Baiyan Temple is located in Jinxing Township, Dayi County, Chengdu City. It is located under a huge white sedimentary rock, hence the name Baiyan Temple. It is said that it was founded by two Indian monks, Kasyapa Matanga and Zhu Falan, in the 16th year of Yongping in the Eastern Han Dynasty. It is a Tibetan Buddhist temple. The stone road avoids the steep mountains and spirals upward. In the dense forest, ancient trees are towering and white flowers are blooming. The nine ancient ginkgo trees with the same roots are just outside the wall of the main hall. The stone road turns right under the cliff of Baiyan and goes all the way to the top of Baiyan Peak. Most of the churches in the West are built in towns. However, most of the temples in the East are built in deep mountains. The beautiful scenery and spiritual energy of the mountains and clear waters accompany the temples year after year. The mountain is high and the road is long, which just tests the piety of pilgrims. The monks of the Ming Dynasty planted thousands of ginkgo trees here, but only more than ten were left in 1989. One of the ginkgo trees can be traced back to the Xia and Shang dynasties. The nine ginkgo trees that grew from its old tree trunk are all over 8 meters tall. More than ten years ago, it was called a peerless tree and a living fossil by a TV program. It is one of the best rare tree species still existing in the world.

Speaking of preparation, it is very important to wear a pair of comfortable walking shoes! Water and food are solved at the gate of Baiyan Temple. However, if you want to take the small path to hike up the mountain like me, it is best to bring a bottle of water with you (don’t throw garbage around, bring your own garbage bag)~
About 10 minutes' walk from the foot of Baiyan Temple, you can see the monument of Baiyan Village, and now is the moment to choose: on the left is the winding mountain road, on the right is the jungle trail; easy on the left, hard on the right, the choice is yours. I have always loved tossing, so I chose the trail without hesitation. In fact, I don't really love tossing, but mainly standing at the intersection of the choice, the scene in front of me made me mistakenly think that the trail is to climb stairs in the mountains, where you can see the small bridge and flowing water, and listen to the wind blowing through the bamboo forest.
Unexpectedly, after walking a few steps, I found that the jungle trail was a real jungle trail, a mountain trail that required the use of both hands and feet. Climbing on the trail, within half an hour, the number of tourists walking around me became fewer and fewer.
Fortunately, many tour group leaders posted arrow signs on tree branches or other conspicuous places along the way. Otherwise, we might have really lost our way in the mountains. Although the path is not easy to walk on, the scenery is good, passing through the forest and walking on the lawn...
In front of Baiyan Temple, the nine-child ginkgo tree that had been waiting for me for a thousand years finally appeared in front of me in its entirety. Against the backdrop of the surrounding green trees, this ginkgo tree looked particularly special.
Going up the stairs next to the tree is the main hall of Baiyan Temple. Compared with other temples in Chengdu, Baiyan Temple is obviously different. The colorful prayer flags flutter in the wind, and the scriptures written on them make people feel at ease. On the right side of the main hall are prayer wheels and Indian pagodas. Circle after circle, it is the devout prayers and wishes of the people turning the prayer wheels.
Wandering aimlessly in the temple, you can see ginkgo trees everywhere.
If you have good physical strength, you can continue climbing the mountain. The hundreds of steps up the mountain road have been built into a spectacular Arhat Corridor, with Arhats on both sides of the stone steps. However, after such a climb, your legs will really feel weak.
As for the ginkgo trees, in fact, the ginkgo trees on the mountain are basically concentrated near Baiyan Temple. There are very few ginkgo trees in other places. When I went there, the ginkgo trees had already turned a lot yellower, but not yet fully turned.
Going to Baiyan Temple from late November to early December is probably the time when the ginkgo trees are the yellowest and most beautiful. Put on bright clothes and take a photo in front of the nine ginkgo trees in Baiyan Temple. It will be absolutely stunning!
