan and its advantages in tourism resources, Beijingers have the most say. Long before it became popular to visit scenic spots like Huairou and Miyun, Fangshan's mountains and waters had already become the first choice for Beijingers to enjoy the mountains and waters during the summer vacation or weekends and holidays. After years of change, the landscape remains as beautiful as ever. Transportation is now more convenient, roads are easier to navigate, and Zhangfang Town boasts well-preserved pristine natural scenery and rich cultural heritage. Take a break at Legu Silver Beach in Zhangfang Town, Fangshan! Seize the tail end of summer; don't miss this precious summer break. Let your body wander freely in the green fields like a horse, and your soul immerse itself in the mountains and rivers like the reflection of the Qingjiang River...
