Anren Ancient Town is located in the southeast of Dayi County. It is densely populated with more than 30 museums, as well as dozens of residential mansions in the style of the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. Many movies have been filmed here.

Anren Ancient Town is named after the meaning of "Anren, a benevolent person". It was first built in the Tang Dynasty. Most of the existing old-style neighborhood buildings were built in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, especially during the heyday of the Liu family during the Republic of China. The style combines Chinese and Western styles, and the solemn, elegant and generous courtyards have created a unique architectural style in Anren Town, known as the "high-quality cultural architecture in western Sichuan". Two Republican-style streets and a commercial street were developed on the basis of the original residential houses and streets. In 2009, the Chinese Museum Association officially awarded Anren the title of "Hometown of Chinese Museums". So far, Anren has become the only city in China named after a museum, forming a town culture based on the development of cultural tourism industry.

Anren Ancient Town is indeed a nice town with few tourists. It is rare to feel cool during the National Day. There are many restaurants selling tofu pudding and fermented glutinous rice. The soy milk cooked with firewood and the tofu pudding made with fresh brine are enough to make you drool. Unfortunately, we came too early and many shops were not open yet. I found a shop selling fermented glutinous rice, and it was so amazing. It tasted much better than the sweet fermented glutinous rice I usually eat.

I have a tram complex, and when I learned that Anren Ancient Town still uses trams, I was excited to go take pictures of the trams. After chatting with the driver for a few words, he allowed me to take pictures on the empty tram as a souvenir. If I had time, I really wanted to take a ride in this ancient town, which must be very interesting.

It's a good place to go on weekends. It has the flavor of the Republic of China. Many spy war movies in the mainland have been filmed here. It's also close to Chengdu. You can spend one or two days on the weekend to go there, stroll around the ancient streets, see the landlord manor of the big landlord Liu Wencai, take some photos, and then you can go back to Chengdu to have fun.

After walking a few dozen steps, you will reach the 100-acre campus of Anren Middle School, where you can see classrooms, foreign-style houses, school buildings, green trees and flowers, and the campus is full of greenery and flowers. There is also a large auditorium that can accommodate thousands of people and a towering bell tower, leaving behind the image of an old campus for more than half a century. It has become a famous school in Chengdu and has trained thousands of talents! It has become one of the highest institutions of learning in Dayi.

Anren is a place with rich cultural heritage. It is the hometown of a large number of military and political leaders during the Republic of China, including the famous anti-Japanese general Liu Xiang and the uprising general Liu Wenhui. The town has the Liu Family Manor, a national key cultural relic protection unit and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. There are 27 ancient mansions such as the Liu Family Manor Group and Liu Xiang Mansion from the Republic of China and Qing Dynasty.

Unlike the antique buildings with flying eaves and walls, this is a small ancient town with the style of the Republic of China. Everything is simple and elegant. The strange thing is that this style makes people feel the taste of the old times more than the antique buildings. When I stepped into Anren Ancient Town, it was a different and wonderful feeling. Everything was old. The grandfather on the roadside sold his homemade spicy tofu. The shops lined up on the main road were deserted. The shopkeepers did not solicit customers. They gathered together to chat about something. That different feeling probably comes from the "down-to-earth" here. It is not whitewashed, but it is really reassuring. Anren Ancient Town was built in the Tang Dynasty, and the old-style neighborhoods and buildings we can see now were mostly built in the early Republic of China. Anren Theater, built with gray brick walls, is one of the iconic buildings here. We walked through the small roads that looked like residential houses nearby. The wooden doors were very old, and the iron rings on the doors were also old and beautiful. The entire street is blue-gray, with gray bluestone bricks, gray roofs, and red lanterns dotted in between. The trees are all lush and straight, bringing vitality to the ancient town.

Coming to another part of the ancient town, compared to the old streets just now, this one is newly built. The floor tiles and the blue bricks of the houses are still new and neat. There are tram tracks on the ground, but no trams are seen, probably because there are too few tourists. This street is very beautifully built, and you won't feel bored walking along the way. Most of the shops on the street have not been rented out, so it is also very quiet here. Maybe because this style of ancient town is rare, my friends and I love it very much. No matter where we go, we look carefully with interest. The colored glass, the tables and chairs on the roadside, the crape myrtle flowers on the ground, and some interesting sculptures can make us stay for a long time.

The Republic of China-style Anren Ancient Town is quite unique. The town is not particularly well-known at present, so there are not too many tourists. It is recommended to visit.