The area that was originally free parking was fenced off and used as a shed for selling things, but the residents below occupied one shed and were charged 10 yuan for parking. When I went there, the ginkgo leaves were not yet very yellow, but I liked the feeling of climbing up and worshipping. There were not many people, so it was quite comfortable.
Baiyan Temple is located in Jinxing Township, Dayi County, Chengdu, more than 80 kilometers away from Chengdu city. Here, two peaks surround Baiyan Temple, and the mountain rocks are jade white, so the locals call it Baiyan Mountain. The temple was built on the white rock, so it was named Baiyan Temple.
Entering the mountain from Yujin Village, Jinxing Township, there is a cement road three or four meters wide, which leads all the way to the parking lot at the foot of the mountain. When you get out of the car, you can see the mountain as soon as you look up. It is the "Baiyan Mountain" that Baiyan Temple is named after. Going up the stone steps, the mountain road is full of colorful prayer flags. The ginkgo trees on both sides of the stone steps are folded above the heads of tourists, with their crowns like clouds, forming a long arcade. It is said that more than ninety ginkgo trees in the surrounding mountains were planted by Zen Master Rujian in the Ming Dynasty.
The road leading to the main hall is not too long, and we soon reach the second mountain gate. This is where the ginkgo trees grow most luxuriantly. Among them is a towering ancient tree called "Nine-child Ginkgo", which is said to be thousands of years old. On the surface, it looks like nine trees, but in fact, the nine trees have the same root. An old tree was struck to death by lightning, and nine new trees sprouted from the roots. All of them have grown into towering trees. Now they are the treasure of the Baiyan Temple's ginkgo community.
The stone steps continue to follow the steep mountain, spiral upward, pass through the Luohan Cave and come to the Baiyan Mountain Cliff behind the Baiyan Temple. The stone steps turn right under the cliff of Baiyan and go all the way to the top of Baiyan Peak. Looking back at the Baiyan Temple hidden in the golden ginkgo trees, the orange-yellow walls and red glazed tiles make this somewhat chilly late autumn feel warm, and it really feels like a fairyland.
It is located in Dayi County, Chengdu City. Friends who have plenty of time can go and have a look.
See ginkgo trees in autumn and peach blossoms in spring.
The autumn in Baiyan Temple is extremely beautiful. Baiyan Temple is a unique temple with Tibetan Buddhist characteristics in the non-Tibetan area, with prayer flags and prayer wheels. It also has Indian characteristics, reflected in the pagoda.
Spring has arrived, and Taohua Village is covered with brilliant peach blossoms. This landscape is created by a unique ornamental peach tree.
The flower is called Longzhu Peach. Unlike ordinary peach trees, which have branches spreading out in all directions, Longzhu
The branches of the peach tree grow upward in a cylindrical shape, with a compact and upright shape.
The petals are five or six layers long, large and bright, and very ornamental.

The ginkgo trees are very beautiful, and there are many beauties. The trails are lined with colorful prayer flags, which are very beautiful. It should be noted that Baiyan Temple is built on Baiyan, which is southeast-northwest oriented, and Baiyan Temple is located in the northeast of Baiyan. We live in the northern hemisphere, and the sun shines directly on the Tropic of Capricorn in winter. In addition, Chengdu has little sunlight in winter, so the best time to take pictures is from 9 am to 2 pm on a sunny day. After 2 pm, the sunlight will be blocked by Baiyan.
The autumn at Baiyan Temple is breathtakingly beautiful.
Baiyan Temple is a unique temple with Tibetan Buddhist characteristics in the non-Tibetan area, with prayer flags and prayer wheels.
It also has Indian characteristics, which are reflected in the pagoda.
The best time to see ginkgo trees around Chengdu is this week. If you want to go there, you can consult me. WeChat: ylin_54. We went there last week.
