The ancient city of Langzhong is surrounded by water on three sides and backed by mountains on one side. It has beautiful scenery and has been known as the "Langyuan Fairyland" since ancient times. It has a history of more than 2,300 years and was the capital of the State of Ba in the middle of the Warring States Period.
There are eight national key cultural relics protection sites in Langzhong Ancient City, including Zhangfei Temple, Yong'an Temple, Wulong Temple, Tengwang Pavilion, Guanyin Temple, Baba Temple, Dafo Temple, and Chuanbei Road Gongyuan.
Langzhong Ancient City is famous for its food culture, including beef and mutton offal noodles, soup noodles, northern Sichuan jelly, hot jelly and other food snacks full of the folk customs of the ancient city.

Langzhong Ancient City is one of the four ancient cities in my country. It is located in Nanchong, Sichuan, and has a history of 2,300 years. It was an important military town in ancient times. Although the ancient city is small in scale, it has many national and provincial key cultural relics protection units, and is currently a 5A scenic spot.
In my opinion, Langzhong is an ancient city that is simple and full of charm. There are many ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties in the ancient city, and they are well preserved. Walking on the stone roads of the ancient city of Langzhong, you can see the quaint buildings of the Ming and Qing dynasties everywhere. The people of the ancient city drink tea, chat and play chess under the quaint eaves, and it is full of the breath of life.
Langzhong Ancient City has three advantages: 1. Exquisite handicrafts 2. Delicious food 3. Beautiful scenery. Suggestions: 1. It is best to buy a handicraft to put at home, it is really beautiful 2. Eat as much as you can, and be sure to try maocai 3. Be sure to go up to Zhongtian Tower or Huaguang Tower and take a look at the platform, it is really beautiful. If you have done these three points, you will know that Langzhong Ancient City is a place worth visiting.
On the way back to Chengdu from Beijing, we stopped by the ancient city of Langzhong.
The ancient city covers a large area, and the New Year atmosphere is very strong. However, the surrounding parking spaces are not well set up, and the flow of people outside the city is limited. You have to go around a long way to get to the bridge over the Jialing River, and the surrounding parking spaces are very tight. You have to park far away from the ancient city to find a parking space.
There is no need to buy tickets if you only visit the ancient city. We didn’t visit many attractions in the city and only went to Zhongtian Tower.
Specialties of the ancient city: Northern Sichuan jelly, Zhang Fei beef, and foot-bathing vinegar.
There are more vinegar foot baths in the city than those selling vinegar, 10 yuan per session. But you can buy 2 large buckets of foot bath vinegar for 15 yuan. I bought vinegar and took it home to soak, but didn't experience it here.
The food and beverages are quite rich, and there is also a place to drink tea by the river.
Across the Jialing River, you can see the ancient town of Nanjinguan. Jinping Mountain and the White Pagoda on the other side are good places to see the whole picture of the ancient city of Langzhong. However, during the Spring Festival, there is a lantern festival on Jinping Mountain. If you want to go up the mountain, you must buy a lantern festival ticket. Even during the day, ordinary tickets are not sold. So it is recommended to go to the White Pagoda, but it is much farther away. The ancient city, the Jialing River and the other side form the shape of a Bagua diagram, so there is also a museum about Feng Shui here.
There are some slightly better inns here, which cost more than 100 or 200 yuan. We stayed in an ordinary one, which only cost 90 yuan for a room for 3 people, and it had everything you need.
I came here for the slogan "I'm waiting for you in Langzhong"~ I spent one night and two days to experience this ancient town, the birthplace of the 2,400-year-old Spring Festival. Now the high-speed rail can go directly to Langzhong, which is more convenient, but we flew to Mianyang, and the only way from Mianyang to Langzhong is by bus (bus tickets can be purchased online). I thought Langzhong was a small county town surrounding the ancient town of Langzhong, but I didn't expect Langzhong itself to be very large. I took a taxi to Zhuangyuanfang and walked in. The ancient town itself does not charge admission tickets, and you can buy tickets for the attractions separately or in a package for about 120 yuan. According to my observation, the only place worth visiting is Guanghua Tower, which costs 20 yuan. It is a historical site and you can take pictures of the river and the ancient town. Other places like Gongyuan Hanhenghou are difficult to understand the humanities and history without explanations, and there is nothing to see if you just take a quick look. Langzhong is known as one of the four ancient towns (Lijiang, Pingyao, and Shexian). Although the ancient towns are similar and have a strong commercial atmosphere, Langzhong always feels surrounded by a faint fairy air. It is not as noisy as Lijiang, but cleaner than Pingyao. There are many local residents in the town who are very down-to-earth. The old people playing cards in the sun on the square look like what an ancient town should look like. Especially at night, the street near Lijia Inn on the riverside is very similar to Kyoto's Kawahara-cho Shijo. How long is life when we drink and sing? For food, Lijia and Huajiantang are recommended. There is a breakfast stall to the east of the square. You must try the oil tea Sanzi. The accommodation is up to you. We stayed at Huajiantang Langyuan and it felt good.
