Anshun Bridge

安顺桥

Anshun Bridge is located next to Hejiang Pavilion at the intersection of Fuhe River and Nanhe River in Chengdu. It spans Nanhe River. Anshun Bridge has a long history, and its initial construction traces can be traced back to the Yuan Dynasty. In Marco Polo's travel notes, Anshun Bridge was one of the four bridges that impressed him the most. In the early 21st century, Anshun Bridge was rebuilt several times before it was restored to its original appearance. It was not until 2000 that the Chengdu Fu Nanhe Engineering Command redesigned and built it. After three years of careful carving, the brand-new Anshun Bridge was unveiled on August 3, 2003. When making travel guides, many people regard the "Anshun Covered Bridge" as the "Nine-Eyed Bridge". The "check-in beauty" mentioned on the Internet is actually the "Anshun Covered Bridge". Some scholars believe that the bridge described in the record of the bridge in Chengdu during the Yuan Dynasty in "The Travels of Marco Polo" is the Anshun Covered Bridge of the Yuan Dynasty. However, the "Anshun Covered Bridge" we see now is not the "Anshun Covered Bridge" in "The Travels of Marco Polo" as scholars say, but it is just a rebuilt bridge in a different place with the name of the "Ancient Anshun Bridge".

It is still unknown when the Anshun Corridor Bridge was built. The most accurate record about it is that in the early years of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, the Anshun Bridge was called the Rainbow Bridge. During the Qianlong period, the bridge was dilapidated and in danger of collapse. The then Huayang County Magistrate An Hongde (who wrote the plaque of Qingyang Palace) mobilized the people to rebuild the bridge and gave it a new name - Anshun Bridge, which was intended to be a good omen for peace and success. After three hundred years of wind and rain, the Anshun Bridge was destroyed by a rare flood. At the beginning of the 21st century, the Anshun Bridge was restored to its original appearance after several reconstructions. It was not until 2003 that the redesigned and rebuilt new Anshun Corridor Bridge appeared in a beautiful posture, becoming a beautiful night view rainbow in Chengdu.

Standing on the "Anshun Covered Bridge" and looking at the "Jiuyan Bridge", next to the bridge is a brightly lit bar street, a great place for young people to have fun.

When I got to the "Nine-Eyed Bridge", I was dumbfounded. How did it become a "Three-Eyed Bridge"? I came back and checked and found out that the bridge in front of me was newly built on the west side of the Nine-Eyed Bridge in 1988, and the original "Nine-Eyed Bridge" had been demolished, but the place name was still the Nine-Eyed Bridge. The Nine-Eyed Bridge, formerly known as the Hongji Bridge and also known as the Zhenjiang Bridge, was first built in the 21st year of the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty (1593) by Yu Yilong, the then governor. It is a large arch bridge with stone railings and stone bridge decks, 4 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 3 meters high, with 9 holes underneath. In the 53rd year of the Qianlong Period of the Qing Dynasty (1788), it was renamed the Nine-Eyed Bridge when it was repaired by Governor Li Shijie. It was rebuilt again in the 55th year of the Qianlong Period (1790). In the winter of 1992, after more than 400 years, the ancient Nine-Eyed Bridge, which witnessed the rise and fall and changes of Chengdu, was demolished. This ancient bridge with historical and cultural value was moved to Wangjiang Tower Park in response to the calls of experts and the public.

So just check in at the "Anshun Covered Bridge" and don't go to the "Jiuyan Bridge" as there is nothing to see there.

Many TV or print media content will use Anshun Corridor Bridge as a landmark of Chengdu, which I think is okay. Maybe it’s just because there are no other representative single buildings with a large enough volume and a long enough history in the old urban area. For example, the single volumes of Wuhou Temple and Du Fu Thatched Cottage are still too small. But the scenery is still good. It is located on the Fuhe River. The wide and long river surface provides enough visual width, and the surrounding modern high-rise buildings also bring a combination of ancient and modern style. Not far downstream along the Fuhe River is the Jiuyan Bridge on the first ring road, so transportation is very convenient. The section of the river where the Anshun Corridor Bridge is located is the Jiuyan Bridge Bar Street in the south and Chengdu Lan Kwai Fong in the north. Both are places where bars and restaurants gather, so it has become the main entertainment and leisure place in Chengdu today.