There is a 3.5-kilometer asphalt road from where the bus gets off to Baiyan Temple. Private cars can drive in. There are 3 parking lots along the way. Try to drive to the parking lot inside, otherwise you have to walk a long way. After entering, there are stairs and asphalt roads to choose from. The stairs are closer. In addition to the staircase corridor of Luohan, there is also a mountain road next to it. No matter which side you choose, you have to climb the long stairs. Whether it is tiring or not depends on yourself. Anyway, my feet were shaking after I walked down the mountain. The leaves inside were yellow and there were many people.
It is a good choice for a short weekend trip around Chengdu, but you have to choose the right time, because the ginkgo leaves are beautiful when they turn yellow. It is usually better to go in mid-November. It is not good to go too early or too late. The autumn in Sichuan is so short and charming.
There were almost no people there today, the air was very good, and I also met little squirrels and green snakes, which was a little mysterious.
This is definitely not a popular tourist attraction. There are few people, and even people who ask for directions are hard to find. Originally, there was a road that could drive directly to the top of the mountain, but due to the steep road, accidents had to be closed and only walking was allowed. Therefore, this greatly increased the difficulty of seeing Baiyan Temple on the mountain. I remember that the sun was shining brightly that day. My wife and mother found it difficult to continue to go up soon after they walked out. Only my father and I continued to move forward. Climbing the steep road, and there was no one on the mountain except us. The scorching sun almost made people suffer from heatstroke, and I was worried that my wife and wife would be bored at the bottom of the mountain. The biggest difficulty was that there was no notice and no one else could tell us how far we were. So I had to decide with my father to go down, so I didn't enter this Tibetan Buddhist style temple that is the only one in the western Sichuan plain closest to Chengdu. Even if I didn't reach the top of the mountain, I could feel that Baiyan Temple was in the mountain along the way, as evidenced by the picture. The trip to Baiyan Temple told me that everything is not as we wish. There are many landscapes in the world that we don't have the opportunity to see through one by one. We can only leave them to others or make plans when the opportunity is ripe in the future.
Baiyan Temple in Jinxing Township, Dayi County, Chengdu City, is located under a huge white sedimentary rock. It is shaped like white, so it is named Baiyan Temple. It is said that it was founded by two Indian monks, Kasyapa Matanga and Zhu Falan, in the 16th year of Yongping in the Eastern Han Dynasty. It is the only Tibetan Buddhist temple in Han area. The two-way bicycle road from Jinxing Township to the entrance of the scenic area is in good condition, but it is particularly prone to congestion on holidays and weekends. There is not much scenery to see along the way. The road is full of private cars for sightseeing (parking is 10 yuan/vehicle). Private cars for sightseeing are strictly prohibited from entering after 8:00 in the morning. The scenery along the way is really good, and during the Ginkgo Festival in autumn, you can also go to turn the sutra when you are down there.
It is a good choice to see the ginkgo trees in late autumn. . . .
Yellow leaves can be seen everywhere on the mountain, and the scenery is beautiful.
Unfortunately, the transportation remains the same. There is no direct bus from Dayi to the scenic spot, so you need to share a car
Every year when the ginkgo trees are in full bloom, you can climb the mountain and enjoy the scenery.
There are few people, no tickets or parking fees, suitable for hiking. It takes 3 hours to go back and forth to the Big Buddha Temple on the top of the mountain. It's a pity that the ginkgo trees are not yellow at this time, otherwise it must be very beautiful.
A peaceful and wonderful place. No business, no leisure.
I know Baiyan Temple because of its ginkgo trees. Every year when the ginkgo leaves turn yellow, there are large numbers of tourists coming to admire and take pictures.
