Jinjiang Theater, also known as "Chengdu Sichuan Opera Art Center", was built on the site of "Yuelai Tea Garden", the birthplace of Sichuan Opera. It was first built in 1908 (the 34th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign) and has a history of nearly 100 years. Today, it is still the "dwelling place" of Sichuan Opera in the minds of Chengdu citizens. In addition to the Sichuan Opera excerpts regularly performed by Chengdu Sichuan Opera House at the Wannian Stage in the Tea Garden every Saturday, there are also irregular performances of Sichuan Opera at Jinjiang Theater.
"Sichuan Opera Show - Legendary Face Changing" is the first large-scale stage play in the country that uses Sichuan opera elements as the main body, integrates acrobatics, dance, magic, etc., and uses modern sound, light and electricity technology and fashionable art means to showcase the customs and people of Chengdu.
The performance takes Sichuan Opera as its core element. While maintaining the artistic characteristics of Sichuan Opera such as singing, reciting, sitting, fighting, and stunts, it innovatively incorporates other art forms such as acrobatics, dance, magic, and shadow puppetry. This strengthens the artistic tension of Sichuan Opera and enhances the shocking power of Sichuan Opera performances from multiple perspectives and angles. In particular, bold explorations have been made in the audio-visual and appreciation aspects of Sichuan Opera, making it suitable for all ages.
"Sichuan Opera Show - Legendary Face Changing" uses the characters in the story as the main line to convey the development process of Sichuan Opera's unique skill of face changing.
The story takes place at the "Sanqinghui" venue in Chengdu, one of the birthplaces of Sichuan opera (now the location of the "Jinjiang Theater"). "Xiao Sanqing", who loves Sichuan opera, practices diligently, and his master decides to accept Sanqing as his apprentice. The beautiful "Xiao Huanhua" falls in love with "Xiao Sanqing" and they fall in love with each other. The bullying "Ma Dashao" snatches "Xiao Huanhua" with a sword and orders someone to spit fire to burn "Xiao Sanqing"'s face. "Xiao Sanqing" has to wear a mask on his face and wanders on the streets, but secretly practices the art of face-changing. In the end, he can change eight faces in one go and finally become a generation of face-changing king. "Xiao Huanhua" finally finds "Xiao Sanqing" after going through hardships, and the two join hands to make the Sichuan opera stage shine. One story and two characters condense the century-long journey of Sichuan opera people.
The play won the Chengdu City's Eighth Spiritual Civilization Construction "Five One Project" Play Award; in 2013, in the "First Sichuan Province Excellent Tourism Performance" and "Tourism Sichuan Good Plays Series" popular tourism play selection organized by the Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department, Provincial Department of Culture, and Provincial Tourism Bureau, it was rated as the first place in "Sichuan Province Excellent Tourism Performance" and the title of tourists' favorite tourism performance (festival) in the "Tourism Sichuan Good Plays Series".

Jinjiang Theater generally refers to Chengdu Sichuan Opera Art Center. Chengdu Sichuan Opera Art Center is the first comprehensive cultural and entertainment venue in China named after Sichuan Opera and mainly performing opera, funded and built by the government. It is the cultural industry base of Chengdu Sichuan Opera Theater and the center for Sichuan Opera performance, research, protection, inheritance and development. Jinjiang Theater is a multifunctional theater for comprehensive performances. Its decoration has the cultural connotation of Sichuan Opera. The viewing angle is designed for the best audio-visual effect. The entire theater is decorated in a magnificent, simple and elegant style. It is one of the few professional and modern theaters newly built in Chengdu.
Be sure to buy your tickets online in advance! It’s much cheaper than on the spot!
Jinjiang Theater is very close to where I live, just behind Wangfujing Shopping Center.
The whole performance is linked together by the story of a pair of lovers. It is easy to understand and will not make tourists who are not familiar with it feel confused. At the same time, you can also enjoy various Sichuan opera stunts such as fire-breathing and face-changing. It is still worth seeing.
It is still the "play nest" of Sichuan Opera in the minds of Chengdu citizens. In addition to the Sichuan Opera excerpts regularly performed by Chengdu Sichuan Opera House at the Wannian Stage in the Tea Garden every Saturday, there are also irregular Sichuan Opera performances at Jinjiang Theater. The most exciting and attractive one is the "Legendary Face-Changing Show of Furong National Essence", in which the "face-changing" and "fire-breathing" stunts are breathtaking, and the lighting effects are excellent. The theater environment is very good, with English, Korean and Japanese subtitles, and there are many foreign audiences.