The overall architectural style is typical of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There is an antique archway on each side of the bridge, with flying eaves, curved railings and corridors. Especially at night, it looks more spectacular and exquisite with its antique charm.

Standing on the Jiuyan Bridge, you can see the Anshun Covered Bridge from afar. The bridge is brightly lit and its reflection is on the water. Together with the high-rise buildings in the distance, it seems a bit out of place yet just right in terms of beauty. When you come to Chengdu, I recommend taking a walk on the bridge. It is really beautiful, like a painting.

On one side of the Anshun Bridge is a famous local bar street, which is also a symbol of Chengdu's night culture. If you are tired of walking around during the day, you may come here at night, find a bar to sit down, have a glass of wine and listen to music.

The bright lights illuminate all directions, which is definitely a highlight of the surrounding area. It has a classical shape and there are houses on the bridge. This is the Anshun Covered Bridge. It is very beautiful and even more charming under the light. There is actually a restaurant on top of the bridge. It looks very high-end. It must be expensive to eat in it. However, I really can’t understand why such a beautiful covered bridge should be converted into a restaurant. It not only destroys the beauty, but is also meaningless.

This bridge is ancient and is called Anshun Covered Bridge. It is an imitation of ancient architecture. It is said that the earliest bridge was built in 1670. It was damaged and rebuilt several times. In 2002, in order to restore the ancient ethnic charm of Chengdu, this covered bridge was built in the original style. Now it is actually a high-end restaurant.

By The colonel |

It's a pity that it's not a historical site, but a restoration. However, the night view is also very good.

By Love |

Together with the Shangri-La Hotel next door, it has become a business card of Chengdu's history and modernity, with a nice night view.

By Pocahontas |

You can see this bridge from Hejiang Pavilion. I heard the night view is pretty good if you go there during the day.

By Tong Jing |

A unique bridge with a bunch of bars along the way, full of music and dancing every night

By Want to travel around the world |

Standing on the bridge and looking from afar, you can see the scenery along the Nanhe River. The prosperity of this city is fully displayed at this time.

The scenery on the other side is much softer, and there is still a big difference between the residential area and the commercial area.

By Sherry Marsanne |

It is near Jiuyan Bridge and Hejiang Pavilion. The night view is pretty good.

By Young old man |

Although the current one was built later, it is said to have restored its original appearance to a certain extent. I personally think it is still worth a visit. At least in my Chengdu photo album, there should be a photo of the night view of Anshun Covered Bridge.

There is an Anshun covered bridge between Jiuyan Bridge and Xinnanmen in Chengdu. On the bridge, there is a famous restaurant - the covered bridge restaurant.

By Tingzi_dinhoidinh |

Recommended shooting time: After dark, half an hour is recommended

Chengdu is a leisurely city. When night falls and the lights come on, the scenery under the neon lights becomes more beautiful as the night goes on. The Anshun Covered Bridge of Jiuyan Bridge is one of the places that best reflects the characteristics of Chengdu's night view.

By Backpacker nic |

Every night, many photography enthusiasts from Chengdu come to the Funan River to take pictures of this bridge.

Next to the covered bridge is Chengdu’s famous bar street, with the Jiuyan Bridge pub on one side and the famous Chengdu Lan Kwai Fong on the other.

By zhm_jinan |

The night view is very beautiful. You can go and see it if you have time.

By Backpacker's Notes |

There are many bars next to Anshun Covered Bridge. This is the most lively bar street in Chengdu. The view of Anshun Covered Bridge is more beautiful when standing on Jiuyan Bridge. People can pass from both sides of the bridge. There is a restaurant on the bridge. Many people come here to enjoy the night view and take pictures at night.