As a temple, a Tibetan Buddhist temple, the incense is not very prosperous; as a tourist attraction, the management is average, and the road up the mountain is very steep! Friends who like ginkgo and like taking pictures can still come and visit Anren Ancient Town and taste the special Youxuewang~
We went to Baiyan Temple on November 29. The reason we went to Baiyan Temple was mainly because we saw a report on the Internet about a thousand-year-old ginkgo tree in a temple in Xi'an. In fact, in Chengdu at this season, golden ginkgo trees can be seen everywhere, and even the dozen or so in our community are golden, so I was not too excited before the trip, which led to the little surprise later... Baiyan Temple is located in Jinxing Township, Dayi County, around Chengdu, only 50 to 60 kilometers away from Chengdu. The two-way bicycle road from Jinxing Township to the entrance of the scenic spot is in good condition, but it is particularly prone to congestion on holidays and weekends. There is not much scenery to see along the way. The road is full of private cars parked on both sides (parking is 10 yuan/vehicle), and private cars are strictly prohibited from entering after 8:00 in the morning. There is no ticket fee for Baiyan Temple at present. There is a gentle slope up the mountain, which can be walked or taken by a sightseeing minibus for 5 yuan/person (you need to queue up when there are many people, or you can take a motorcycle for 10 yuan/person and get on the bus and go). The whole journey of 3.5 kilometers to the entrance of the scenic spot can only be walked up the mountain. The altitude in the scenic spot is not high, but there are several steep slopes and long steps on the way. You have to walk slowly. The road is full of falling ginkgo leaves, which is beautiful! There are several viewing points: Nine-branched Millennium Ginkgo, Baiyan Temple (White Pagoda, Sutra Pavilion), Steps Corridor, Stele Forest Mountain Trail, etc. You can take beautiful photos at will, and it looks a bit like Japanese temples and the White Pagoda in Chiang Mai! There are too many people, so densely packed. In order to avoid the crowd, you can only shine vertically on the sky, the ground, the wall, and the roof, and the result is not bad! Baiyan Temple is close to Chengdu and is suitable for family self-driving leisure tours on weekends. There is network signal in the scenic area but it is unstable. There are steep slopes on the mountain, so you need to wear sports shoes and flat shoes. The elderly should walk slowly and wear seasonal clothes, but you should be careful not to take off your clothes in a hurry after sweating while climbing the mountain. Keep warm and windproof. It is best to bring some snacks and drinking water to replenish energy (Yebao sold by small vendors on the mountain is 4 yuan/bottle). There are many farmhouses outside the scenic area, with food and accommodation included for 80 yuan per person. There are also many small restaurants and snack stands at the entrance of the scenic area, with prices ranging from 5 to 20 yuan per person. For a day trip in the suburbs of Chengdu, it is recommended to go back and forth on the same day, which costs only 30 yuan per person. For me who prefers to travel on a budget and take photos, it is worth it!
The beauty was beyond my expectation. Although it had just rained, the road was slippery and there was fog in the sky, it did not affect the beauty at all. Both the natural scenery and the temple architecture were very much to my liking. The golden leaves and the light yellow walls complemented each other, adding a lot of warmth to the cold autumn day. I was almost melted... The path to the scenic spot was lined with ginkgo trees on both sides. The residents living in this village were so happy. The cement road up the mountain was very steep. There were straight steps above the Arhat Hall. Everyone must wear flat shoes.
Self-driving route from Chengdu: Get off at Chengwen Qiongbaitou, turn right onto Chongqing Road, pass Qingxia Huaiyuan direction, and then there will be signs; or take the bus from Dayi, transfer to bus No. 12 and get off at Xiqiao, find a bread for 5 yuan, and set off quickly. The best time is until the first week of December. Believe me, you deserve it.
Go to see the yellow leaves in mid-to-late November, it's very beautiful. The service facilities are complete, no need to bring dry food
Every year in mid-to-late November, when the ginkgo leaves turn yellow, the nine-child ginkgo is the characteristic landscape of Baiyan Temple. In addition, there is a very old ginkgo tree in the temple courtyard. The entire Baiyan Temple is relatively small, but it has a strong Tibetan Buddhist style. The prayer hall and the white pagoda are very dazzling in the winter sun. Friends with physical strength can continue to climb to the top of the mountain past Baiyan Temple. The road is steep, and it is best for the elderly not to act alone. The air quality on the mountain is great, and the wind carries the unique freshness of plants. It was a pity that we went there in early November, and the leaves were not completely yellow. By the way, the blood stew sold by the farmhouse at the foot of the mountain is very tender and delicious, and you must try it!