The evening Sichuan opera performance of "Hibiscus National Essence" at Jinjiang Theater is really highly recommended! ! The stage effect is magnificent, the whole performance plot is complete, and the variety of Sichuan opera art displayed is rich. It is also very shocking to watch the artists perform face-changing, fire-breathing face-changing, puppet face-changing, cross-dressing and six-head face-changing on the spot!
Yuelai Tea Garden over 100 years ago, the modern Sichuan Opera Art Center, is now the Jinjiang Theater. In Chengdu, the first place that comes to mind when watching Sichuan Opera is here. There will be a Sichuan Opera performance of "Hibiscus National Essence" at 8 pm every weekday, and there may be an additional performance on holidays, and the time will also be adjusted. Tickets can be purchased on all major ticketing websites, and it is not too tight to buy tickets on site. Friends who come early can also drink a free bowl of tea in the nearby Yuelai Teahouse.
I was looking forward to the Sichuan Opera performance. The one-hour performance was really wonderful. The actors and the live performance masters were all great. At the end, the fire-breathing actor walked to the audience and performed once in each area. It was super close, great!
1. Buying tickets on site seems to give you a better seat than booking online. I bought a first-class seat (third row, first seat, in the middle) 1 hour in advance, and the stage feeling is quite good. 2. Although the ticket price is worth it, it is after all a Sichuan Opera Art Center, and it is really not worthy of its reputation. I would rather pay a higher ticket price to see a more exciting performance: first, the performance is perfunctory (except for some of the main actors), especially the three heroes fighting Lu Bu; second, the excitement is too short, such as the fire breathing and face changing are placed at the end, accounting for only about 1/4 of the total length; third, the level is average, the frequency of face changing is low, the number of facial makeup is small, and the laser stage effect can only be used to make up the number.
If you think Sichuan opera performances are just operas, you are wrong. Furong National Essence is a program that connects all the characteristic performances of Sichuan with a storyline as the main line. Here you can witness the traditional repertoires of Sichuan opera, shadow puppetry, hidden knives, fire breathing, face changing, etc., which are vivid, beautiful and truly amazing!
Their unique skills are arts that we dare not imagine.
The rubber band rolling lantern is how a Sichuan woman trained her husband to be a henpecked husband. To be honest, doing somersaults on a stool with a brazier on the head is also a unique skill that makes people have to give thumbs up to the artists.
Face changing is a top-level state secret. It is said that the Nine Changes have been lost, and there are only two masters in China who can master Six Changes.
Tickets were booked online in advance (150 yuan/person, on-site ticket booking will be more expensive, it is recommended to book online in advance), and tickets were picked up directly at the ticket office at the entrance. The show starts at 7 o'clock. After we got the tickets, we still had more than half an hour to leisurely drink tea in the teahouse next door.
Gaiwan tea tastes pretty good!
Sichuan Opera face changing is worth watching, very exciting!
I was full of expectations but ended up being a little disappointed. The show was shortened from 80 minutes to 70 minutes, and the real highlight was the last 10 minutes of face changing and fire breathing, which brought the show to a climax.
We came to the Jinjiang Theater near Wangfujing. I won't spoil the plot too much. For those who haven't seen it, it is definitely worth a look. I booked Class B tickets online at noon that day. I booked late and the seats were all in the corners. I suggest booking earlier. Class A tickets do have much better seats.
It is recommended to watch Sichuan Opera performances at Jinjiang Theater, which tells a poignant story of "a couple being persecuted, disfigured and then having their faces changed". Fire breathing, face changing and dwarfing skills are interspersed in between, just right.
Really wonderful!!!
Definitely recommend!!!
Because I decided to watch it at the last minute, the VIP and A tickets were all sold out
The hibiscus national essence and the Shufeng elegance are gone.
Finally, I thought the weather was so hot and there were mosquitoes, so I chose the B ticket of Furong National Treasure
Got a second row seat
Really, if possible, be sure to buy the VIP ticket or Class A ticket in the middle, it is absolutely worth the money!
The whole process was wonderful~
I have to sigh that Chinese culture is broad and profound.
Rolling lanterns, spitting fire, face changing, puppet show, shadow play...
Every performance is wonderful~
It is said that the Sichuan opera here is the most professional, and the kids are also interested, so ...