The well-preserved ancient city has beautiful landscapes and ancient vicissitudes. Zhang Fei's shrine and tomb are important historical sites of the Three Kingdoms. The examination hall is one of the few imperial examination halls in the city that has been preserved to this day. There are also a series of red relics. The main commercial street is crowded with people and has a strong commercial atmosphere, but you can find old alleys that are rarely visited by tourists, quiet and full of life at a turn.
One of its characteristics is that the Feng Shui ancient city is surrounded by mountains on all sides and water on three sides. Climbing up to the gray roof of the ancient house in Zhongtian Tower, there is a deep and exquisite feeling of the layers upon layers.
The second is the holy land of imperial examinations, where we visited "Sichuan North Road, Confucian Temple, and Gongyuan".
The third is the origin of the Spring Festival, the fourth is the legacy of the Three Kingdoms, and the fifth is to feel the folk customs of the ancient city and taste Langzhong cuisine.
But the most regrettable thing is that the complete ancient city wall and four city gates were demolished in the early 1980s. Now the south city wall and the south gate have been restored.
There is no unified ticket for the Langzhong Ancient City scenic area, but each small attraction charges its own fee.
Tour time: 1 day
Langzhong is the most beautiful at night. Strolling in the ancient town where the lights are just coming on, the gentle breeze from the river is very comfortable.
In addition to strolling through the attractions of the ancient city during the day, you can also walk to the Baita Park on the other side of the river, overlook the ancient city from afar, and admire the big bend of the Jialing River.
Langzhong is known as one of the four ancient cities in China, and is as famous as Pingyao in Shanxi, Lijiang in Yunnan, and Shexian in Anhui. It is said that Langzhong has a history of 2,300 years. It belonged to the Ba Kingdom in the pre-Qin period, and was changed to Ba County in the Han Dynasty. It was not until the Tang Dynasty when Li Yuanying built Langyuan that it was called Langzhong. Nowadays, most of the city is newly built. Although the residents here are iron-mouthed and steel-toothed, they say that the buildings in the city have a history of hundreds of years, but from the building materials, it can be seen that they are contemporary items. In recent years, people who drive into the ancient city of Langzhong generally enter the city from Zhuangyuanfang. Langzhong has the imperial examination shed and Confucian Temple in the northern Sichuan area during the Qing Dynasty, so it was named after its meaning. In the streets and alleys of the ancient city, Zhang Fei served as the governor here during the Three Kingdoms period, so there are his signs everywhere. .
Langzhong Ancient City is one of the four ancient cities in China. It takes 1-2 days on weekends to visit it. It is recommended that you spend 1 day in the ancient city to visit the Zhang Fei Temple, Gongyuan and other attractions to learn about the history and customs of Langzhong. Then spend another day to visit the mountains, relax your body and mind, and overlook the whole picture of Langzhong Ancient City.
The ancient town is suitable for a quick tour. There are people selling braised pork (very fragrant), beef, vinegar, and snacks all over the street. There are also fish massages. The retro attic is a homestay where residents can experience it.
Langzhong Ancient City was built in accordance with the astronomical feng shui theory of the Tang Dynasty and is known as the "feng shui ancient city". The Three Kingdoms culture represented by the Han Huanhou Temple (Zhang Fei Temple), the religious culture represented by the Yuntai Temple, the Dafo Temple, the Yong'an Temple, the Baba Temple, the Gospel Hall, and the Catholic Church, the imperial examination culture represented by the Gongyuan, and the folk culture represented by the Bayu dance, shadow puppetry, northern Sichuan lantern opera, bright flower shoes, paper-cutting and other arts complement each other, and the ancient city is known as "a model of harmonious development of multiple cultures."
There are four ancient cities in China, namely Pingyao Ancient City in Shanxi, Langzhong Ancient City in Sichuan, Shexian Ancient City in Anhui and Lijiang Ancient City in Yunnan. However, the biggest feature of ancient cities in China is that they are not worthy of their names. If you don't want to check in and see the crowds, it is not recommended to come, especially not during holidays.
Ticket price: 100 yuan (pass), parking fee: 5 yuan, opening hours: 08:00-18:30, reference time: 2-3 hours
Langzhong Ancient City, one of the four major ancient cities in China, is also the birthplace of the Spring Festival.
Entrance to the ancient city is free, which is great, although I also bought a combination ticket for the attractions which is not cheap.