Suitable for weekend trips, the temple is very beautiful, and it is recommended to view the ginkgo trees in mid-to-late November.
Because of the ginkgo trees, many photography enthusiasts come to Baiyan Temple, breaking the original tranquility of this Tibetan Buddhist temple. In fact, there are not many ginkgo trees in the temple, but several thousand-year-old ginkgo trees have yellow leaves, and from a distance they look like a beautiful golden cloud. In fact, Baiyan Temple itself is quite large, and you can also see exquisite Indian pagodas, prayer wheel corridors, etc. When you walk to the top of the temple, there are huge rocks that look like they are going to press you down. When I went there, the temple was already under expansion. Standing at the top, you can overlook the pastoral scenery of the Land of Abundance, and the scenery is nice.
This is an ordinary temple deep in the mountains (actually it is a bit special, it is a Tibetan temple, rare in the Chengdu Plain). 90% of people go there for the temple and the ancient ginkgo trees around it. Every year when autumn deepens, the temple and the cliffs are hidden in the overwhelming golden ginkgo trees, making it a great place for photographing ginkgo trees in Chengdu.
The golden temple, ancient ginkgo trees, and the proximity to the city make it a popular place. Of course, during the two weekends when the ginkgo trees are golden, the huge flow of people to Baiyan Temple is worthy of its reputation.
The yellow ginkgo leaves all over the mountain in autumn is a unique feature of Baiyan Temple. I went there twice in one autumn and it was really beautiful!
I went there by bicycle that year. I didn't know the road very well, so I took a detour to Qionglai, and came back to Chongzhou and Wenjiang. I set out at 7 am and returned to the city at 12 pm. Haha, I was exhausted and my feet were sore for a week, but the scenery was really worth it.
Baiyan Temple comes from a famous family with a long history. It has spectacular and beautiful scenery. It is easy to see the scenery and do mountain climbing exercises. It is a good place and worth a visit.
There are a lot of people on weekends, no tickets are required. There are many ginkgo and yam. ,, . . . . . .
The so-called lake should actually be considered a reservoir. There are few people on this road and the scenery is nice. The warm sunshine shines on my body as if it were spring. I vaguely recall the scenes of playing in the mountains when I was a child.
Nine Ginkgo Biloba Trees with Roots. I counted them twice and there were only eight. Maybe the stump next to it is one of them. The two trees in the middle have dried up with their roots, only the trunks are left, still standing.
Woohoo! As soon as we got off the car, we felt a chill creeping into our bodies. Our body temperature began to drop, and our hands gradually became cold. It was different when we entered the mountains. We immediately found a restaurant to restock our supplies to raise our body temperature. Two people, one had stir-fried potato shreds, one had bacon and garlic sprouts, and one had fried egg soup. Through the glass window, we could see the gravel road covered with ginkgo trees. It was so comfortable...
Looking for that piece of tranquility, that touch of breeze... The falling of leaves is the call of the roots, and the light flying and dancing is just to appreciate the upright posture...
Late autumn and early winter are the seasons of falling flowers. The golden ginkgo leaves are scattered all over the ground. You may feel that fallen leaves can also be described as brilliant. Walking in the ginkgo forest, you will see a golden scene in front of you. The grass under the ginkgo trees has been covered with thick golden ginkgo leaves. Everyone uses it as a background for photography. It feels beautiful to step on the carpet made of golden fallen leaves. The rustling sound when stepping on it also brings people back to their childhood games. At that time, guests who appreciate autumn, romantic couples, "photographers" holding long lenses, and "painters" with drawing boards all become a scene in the forest.
The maintenance of these temple buildings is not very good, and the ones at the foot of the mountain are even a bit run-down. The most famous thing about Baiyan Temple is the nine-child ginkgo tree at the entrance. It is said that it was a ginkgo tree that was struck by lightning and then regenerated. This is also a miracle.