By Baby |

The covered bridge at night is so beautiful. It looks like a retro house across the river with a restaurant on top.

Walk across the covered bridge and walk to the other side of the bar. This side of the river is obviously quieter. Street singers can be seen everywhere on the stone benches, singing about Chengdu, life, and themselves. Stop and sit next to them to listen~

By Fannie |

The people of Chengdu know how to live. They converted a bridge into a restaurant. There are many bars on both sides of the river. The most famous bar street in Chengdu is right next to the bridge. The difference between day and night is really huge. There is a restaurant on the bridge. People can walk back and forth across the bridge and reach both sides of the river. It is a good place to take pictures. I went to Chengdu in May. It was almost eight o'clock in the evening, but it was not dark yet. I had time to take pictures on the bridge, enjoy the scenery, and wait until dark to sit in a bar on the shore.

By Arisaema curcumae |

At night, you can see the Anshun Bridge standing by the river from afar. It looks like a crystal palace under the lights. Standing by the river to enjoy the night view, you can hear the singing from the bar behind you. There are dazzling lights, towering buildings, dark blue sky, bridges and flowing water...

By zhm_jinan |

Located on the bar street, the night view is beautiful at night, it is a place to check in.

I can't help but want to complain about Anshun Corridor Bridge. The introduction of the Nine-Eyed Bridge in China-TravelNote is full of photos of Anshun Corridor Bridge, but the overview is about the Nine-Eyed Bridge. Maybe everyone stands on the Nine-Eyed Bridge to take pictures, but the photos are all of Anshun Corridor Bridge next door, so I have always foolishly thought that Anshun Corridor Bridge is the Nine-Eyed Bridge. Is this going to drive people with obsessive-compulsive disorder crazy? Anshun Corridor Bridge also has the origin of ancient buildings. The one you see now should be rebuilt in recent years. There are mythical beasts guarding between the arches of the bridge. It is not clear at night, and you can't tell which one it is even if you can see it clearly. It is said that the sixth son of the dragon likes water. I don't know if it is this.

By Photographer Li Hongyu |

Anshun Covered Bridge spans the Nan River and has a long history, with the earliest records dating back to the Yuan Dynasty.

It is mainly in the style of Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the night view is very beautiful.

I originally went to see the Jiuyan Bridge, but when I found out, I found out that the Jiuyan Bridge had disappeared. So I passed by Anshun Covered Bridge. I decided to take it easy and gain a lot from it. It is worth a visit for bee lovers!

By Mr. Z |

The service attitude is very poor and the price of the dishes is unreasonable. It wastes a good environment and seriously affects the tourism image of Chengdu.

By Zhaoge Xuanzi goes traveling |

There is a saying that goes "There is a magpie bridge above and a covered bridge below." It sounds impressive, but it is actually nothing special.

By Baileys |

Suitable for night view viewing, it is actually not the ancient Anshun Bridge mentioned by Marco Polo, but a new bridge rebuilt a hundred meters away from the old site, but the ancient charm of the upturned corners and flying eaves is still there.

By Living |

This bridge is quite unique, next to the Jiuyan Bridge

By Craftsmen of the Nineteen Dynasties |

I walked slowly along Jiuyanqiao Bar Street and arrived at Anshun Bridge. The bright and colorful bar atmosphere and the Anshun Bridge with lights made me feel the vitality of Chengdu. I really like this pace of life and look forward to this lifestyle.

When the weather is good, you can take photos from Jiuyan Bridge or tour along the river. It is best to tour at night.