I personally think that the ancient town is divided into two parts. One is where you can drive around, where you can visit several mansions and the Baoben Temple. If you want to visit the pedestrian street area, you should actually go to the Planning Museum of Anren Ancient Town first, which provides a detailed introduction to Anren Ancient Town, Liu's Manor and Jianchuan Museum, as well as three-dimensional model drawings. There is also a genealogy of the Liu family on the wall. The Liu family built shops, schools, parks, and theaters for Anren Town, and made great contributions to the economic prosperity of Anren Town at that time.



The old street of the ancient town is more lively than Shuren Street, with a more modern road surface. There are old mansions, shops or modern-style inns converted from mansions, cafes, traditional-style restaurants and teahouses on the street. The combination of these two makes it a rather special street. Hongxing Street is more like an old street, relatively quieter, and there are many elderly people living on this street.



Anren Ancient Town recommends delicious food, Youxuewang, small attractions to visit, Huagongguan, Paogelou, it is very comfortable to buy a few soy milk buns to take home before leaving, and the surrounding parking spaces are priced at 10 yuan

Note: If you have a short trip and just want to walk around the city, you don't need to consider this attraction. If you have enough time and like a more unique place, you can consider Anren Ancient Town.

This ancient town originally had many attractions from the Republic of China, which was equivalent to a tourist area. However, when we went there in July 2017, the entire scenic spot was under renovation, so we miscalculated and there was nothing to do. We just played games in the town’s cafe.

It took just over an hour to get to Anren. We took the Chengwenqiong Expressway and got off at Chongzhou West. It was not far from Anren. The signs along the way were very clear and easy to find.

I heard that Anren Ancient Town is more suitable for sunshine in late autumn and early winter. It is a very comfortable place with many unknown beauties waiting for you to find the peaceful place in your heart. Turn slowly and savor it carefully. It will bring you surprises and surprises.

I never had the chance to go to Anren when I was studying in Chengdu, but I finally realized my wish on the eve of graduation. It takes more than an hour to get on the bus from Shiyangchang Station (don't fall asleep, you need to get off halfway to go to the main attractions). I have heard of Liu's Manor and Jianchuan Museum for a long time, but I really felt the shock when I arrived. The magnificent and perfect protection of Liu's Manor's architecture is something I never expected, and I can't help but sigh at the financial resources and power of the overlord. Liu Wencai's Mansion and Liu's Manor are adjacent, and you can get a discount with your student ID. My roommate and I also ate a bowl of landlord noodles at the door (as shown in the picture), but it tasted like long-term noodles.

From these two places, you can take a sightseeing bus to the Jianchuan Museum. I went there in May. At that time, there were 20 branches. I only visited 10 branches in one afternoon. The waiters in each branch were dressed in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China. You can only enter each branch once, and you can get a stamp at the exit. The combined ticket is valid for two days. It is recommended that students who want to visit seriously stay in a hotel in the museum park for one night. If time is tight, just buy tickets for the branches you want to visit (student tickets are also available).

It's an ancient town in the style of the Republic of China period. Maybe because it's a remote place, there are not many people and it's very deserted. After walking around, I found a coffee bar to drink coffee and watch a movie.

It's nice to go out and have a walk. There is a small train, but the power was out and it didn't work. It's not like trying it.

Anren Ancient Town is not very commercialized and not crowded. It still retains the old stone streets, tile-roofed shops, and old-fashioned cinemas. The consumption level is also very low, like a forgotten town, everything seems to be stuck in 30 years ago. Most of the shops in the ancient town are pure handmade snacks and specialties, with very few handicrafts, and a strong childhood flavor.

If you have time, Anren Ancient Town is suitable for a leisurely stroll. It is also suitable to stay for two days on the weekend.

Put yourself in the shoes of the landlords back then and feel the luxurious life. The manor was so big that we almost got lost.

I have visited several ancient towns, but Anren Ancient Town gave me a completely different feeling. Maybe because of Liu Wencai, there is a bit of Western style. There are no white walls and no running water, which makes the whole town more approachable. Maybe the architectural style is different. I searched for a long time but couldn't find relevant information, so it's just my personal conjecture (but I always feel that the architectural style is somewhat similar to Nanxun. I just suddenly thought that this side is Liu Wencai's Liu's manor, and that side is Liu Yong's Liu's mansion... Could there be some connection...)

Compared with other ancient towns, Anren Ancient Town has a more humanistic atmosphere, because it is not a street where people live together, but belongs only to the Liu family manor.

The ancient street, quiet and beautiful, with many red slogans written on it... I like it very much. The main road of the ancient street is very wide, and the layout of the houses on the street is very neat. Most importantly, there are few traces of human activities. There are not many people on the street, and everyone is in good shape. On this sunny afternoon, walking along the street, I felt a kind of blurred sense of time travel.