After going there, I found that the best time is actually between late November and early December. It is recommended that tourists go out early to view the ginkgo leaves at Baiyan Temple, preferably around 8 am. Not only are there fewer tourists at this time, but the winter sun is more suitable for photography before 12 o'clock. Tourists who arrive early usually finish viewing and taking photos around 12 noon.
Ginkgo has attracted many photographers. At the end of November, I went there with my colleagues to collect materials. Although the weather was bad, we were lucky to see the ginkgo trees growing lush and with yellow leaves.
The mountain road was slippery, so we walked very slowly. Ginkgo leaves piled up under our feet, covering the sloping road. Although it was beautiful, it also made us worried. My backpack was completely wet, so I borrowed a plastic bag from a wooden horse to cover my camera and continued on as if nothing had happened.
In addition to exercising on foot, I was lucky enough to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Baiyan Temple and ginkgo trees along the hiking route. It was worth it and I recorded it. It is worth remembering.
1. Of course, it is the golden autumn scenery set against the backdrop of ginkgo trees. The "nine trees with the same root" originated from the Xia and Shang dynasties and are considered to be the best trees of all time. 2. Baiyan Temple is the only Tibetan Buddhist temple built in Han areas. The Indian-style pagoda is very distinctive, and the statues are quite "kawaii".
The road was narrow and it was difficult to find a place to park. From a distance, the temple was almost invisible, but Huang did see it.
Passing by the scenery, I heard passers-by say that the electric poles are too unsightly. Suddenly I felt that the beauty of the scenery really depends on a person's mentality.
Facing this old electric pole, I suddenly felt nostalgic. ... I didn't feel a bit of disharmony. Some scenic spots deliberately remodeled things that made people feel disgusted.
Behind us is the parking lot of Baiyan Temple. Going forward we start to climb the mountain... There is a road on the right leading to the parking lot halfway up the mountain. However, due to the steep slope, for safety reasons and to prevent the parking lot above from being too crowded, only local vehicles can pass!
I chose the small road instead of the highway. It's just a short distance but I still have to walk to the highway.
Baiyan Temple is a pure place for spiritual practice, not a place for sightseeing. We hope that pilgrims will worship Buddha and Bodhisattva with a pure and pious heart, otherwise it will go against the true meaning of pilgrimage. We also hope that they will be informed of the precautions and exercise self-discipline.
Baiyan Temple is what I like, hidden deep in the mountains, simple, quiet, facing the stars and the moon, accompanied by the gentle breeze.
The unique Tibetan style includes the common prayer wheels and the extremely exquisite Indian pagodas, which can be regarded as a precious treasure in architectural aesthetics.
The autumn scenery in November when the ginkgo leaves turn yellow is quite special. There are also traces of the ocean washing over the white rocks.
I have heard of Baiyan Temple for a long time but have never visited it. This is my first time going there just for Ginkgo. It takes 1.5 hours to drive from Chengdu to Baiyan Temple, which is located at the junction of Dayi and Chongzhou.
The car stopped halfway up the mountain and climbed up the stairs. Prayer flags were seen everywhere, indicating that it was a Tibetan Buddhist temple.
Baiyan Temple has a unique Tibetan style, with an exquisite white pagoda and prayer wheels. What’s amazing is that you can also find statues of Maitreya Buddha, Guanyin, Manjusri, etc. here. Perhaps Buddhism has the same origin, but the forms of expression are different.
The monks do not charge admission fees or incense money. Faced with the influx of tourists who come to enjoy the autumn, the temple chooses to open its doors. For this alone, I am grateful.
Get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, change your mood, watch the time pass, and watch the fallen leaves return to their roots. This autumn will be without regrets.
This fleeting beauty requires some luck. We have missed the best time this year, but it doesn’t matter. We can go back to the same place in late autumn next year!