By The Mountain is Silent |

The "Anshun Corridor Bridge", a landmark building in Chengdu, is no longer known when it was built. It was first recorded in the Yuan Dynasty in Marco Polo's Travels. When I first heard the name, I thought it was in Anshun, Guizhou. After a little thought, although the characters "Anshun" have similar meanings, they represent different places. One refers to the place name and the other refers to the name of the building. Both mean "peaceful and safe, with good weather and good harvests". "Corridor Bridge" means "Magpie Bridge in the sky and Corridor Bridge on the ground". The combination of the two is a wonderful blessing. The night view here is very beautiful.

By 我從漢朝来 |

It is especially beautiful at night. I recommend you to go and have a look.

By The Mountain is Silent |

The iconic buildings on the Jinjiang River in Chengdu are especially beautiful at night and are a must-see when traveling to Chengdu.

By China-TravelNote users |

It was under maintenance when I went there, so I didn't go up, but it was beautiful from a distance. I suggest you get off at Hejiang Pavilion and walk over. You can enjoy it slowly. There will be small bands performing on the roadside, so it's also nice to stop and listen.

By Wang Xiaodai |

Stayed there from day to night. The lights came on and the sky darkened, it was so beautiful. The bar street next to it was also very lively.

By Have fun |

I went there at night to see the night view, but the bridge was closed for maintenance. However, there were many street musicians singing around it, and it was nice to enjoy the river breeze and listen to music in this hot and humid August weather.

By Erche |

All the businesses above are closed, so it's nice to walk around the covered bridge and enjoy the scenery.

One of the landmark buildings on the Funan River in Chengdu, Hejiang Pavilion is the best place to view the night view of Funan River. It is still very beautiful under the embellishment of neon lights at night. There are many bars and teahouses near Anshun Bridge, and many people like to walk there. Walking there is a slow life.

The Anshun Corridor Bridge, not far from the Hejiang Pavilion, spans the Nanhe River. The inscription on the bridgehead reads: The Magpie Bridge is the most emotional bridge for ancient couples, and the Corridor Bridge is also the most emotional bridge for modern lovers. Beautiful! Anshun! I wish this place is also known as the Love Bridge... So, Chengdu people say: "The Magpie Bridge in the sky, the Corridor Bridge on the ground."

By Apple Pear Banana |

It has become a restaurant. It's a pity. The covered bridge is very beautiful after the lights are turned on. There is a bar street next to it, which is quite harmonious.

Anshun Corridor Bridge is located next to Hejiang Pavilion at the intersection of Fuhe River and Nanhe River in Chengdu. It spans Nanhe River. Anshun Bridge has a long history, and the initial traces of construction can be traced back to the Yuan Dynasty. In Marco Polo's travel notes, Anshun Corridor Bridge was one of the four bridges that impressed him the most. At the beginning of the 21st century, Anshun Bridge was restored to its original appearance after several reconstructions. It was not until 2000 that the Chengdu Fu Nanhe Engineering Command redesigned and built it. After three years of careful carving, the brand-new Anshun Corridor Bridge was unveiled on August 3, 2003. The bridge is 81 meters long and 6 meters wide, with a Ming and Qing style. The bridge deck and railings are made of bluestone. The bridge railings are carved with patterns representing traditional Chinese folk culture such as plum, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum. The bridge piers are equipped with two water beasts to stabilize the bridge. There is an antique archway on each side of the bridge. The bridge deck and archway have red walls and green tiles, flying eaves and corners, curved railings and corridors, which highly condense the essence of Chinese national architectural style. Today, the Anshun Covered Bridge is no longer just a "natural barrier" for people to cross the river. Smart Chengdu people have built high-end restaurants and leisure and entertainment venues inside the bridge. While bringing quaint cultural connotations to Chinese and foreign tourists, it has also given it new functions and meanings. It is a landscape bridge that integrates history, culture, commerce, catering and pedestrian functions.