Rubbish place, super boring... I have never seen such a boring ancient town, many shops are closed, and the ones that are open are just some repetitive and common small commodity shops and so-called mediocre snack bars! Not many people come here to play, probably because they are all scammed!
Having visited the four ancient cities, the most distinctive feature of Langzhong Ancient City is that it is surrounded by rivers, has outstanding people and beautiful scenery, and is known as the number one city in terms of Feng Shui. It is a city built according to the astronomical Feng Shui theory of the Tang Dynasty. It is well preserved and has eight national key cultural relics. The must-sees include the Han Henghou Temple, the Chuanbei Road Gongyuan, the ancient mosque Baba Temple, etc.
When eating jelly, I sat at a square table outside the door. A middle-aged beauty at the same table elegantly reminded me that adding local Baoning vinegar to the jelly would make it taste better. Her elegance made me unforgettable. Later, I saw her again when I passed by another store, but it was a pity that we didn't leave contact information. Once you miss some people, it may be forever.
An ancient city with a lot of history, the birthplace of Spring Festival culture, with excellent feng shui, but don't come when there are too many people
I don’t need a reason to like Langzhong.
I am thousands of miles away, but I have been there five times, and I still want to go again.
The mornings and evenings of the ancient city are fascinating.
Stayed at Jinyuan Zhangfei Hotel. The hotel is very good. The rice noodles for breakfast are very delicious. The ancient city stretches along the Jialing River. It is very beautiful. Take a walk along the river at night. The air smells like the river water.
Good good good good good good good good good good good good good worth a turn
Nanjinguan is free during normal times, but it costs 20 yuan for a temple fair during the Spring Festival. Cuiping Mountain is 25 yuan during normal times, but it costs 58 yuan for a few rotten lanterns. The key is that they are all bundled consumption, you can't miss it. It's really ugly. It's called one of the four ancient cities, but it can't compare with the other three.
Langzhong Ancient City, known as one of the four great ancient cities in China, has undergone a phoenix-like rebirth and now leaves an ancient land for future generations to appreciate.
Ancient cities are all similar, what makes them different are the unique attractions in the city.
The scenic area is not big and can be visited in one morning. The off-season pass is 110, which includes 5 major attractions. You can go to Baita Park across the river to take a panoramic view of the ancient city. There are homestays in almost every street in the scenic area. Take your luggage and stay in any one you like!
The Ancient City of Langzhong is known as one of the four best-preserved ancient cities in China along with Lijiang in Yunnan, Pingyao in Shanxi and Shexian in Anhui. It is said to be the place where immortals live because of its architectural style and appearance that are close to ancient customs and its beautiful scenery. There is a saying that there is "Yaochi in the sky and Langyuan on the ground".
I have been to too many places, but I will eventually stop in a quiet place. I have encountered too many landscapes, but I finally stayed in Langzhong. Even after a long separation, every time I encounter a new landscape in my life, I suddenly feel like I have returned to Langzhong.
After arriving in Langzhong, I always have a feeling that is different from other scenic spots, a kind of quietness away from the hustle and bustle, a kind of simplicity that has been settled for a long time. Now thinking about it, I find that it is different. There are not only legends with profound history, but also full of vitality and novelty at all times. There are not only famous meritorious generals in textbooks, but also children wearing red scarves walking through the alleys of the city. There are not only shops and restaurants of all sizes, but also smoke from the cooking of ordinary people in every household. Walking in Langzhong is not like a tourist walking between scenic spots, but like walking in familiar streets and alleys.
Langzhong Ancient City is a place I have longed for.
Langyuan Ancient City is worthy of its name. Marvel at the unique vision of the ancients in building the city.
The ancient city is still well preserved, and stepping into it feels like traveling back in time.
Most intersections in the city have clear guide map signs, so you will never get lost
The ancient city is full of a strong atmosphere of life and is still the main place of life for the residents of Langzhong.
Langzhong may be one of the four ancient cities and the capital of Fengshui. Upon closer inspection, there are not only Catholic churches and Confucian temples, but also Baba Temple, a holy place for Muslims in Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Sichuan, etc. In this small county, Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity coexist. It is hard not to think of the harmonious coexistence of business and residential buildings in the ancient city, and the leisurely daily life of residents and the lively and happy tourists. This harmony of movement and stillness is worth the journey.
The most memorable dish in the ancient city is the beef with tofu. The beef is soft but not hard and chewy, and the tofu is tender and smooth. A piece of beef and two bites of tofu are just the right amount of salty and light.
By the way, be sure to use a colander to scoop it out, which can not only prevent the chopsticks from crushing the tofu pudding, but also drain the oil, making it more complete and healthier to eat.