Find a travel agency or go online, the ticket price will be cheaper
We booked adult tickets for 120 yuan per ticket, and children under 1.2 meters are free of charge
The stage sound effects and performance content are all seen in teahouses, which are incomparable.
To be honest, when the face-changing actor suddenly came to our row, we were all stunned...
Chengdu is a great place to receive guests from other places and enjoy face-changing. Let me share my experience:
1. Tickets must be ordered at least one day before the viewing. There are three types of prices, 80 yuan, 120 yuan, and 160 yuan. The main issue is the viewing location. Be sure to book in advance. There may not be a suitable time or a suitable location on the day. Of course, you can also buy a package ticket, such as face changing + thatched cottage or face changing + panda breeding base. After the order is successful, a QR code will be sent soon, and it will clearly remind you of the usage time.
2. Diversified channels. I have bought from Meituan and China-TravelNote. They are both OK. Buying from China-TravelNote for a long time will form a habit. In short, they are both very convenient.
3. Although there are many places to watch face-changing, I think Jinjiang is better. It presents the culture of face-changing in the form of a story, which is more appealing.
4. Performance duration is between 1.5 hours and 2 hours;
5 There are Three Kingdoms culture, market culture, and face changing, especially face changing. A row of people come up and they can change their faces in groups or individually. It's pretty good, highly recommended!
The day we went, the theater was full of people outside. I heard that the ticket cost 150 yuan, and it was for the first row. You can search online, it's not expensive, 80, 120, 160. You can book the same-day ticket before 18:00, but you need to contact the theater to confirm the seat. The decoration of the performance venue is not bad. Later it was proved that sound, light and electricity are indispensable. The fire-breathing show, although it was very real, but the disadvantage of sitting in the first row was that the kerosene was choking. I felt that my clothes would catch fire. The part where Pi Jin lit the lamp in the performance was very exciting. There was also a puppet show. The puppets' every smile and every move were superb, just like a beautiful lady! The performance was very exciting. The effect of sitting in the first row was really good.
Chengdu is a great place to watch Sichuan opera, face-changing and fire-breathing performances!
There are only two theaters in Chengdu that offer authentic Sichuan opera performances, and they are only available at night. I went to the Jinjiang Theater and bought a Class A ticket, which has the best view and the highest price, 160. I bought it in advance on the official account! Just send the verification code to enter. There is a place in the theater where you can rest and drink tea before entering, and you can also experience ear cleaning. I heard them say it was very comfortable, but I still refused.
There are acrobatics, face-changing and plots. The scene is really super exciting, and the applause continues. If you come to Chengdu, you must watch Sichuan Opera! Otherwise, I think it's really a waste of time. The Sichuan Opera performance lasts for two hours.
When you come to Sichuan, you must watch the famous Sichuan Opera Face Changing. I booked the tickets online during the day and chose first-class tickets. The price was a bit expensive. When I picked up the tickets in the evening, I found that I was still in the first row. Although not in the middle, it was still good. And I was given a tea bowl from Yuelai Tea House next to the theater.
The stage effect is very good, the laser show has a strong sense of technology, and it feels like being in a time tunnel. There are also subtitles in multiple languages, so foreign friends don't have to worry about not understanding it.
The actors performed with all their heart, and the audience was mesmerized. After watching the performance for less than two hours, I really felt that I had not seen enough. The stage effect was excellent. Sitting in the front row with 4D special effects, you can be immersed in the scene whether it is raining or breathing fire. All the actors thanked the audience. It was really wonderful. Friends who come to Chengdu must not miss it.
Drinking tea and listening to operas in Chengdu are the characteristics of this place. What are the traditional skills of Chengdu? Rolling lanterns, spitting fire, and face changing, all of which are included in the Furong National Essence of Jinjiang Theater. The face changing here is 6-head face changing, which is much more authentic than those on the street, and the visual effect is also very good! The seats for watching operas in Chengdu are divided into A, B, and C seats.
It was my first time to watch Sichuan Opera live. It was pretty good, about an hour long. But the ticket was a bit expensive (150 yuan), not cost-effective
At 6pm, I came to Jinjiang Theater to watch Sichuan Opera. The theater is near Taikoo Li subway station. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Chengdu Scenic Area Direct Bus Station. Jinjiang Theater is an old theater in Chengdu. The program quality is very high and the stage lighting effect is good. Comrades who like Sichuan Opera and face-changing should not miss it.