In the morning, many local citizens come to the riverside for a walk. They sit on the benches under the willow trees by the river, enjoying the breeze and the beautiful moment of the willow trees fluttering. It is quite pleasant. There are a group of old men fishing by the river. The warm sunshine, fresh air, and long time are leisurely. The quaint Anshun Corridor Bridge and the surrounding high-rise buildings form a strong visual impact. The ancient charm and modern style are perfectly integrated here! There are archways with red beams and black tiles and flying eaves at both ends of the bridge. Looking out from the railing, you can see the beautiful scenery on both sides of the Nanhe River, and the Hejiang Pavilion in the distance is also clearly visible.

The transportation here is convenient: you can reach at least 3 bus stops and 1 subway station in 3 minutes on foot. It is also very convenient to take a taxi. You can easily reach the main attractions in Chengdu. Convenient for eating: there are many delicious foods around, from Haidilao Hotpot to Kang Erjie Chuanchuan within 10 minutes' walk; convenient for entertainment: after dinner, you can walk to the riverside or go to Lan Kwai Fong for a walk in 2 minutes;

It's quite pleasant to sit by the river and watch the night view.

The bridge itself should still be an ancient building, but now it has become a hotel, and there is no good scenery on the bridge, only the bridge itself is a beautiful scenery at night. Maybe it is a little interesting for people who are interested in the bar street to go there.

Anshun Kangqiao is near Jiuyan Bridge. It is an ancient bridge across Funan River. It is similar to Nanqiao in Dujiangyan, but not as big as the others. I heard that it is modeled after Nanqiao. It looks good when it is lit up at night. The difference from Nanqiao is that the covered bridge is now a restaurant and teahouse... It is not open to casual visitors. It is a high-end restaurant, so you can just watch it from a distance.

By Dolma Lhamo |

Anshun Corridor Bridge is one of the iconic landscapes of Chengdu. It spans over the Nanhe River, near the Hejiang Pavilion where the Fuhe River and the Nanhe River meet, and is also close to the Jiuyan Bridge and the Shangri-La Hotel. I heard that this bridge is an ancient bridge, but the current bridge body is newly built, with two piers standing on the river and three bridge holes, each with a bridge hole on the pier, which is conducive to drainage during the flood season. The building on the bridge body has two floors. From a distance, it looks like a pavilion, but when you actually walk in, you will find that it is a two-story building. There are restaurants and clubs in the building, but the building does not occupy the entire bridge deck, and there are corridors on both sides for pedestrians to pass. I personally think that Anshun Corridor Bridge looks better at night than during the day. At night, the lights on the bridge are turned on, and the lights are reflected on the river surface, shining and shining. Together with the landscape lights on the banks of the Nanhe River and the lights of the surrounding buildings, it constitutes one of the most beautiful night views in Chengdu. The Corridor Bridge does not require tickets, and there are few people on weekdays. It is worth a visit, or it is also a good place to stop and take pictures when passing by.

Anshun Corridor Bridge is one of the best night views in Chengdu. You must come and see it! At night, the lights are bright and reflected in the water of Funan River. The various bars on both sides of it are also a good place for Chengdu people to hang out. Handsome men and beautiful women gather here. Not far from the Corridor Bridge is Jiuyan Bridge, so there are often explosive events near the Corridor Bridge. It is simply the center of Chengdu’s explosive events: Jiuyan Bridge incident and Chengdu female man incident both happened here!

This bridge connects the Jiuyan Bridge Bar and Lan Kwai Fong. I often run from here to there at night, and I have been back and forth across the bridge countless times. I have never eaten there. It is a scenic spot in the entire Hejiang Pavilion Scenic Area. The covered bridge is open to pedestrians. The restaurant on the covered bridge used to be a representative of high-end dining. The beauty of Anshun Covered Bridge is that when the lights are turned on at night, Anshun Covered Bridge is magnificent under the reflection of light and water.

A sightseeing covered bridge was built between Anshun Bridge and the New Jiuyan Bridge. However, the sightseeing nature of the Anshun Covered Bridge has changed a bit. People can only view the Anshun Covered Bridge from a distance, and the bridge deck has become a place for high-end restaurants.