I went to the long-admired Anren Ancient Town, where it quietly stood, guarding so many mansions and houses from the Republic of China, without being ostentatious or arrogant. Back then, Anren Ancient Town did not have large antique buildings like Huanglongxi. It is a historical, cultural, and recommended attraction.

In Anren Ancient Town, in such a peaceful town: the mossy stone road, the dog lying next to the bamboo chair, or the clear water beside the street, the old man fanning himself with a cattail leaf fan, the old man’s housekeeping with an ancient style… only then can I calm my mind and slowly appreciate the artistic conception of “the benevolent are at peace”. There are no flourishing flowers, no hustle and bustle of traffic, everything is quiet and comfortable.

After visiting the Liu brothers' manor, we came to this quiet old street. I believe that in a few years, this place will no longer be deserted. Walking through the old street, I feel that some pretentious nostalgic shops have been stationed here. What is precious is that the elderly and ordinary people living here have restored an era, and time seems to flow slowly here...

Looking through my computer, I found that I have hardly taken a group of photos of Anren seriously, and even the text is few. It is the same for people and things. If you get too close, you will not be able to discover its beauty. I have walked back and forth here almost 200 times. It is not stunningly beautiful. You will find a different world when you walk in.

Walking leisurely on Anren Old Street, I felt that it was quiet and somewhat desolate. The fine wood carvings on the old houses on both sides of the road and the mansion buildings lined up on the ancient street still remind people of the heyday of the past.

Finally I saw a place that looked like an ancient street, but only half of it was under construction. I have to say that I have never seen such a bad water source in an ancient town. There was a very dirty ditch next to the half street, which was a real eyesore. I don't know if there was not much water originally or if it was destroyed and polluted by people later. In my mind, ancient towns are all about small bridges, flowing water, green mountains and clear waters. But Anren disappointed me. I felt it was really unbearable so I didn't take a picture. I want to keep those beautiful impressions.

Anren Ancient Town is a very comfortable town, not very crowded, and newly built, with renovations on the original old buildings. In fact, it is the village where Liu Wencai lived, a big landlord. I ate their local blood curd, which was quite good. I continued to be intoxicated by oxygen and felt sleepy. In fact, such a town is suitable for staying in a courtyard for a few days, playing mahjong or something, and it is still very leisurely.

Tea here costs 10-30 yuan, but it's very hot today, so not many people drink tea. A small shop on the ancient street where you can stay is also a reading bar. You can take ten books (not textbooks) and the owner can give you a discount, as low as 70%.

The history of the small building should be quite long, judging by the carvings. The residents lead a leisurely life...

The ancient town does not have many characteristics. Since we went there late, there were few people and most of the shops were closed. Only a few small shops were still operating.

There are many teahouses and cafes in the town where you can rest. When you are tired, you can sit down and review the history of Anren. It is actually very pleasant. The one-day tour attractions in Dayi are scattered. It is not recommended to visit all the attractions. You can just arrange one place in one day.

The long old street was sparsely populated, unlike other ancient towns where small commodities were overflowing. There was a tramway, and my memory began to become confused again. The reality could not find an overlapping foothold in my memory.

I stayed in Anren Ancient Town for about an hour, and there really wasn't much to attract people. Most of the ancient towns are similar, so you can just visit Anren Ancient Town.

The new commercial street is mostly small shops, including inns, souvenir shops, and teahouses. It is ancient and interesting.

The quiet Anren Ancient Town! Compared to the bustling Luodai, it is much quieter here. There were not many people when I went there during the National Day! The Liu's Manor of the big bureaucrat and landlord Liu Wencai, the old street of the Republic of China Mansion, and various old-style neighborhoods. Like other ancient towns, this ancient town is full of various restaurants, souvenir snack stalls, etc., and there was also a "food festival" during the National Day. However, at the end of the ancient street, there is an antique building that no one disturbs, and an antique furniture distribution market. Here, I met a lazy cat basking in the sun.

The bustle and prosperity here are unique, not as noisy as "Jinli", but still simple and peaceful. The most impressive thing about this place is the various museums here, which are so densely packed that it feels like every home is a small museum, but they are so inclusive and open to the public for free. Then there is the poor "Liu Wencai", who died many years ago but his posters are still posted everywhere because his wealth is "hated", "overthrown" and "consumed" by people.

I went to Anren Ancient Town yesterday. It is worth a visit for Sichuan people. It can fully understand the history of Sichuan warlords in the last century.

For me, the quiet ancient town is a bit too depressed and deserted. Maybe it's because of the winter. But the ancient town with few people is the least damaged. There is no commercial atmosphere here, only the simple life atmosphere. The people live and work in peace and contentment, which is in line with the name Anren. It's a pity that I didn't get to try the local characteristics here.