Sichuan Opera is pretty good. It's much cheaper on the through train, about 20% off. If you want to watch Sichuan Opera, it's recommended to buy third-class seats. If they are not full, you can secretly go to second-class seats by yourself.
After the Panda Show, you can exchange your tickets at the theater entrance with the Sichuan Opera QR code given by the staff. It is recommended to arrive one hour in advance and buy third-class seats (there are not so many people and many second-class seats on the second floor are empty). Sichuan Opera is 70% agile and 30% cute, so literary young people should like it.
There are many delicious places on Chunxi Road. Whatever you eat, it's delicious. In addition, next to Jinjiang Theater (next to the main entrance) is the famous Yuelai Tea House, where you can go in for free to drink tea with Sichuan Opera tickets. Sichuan Opera tickets can be booked online in advance. The content is OK, but it needs to be refined.
I booked a Sichuan opera performance at 8pm on Jinjiang Theater on China-TravelNote, and they also gave me tea from the nearby Yuelai Teahouse, so I could go there early to drink tea. There are three types of tickets, A, B, and C, depending on the seat location. The theater is not very big, so C tickets can see clearly.
It was a great performance, which refreshed my understanding of Sichuan Opera. We have both been lamenting that in today's society, fewer and fewer young people choose to learn unique skills like Sichuan Opera face-changing or skills with strong national characteristics such as opera. If one day we lose these forever, it will probably be a very regrettable thing.
The Sichuan Opera show at Jinjiang Theater, with traditional arts such as fire-breathing and face-changing, combined with modern lighting and stage effects, presents you with an audio-visual feast that is suitable for both middle-aged and elderly audiences and young audiences. The performance lasts 1.5 hours and is very exciting and worth the ticket price! The host lady is very professional, and the announcement and the prompt subtitle screen next to it are all in English.
Tickets are divided into Class A and Class B. The theater is not big, so Class B tickets are enough.
Address: No. 54 Xinghuazheng Street (near Wangfujing) Jinjiang Theater
Furong National Essence is like a theater. Tickets are divided into three categories: A, B, and C. The cheapest C ticket is 80 yuan. It seems that there are discounts if you buy it in advance. When you come to Sichuan, you must see the world cultural heritage, the essence, Sichuan Opera.
Here is the key point - if you really want to come and see it, please buy the A ticket (180), the B ticket (120) is not in a good position and there will be a blind spot.
Jinjiang Sichuan Opera House is not very big, but the sound and scenery of the whole theater are still very shocking. The Sichuan Opera of one and a half hours has a storyline, but it is not worth pondering. Just watch the performance!!!
Silhouette puppet show, fire breathing, ceiling lights, face changing, six heads changing faces, every scene is very shocking
Located at No. 54, Huaxingzheng Street, Jinjiang District, Chengdu, it was formerly known as Yuelai Tea Garden, which was built in 1908 (the 34th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign) and has a history of nearly 100 years. It is the first large-scale comprehensive cultural and entertainment venue in China named after Sichuan Opera and mainly performing dramas, including Jinjiang Theater, Yuelai Tea Garden, Sichuan Opera Art Museum, etc.
We bought tickets online. Sichuan Opera tickets are divided into three levels: A, B, and C. They are divided according to the quality of the seats. A tickets are more expensive. We bought C tickets, which are group-purchased for 80. It seems that there are two shows every night. I forgot the specific time. Ours was the second show, which started at 8 o'clock and ended at about 9 o'clock. After buying the tickets, you should pay attention to the text messages you receive. Some orders can be directly picked up at the ticket office, and some orders require someone to call you to confirm the verification code before you can pick up the tickets. At that time, the person called me, and I thought it was a scam and ignored him. As a result, when I arrived at the door, he said that there were no tickets, so I called again. It was very embarrassing. . . Each ticket will be given a tea tasting in a covered bowl, just to the left of the door. When we went there, it was almost open, so we didn't drink it. The whole play includes drama, acrobatics, and face-changing. The visual experience on the scene is still very good, which is different from what you usually see on TV. After watching it, I feel that these actors are not easy. It is really "ten years of hard work off the stage, one minute off the stage."
The performance was great. You should watch Sichuan Opera when you go to Chengdu. You won't regret it.
The quintessence of Chinese art, it's a rare trip to Chengdu, you must come and see it. The whole show is arranged with ups and downs and compact plots, with juggling, fire breathing, face changing, and Sichuan opera interspersed in it, which is wonderful and worth seeing. I booked the A ticket on the "Chengdu Scenic Area Direct Bus" for 160 yuan. The girl said that it was guaranteed not to be the first or second row (too noisy), while the A ticket on China-TravelNote for 155 yuan is likely to be the first or second row... In the end, my seat was in the middle of the 11th row, which couldn't be better, and I was happy 😄 The tea bowls they served were very fragrant, but it was very difficult to get the waiter to pour water. It is said that you have to call them "tea doctors" instead of simply "masters"
Highly recommended! Although there are not many lines sung, the light and shadow effects are very good👍
I went there on National Day. There were two shows that night, the first at 19:00 and the second at 20:30. I chose the second one. There were a lot of people, basically all the seats were occupied. I bought it online in advance, together with the panda breeding base. I looked at the arrangement of the seats, and it is more intuitive to see the Class A tickets. My seat was in the middle of the third row. I saw comments saying that around row 7 is better, and you don’t have to look up or down, it is the most comfortable, but I think my row is also okay. You can feel the temperature when it spits fire, and you can feel the water vapor when it rains. The experience is also okay. The whole Sichuan opera is very coherent. I basically didn’t take time to take pictures. I was just feeling it. People in Sichuan must find Sichuan opera boring, but outsiders must go to experience it when they go to Chengdu. It is still worth the ticket price.
I didn't check the guide before, but I decided to buy a ticket after listening to the recommendation of the scenic area through bus. The ticket for Zone A bought from the scenic area through bus was 160 yuan per ticket, but the ticket at this time did not have a seat number. You need to go to Jinjiang Theater about an hour before the evening performance to pick up the ticket with a seat number. The performance starts at 8 o'clock in the evening and lasts about 75 minutes.
The performance is divided into several acts, each showing the different characteristics and features of Sichuan Opera. The overall rhythm is OK, because there is a plot, so it does not make people feel dragged. Face changing is the last performance, and the master will run to the audience to change his face in front of you, which makes people unable to stop watching.
When we went there, we found that many foreign friends were also watching the performance. It was very international. However, the theater was quite old and the facilities were a bit outdated. It would be perfect if it could be renovated.
I went to watch the Sichuan Opera face-changing performance, the ticket price was 150.
First, let me relieve everyone's worries: Don't worry about not understanding it at all! Furong National Essence is a very enjoyable show. Even foreigners strongly recommend it. It's not a bunch of people singing something you don't understand as you imagine. In the end, I watched it more attentively until the end because I was quite satisfied. There are two shows when the passenger flow is large, starting at 7 pm and 8.30 pm respectively. The second show we watched was in the 7th row of the A ticket, and the sight was not bad. There are A, B, and C tickets, etc. When picking up the tickets, the specific rows and seats are random, depending on your luck. I still recommend the A ticket, which is only a few dozen yuan short. If you eat something outside, it will be gone. We bought the A ticket for 160 yuan on the scenic spot through bus. We were fooled at the time. We wanted to buy the first show. The staff said that it would start at 8.30 and we could go in and have a look at it at 7 o'clock. The first show was too early. In fact, the theater can only be entered ten minutes in advance, and there is nothing to visit after entering. There is free tea outside the theater. We sat there stupidly for more than an hour.
Right next to the hotel, the Sichuan opera has an attractive plot and a wonderful performance, definitely worth watching.
I bought a C ticket, the location is average
Fortunately, my lens is powerful
marvelous
The theater looks small, and it is actually small, but a small theater has its advantages. You can choose from Class A, B, and C tickets, and if you sit in the C ticket area, you can see the stage clearly!
I bought a Class C ticket online and asked if there were student tickets. The seller was very cute and said: No, but if your sister is a student, buy a child ticket and I'll give you a discount of 10 yuan. With the ticket, you can go to Yuelai Teahouse for tea. The performance was quite exciting, with face-changing and fire-breathing acrobatics.
Although I know that the performances at Jinjiang Theater are for outsiders like us, if you want to experience the most authentic Sichuan Opera, I still recommend going to Shufeng Yayun. But! Yes! I am afraid I can't understand the authentic Sichuan Opera (I can't even understand Sichuan dialect). Outsiders should have the awareness of outsiders. The performances at Jinjiang Theater allow you to see the classic essence of Sichuan Opera such as face changing, fire breathing, rolling lanterns, etc., which is completely enough for me.
It's pretty good and worth watching. The program arrangement is also quite compact.
You must watch a Sichuan opera when you come to Chengdu! It's OK
The most official and formal Sichuan opera venue, a must-visit place to learn about Bashu face-changing culture.
Super super super super super awesome
Before coming to Chengdu, the travel agency specifically recommended that you must watch this Sichuan opera performance. The ticket is 80 yuan per person and is given by the travel agency. The whole performance is very well designed, and the sound and light effects are well coordinated. The last part of the face-changing show, the old artist is indeed more skilled, and the puppet face-changing is also very special. The whole performance is still worth watching.
You must watch Sichuan Opera when you go to Sichuan. We chose the Furong National Essence Face Changing Show at Jinjiang Theater. The whole show has a coherent story and the plot is simple and easy to understand. At the same time, it incorporates Sichuan Opera's unique skills such as face changing, fire breathing, and rolling lanterns, so that people can have some understanding of Sichuan Opera in a short time. We booked Class A tickets online, but we were unlucky and were assigned to the last row. However, the seat was in the middle, so we could see the whole view. Even if we stood up to watch, we would not block others. We consoled ourselves for the time being.
The theater is a bit old, but the Furong National Essence Legend Face-Changing Show is very good and worth recommending when visiting Chengdu.
My friend said it's OK, if you are interested you can go and have a look
Jinjiang Theater was built on the site of Yuelai Tea Garden, the birthplace of Sichuan Opera. It is an art center named after Sichuan Opera, combining the classical appearance of western Sichuan with modern interior decoration. It is also recognized as the "home of Sichuan Opera". The theater is equipped with a central air-conditioning system, which is warm in winter and cool in summer. Jinjiang Theater is located in the city center, close to the commercial center "Chunxi Road Pedestrian Street". It is close to the downtown area but maintains its simplicity and tranquility. The transportation is convenient and there are enough parking spaces.
There are Furong National Essence performances here every night. The play brings together famous actors and actresses from the Chengdu Sichuan Opera circle. It is a carefully choreographed classic play that highlights Sichuan Opera stunts such as rolling lanterns, spitting fire, and changing faces. It can be said to be the most exciting "Sichuan Opera stunt variety show."
Chengdu is not only full of beautiful women, but also has Sichuan Opera, which is considered the quintessence of Chinese culture. I booked tickets for the Jinjiang Theater online in advance. The earlier you book, the better the seat you can get. With the ticket, you can get a bowl of tea for free at the teahouse next to the Jinjiang Theater, and wait for the theater to open.
The Furong National Treasure contains all the characteristics of Sichuan Opera. The rolling lantern, the henpecked ears (local dialect for being afraid of one's wife), the string puppets, the face-changing, etc. The performance of more than an hour is still very exciting. Although there is no explicit rule that photography is not allowed in the theater, the author recommends that since you are appreciating it, you should remember the national quintessence with your eyes and heart, not just with a camera.
The theater is not big, it can seat about 300 people, the attendance rate is very high, and I feel that the seats in rows 5-8 are the best for viewing. The performance is probably aimed at spectators like me: Sichuan opera, shadow puppetry, juggling, stunts, face changing, puppetry... everything is there, the visual effects are dazzling and colorful, and it is lively and fun to watch. However, the artistic level of some Sichuan operas seems to be average, and the singing and movements are not very heartfelt. There is also a lack of staff on the scene to guide "please do not take pictures", "applause should be given here", etc., and some people are even taking pictures with flash lights...
But there are still highlights! The Lu Bu in "Three Heroes Fighting Lu Bu" seems to be played by a girl? He looks so handsome! His martial arts are also so handsome! The puppeteer's skills are simply amazing. Compared with him, the puppeteers of Taiwan's puppet shows are just at the level of elementary school students; the face-changing in the last chapter is also very exciting; the clown named Pi Jin who runs through the whole story also has a great figure! Hehe~
Haha, Sichuan Opera! Although I don't understand it very well, it looks lively and I like it. I booked the ticket at the Youth Hostel, which provides pick-up and drop-off. If you have enough time at night, I strongly recommend going to see Sichuan Opera.
The Sichuan opera we watched here was very beautiful and distinctive. The combination of traditional Sichuan opera and modern stage technology gave the Sichuan opera greater expressiveness.
A very exciting Sichuan opera performance with a plot and special effects. The stage background, storyline and actor performances are all outstanding.
Personally, I think it’s enough to buy ticket B, the location is also good.
The seller arranged a great seat, right in the middle of the second row, where I could enjoy the quintessence of Sichuan opera up close, and was shocked by the face-changing and fire-breathing! I like the face-changing part the most
Furong National Treasure is very good, with subtitles, so you don't have to worry about not understanding it. I recommend everyone to go
I strongly recommend that you don't take any photos and just record the video. It was very exciting. One and a half hours passed in the blink of an eye. There were many foreign friends.
After shopping and eating in Jinli, there is only one last stop left for today’s itinerary: the Sichuan Opera “Hibiscus National Essence”.
The process of buying tickets was also quite interesting. I saw other people's recommendations in travel notes before the trip and included it in the itinerary. They were sold on Damai. The first-class ticket was originally priced at 280, but it was discounted to 150, but you couldn't choose your seat. The performance venue, Jinjiang Theater, happened to be very close to the accommodation, so I went there for a walk when I set out in the morning.
The theater door was locked and there were few people. It looked a bit desolate. The ticket office at the door was like a small guard room, which made people feel nervous. There were two old men and women sitting inside, drinking tea and reading newspapers.
The dialogue about buying tickets is as follows (roughly)
A: "Hello, is this the ticket office?"
B: "Yeah."
A: "If we buy tickets online, do we pick them up here?"
B: "Why buy it online? Why not just buy it here?"
A: 'It's cheaper to buy online.'
B: "What's the price online?"
A: “Their first-class tickets are 150 each.”
B: "150 is fine then."
At this point, I hurriedly bought two tickets. The old man took out two tickets and wrote the seat numbers on the tickets with a pen. The casualness of the process was surprising. I doubted whether the online sale price of 100 yuan was really 100 yuan...
Looking at the slightly dilapidated theater, I felt uneasy, wondering if I was being ripped off…
But when the evening performance started, everything was different. Watching the people coming in and out, I felt more confident. The performance was so wonderful that it was beyond my expectation. The uniqueness of the performance made it completely different from the general song and dance evening. The four-language subtitles and bilingual announcements made it look very international. I have never been very interested in song and dance performances, but I think this Sichuan opera is worth the money and I recommend it to everyone. The only regret is that the sound quality is a little inferior. It would be better if it could be improved. The following are some photos of the performances, face changing, fire breathing, shadow play, etc.
The theater is not big, but the performance is great~ and you can get free tea with your ticket~
Jinjiang Theater is located behind Wangfujing Department Store on Chunxi Road Pedestrian Street. There are many authentic snacks nearby (those who cannot eat spicy food should be careful. It is a lesson learned the hard way). You can drink Chengdu's big bowl of tea (jasmine tea) for free with your ticket. The Sichuan opera performance in the theater is quite exciting, much better than the performance in ordinary small teahouses. The performance includes Sichuan opera segments, fire breathing, sword hiding, face changing, and other Sichuan opera skills. Tickets can be exchanged at 7 o'clock, and the performance starts at 8 o'clock and lasts about an hour and a half. It is recommended to book tickets through travel agencies to reserve a good seat and it is very cheap.
The environment is good, the toilets are clean and tidy, and the performances are also very good. I must recommend it!
It has a strong flavor of western Sichuan ethnic life. The skits, the fun of the happy ear-ear show, the face-changing acrobatics, martial arts, etc., vividly reproduce the happy life of the people of Chengdu and the rich and colorful diversity of western Sichuan culture. It is the only place to understand the leisurely and comfortable life of the people of Chengdu. It is second to none, exemplary, and authentic!
The repertoire is wonderful and the actors' skills are extraordinary. The whole performance incorporates a lot of folk art and stunts of Sichuan opera culture. I deeply admire the artists' pursuit and inheritance of traditional skills. It is highly recommended
The fire-breathing and face-changing were so exciting that I couldn’t get enough. I finished watching them at 9:30 and it only took me 20 minutes to walk back. I have to get up early tomorrow to catch a flight, so I went to bed.
I watched Sichuan Opera at Jinjiang Theater near Chunxi Road. There was free tea before the show. Chengdu is really a place where you can see teahouses everywhere. Then the Sichuan Opera I watched afterwards was also very shocking. The music, stage effects, and actor performances were all great.
The show runs from 8 to 9:15 p.m. and includes traditional Chinese performances such as face changing, fire breathing, dwarfing skills, rolling lanterns, and acrobatics. It is quite good and worth watching.
This is the Sichuan Opera face-changing show of Furong National Treasure, which is really wonderful. I started to love watching various ancient Chinese dramas from here. The feeling of watching them live is very different from watching them on TV. The live version adds many entertainment elements and a more immersive feeling. The story is very simple, that is, a pair of lovers cannot be together because of some strange mistake. The story is interspersed with dwarf drama, shadow play, Sichuan Opera face-changing, etc., which is wonderful. There are also many modern high-tech effects on the stage. The time-space shuttle light at the beginning of the play really gives people the illusion of traveling through time. Book tickets on Taobao for more than 100 yuan and you can sit in the second row. The teahouse waiting for the show provides free large bowls of tea, but you must apply floral water in summer because there are many mosquitoes.
The two performances in the evening were really wonderful. It was a bit expensive to buy tickets directly, 180-230. I suggest you use the mobile app or group purchase tickets, which can save an average of 50. The photoelectric effect of the performance was really good, and the performance was great! Another tip: I suggest you watch the first show in the evening, and after watching it, you can have a cup of tea at the Yuelai Teahouse next to it to experience the slow life of Chengdu.
Since I booked the ticket for Furong National Treasure through a travel agency in advance, I went to watch Sichuan Opera at night. I booked the VIP ticket for 150 yuan, the original price was 280 yuan, which is a good deal~~
To be honest, I hesitated for a long time before watching Sichuan Opera, which was due to my misunderstanding of drama. In fact, it is quite wonderful! Definitely worth watching! !
VIP tickets are recommended, not only because you are close to the stage, but also because the face-changing master will come down to interact with you and change his face right in front of you!
Located on Huaxing Main Street, Zongfu Road, behind Wangfujing, it is within walking distance from Chunxi Road. Formerly known as Yuelai Tea Garden, it has a history of nearly 100 years. After reconstruction, it has become a Sichuan Opera Art Center. Its representative work is "Legendary Face-changing Show of Furong National Essence". The theater environment is good and spacious, and the viewing effect is also good. The sound and lighting are very good. When you come to Chengdu to play, listen to a Sichuan opera and watch the classic face-changing drama, which is a good window to understand Sichuan culture.
The Furong National Treasure in the theater lasted for an hour and a half. The face-changing and Pijin lantern show were worth seeing. When Spider-Man appeared at the end, everyone laughed. The whole arrangement was quite compact, with Sichuan opera, unique skills, and juggling, but I personally think the ticket price is a bit high.
We went to the nearby Yue Lai Teahouse to drink free gaiwan tea. The show started at 8pm. To be honest, I really recommend it. This one hour and twenty minutes show shocked and moved me, especially the face-changing at the end, which was a classic.
When Sichuan Opera actors appeared, everyone's clothes were very loose. Do you know why? Hehe, because they need to hide the props for face-changing! The first performance was "Fire Breathing". Although it was not as difficult as face-changing, the stage effect was first-class. The audience was very excited and cheered.
Of course, since it is the first theater, ordinary performances alone will definitely not be enough to impress everyone. The Jinjiang Theater's signature performances are the coolest. This one is to change the face by manipulating the doll in the hand. The performer can change the face continuously without touching the doll.
There is also the most magical "multi-faceted change". There are five faces on the back. You only need a flag in your hand. Just wave the flag and six faces will change at the same time. This is really amazing. I changed it several times in a row and still couldn't figure out where the trick was. It's magical~ The atmosphere on the scene also reached its peak at this moment. Tourists sitting around said that the tickets were worth buying and the trip was worthwhile. So, when you come to Chengdu again, don't just eat delicious food, but also take a cultural tour.
Many people have misunderstandings about Sichuan opera, thinking that it only involves face-changing. In fact, Sichuan opera is extensive and profound, with many performances, just like this [陳耳] show, which is not only funny about Sichuan men being afraid of their wives, but also vividly shows the life of old Chengdu.
The theater is not very big, and can only accommodate about 200 to 300 people after a play. Tickets are divided into four levels: special, A, B, and C! Special tickets are for the private rooms on the second floor, which are expensive but classy; A tickets are of course the best seats besides the private rooms, right in the middle of the front row with the best view; B tickets are on both sides of A tickets, and C tickets are the cheapest so they are located in the last few rows. I sat in C seat this time, so it was inconvenient to take pictures.