The ancient city of Langzhong has basically maintained its original appearance. The ancient city you see now looks a bit new, and some people think it is an imitation of antique buildings. In fact, there are some misunderstandings, because the houses in the past would be weathered and aged if they were not repainted. In fact, they are still the original buildings, but they have to be repaired and look a bit new. The Sichuan North Daotai, Confucian Temple, and Zhongtian Tower in the ancient city were restored later. Some courtyards were renovated on the original basis. Only the street at the bottom next to the Jialing River was restored later, and the rest of the streets are almost all left over from the past. The modern buildings near the ancient city used to be the ancient city, but they were demolished in some special historical periods, leaving only the current part.
Very nice place, not too commercial
Langzhong Ancient City is a relatively well-preserved ancient city. If you want to get to know the ancient city better, it is recommended to stay in the ancient city. I chose Huajiantang Langyuan Hotel because its antique architectural style matches the ancient city very well. It was a house of a wealthy family in Langzhong before. The environment inside is very good and very quiet. It's just a little expensive. Attractions in Langzhong Ancient City, such as Zhongxuan Tower, are must-visit places, and you must also climb up the Zhongxuan Tower, from which you can see the layout of the entire Langzhong Ancient City with a great view; the second are the North Sichuan Dao Office, Gongyuan and Han Huanhou Temple (Zhang Fei Temple), these places with a strong historical atmosphere, there is a convoy of Zhang Fei patrolling the city around 9 am, and there is a prisoner trial performance at the North Sichuan Dao Office around 11:00 am; there are also many places selling specialties and snacks in the ancient city, such as Langzhong's beef and vinegar, and the recommended snack is North Sichuan jelly; of course, I think the most not to be missed is the night view of Langzhong, the night view of the ancient city is really beautiful, the lights of the Zhongxuan Tower at night will show different colors, there are also water stage performances at the Nanjinguan Wharf, etc. Generally speaking, if you can slow down the pace in the ancient city, slowly appreciate and savor each place, it will definitely feel good.
The doors of the shops in the ancient city are still the kind of door panels that need to be taken down one by one, which is very simple. There are not many tourists in the ancient city. People who like quietness can carefully experience the life of this ancient city. Langzhong Ancient City is located on the beautiful Jialing River, and the scenery is beautiful during the day.
I went there in 2016. It's a good place and worth a visit.
Some attractions require tickets, but the ancient city does not.
Compared with other ancient cities, there are much fewer people, so you can just wander around.
I personally think that Langzhong Ancient City is worth a visit, with a lot of cultural heritage. Although most of the shops facing the street have been renovated or modernized, most of the "middle courtyards" and "backyards" have maintained their original historical appearance or have been restored to their original appearance (many shops are divided into front yards, middle yards, and backyards). Most of the shops are decorated in a very stylish way, with tasteful embellishments, making people feel comfortable, romantic, and warm. The key is that after visiting dozens of shops or courtyards, the people are very friendly and enthusiastic, and I have to give a special thumbs up!
Langzhong Ancient City is not like some ancient towns or streets, which are basically full of shops for eating, drinking and having fun. It also has historical sites such as Zhang Fei Temple, Gongyuan, and the Eighth Route Army Headquarters. The front yard of its shops may sell handicrafts or handmade winnowing baskets, bamboo products, or it may be a dessert shop. The middle and back yards may be homestays or restaurants. The transition between the front, middle and back is very natural and harmonious. Don't be fooled by the appearance of the shops, the inside is very beautiful or very stylish.
There are many inns or homestays in the ancient city. Friends who drive here can park their cars in a parking space not far from the gate of Langzhong Ancient City (200 meters away from the gate, there are many parking spaces on both sides of the road, and it is free of charge), and then walk into the ancient city.
Moreover, the food in Langzhong is not expensive and delicious. At noon, we had a meal at a restaurant in the ancient city. We had tofu beef, salted chicken (I don’t remember the name of the dish), lettuce beef tendon, side dishes, and rice. It only cost 168 yuan for 6 people. The tofu beef was especially delicious! This was in the center of the ancient city, unlike some restaurants in scenic spots, which are frighteningly expensive.
I have been to Zhenyuan Ancient Town, Fenghuang Ancient Town, Wuzhen, Heshun Ancient Town, Xitang, and Ciqikou. I think Langzhong is the best. There is a difference between an ancient town and an ancient city.
This ancient city is basically full of vendors. We bought beef jerky, cowhide candy, rose slices, small twisted dough sticks and other souvenirs. We also bought a set of ancient costumes and shoes for the children. My daughter was very happy and kept showing off. My usually frugal mother also bought a Ruyi skirt, saying that skirts here are cheap. I walked around and found that the things sold in this ancient city are not expensive, the prices are relatively authentic, and the snacks are delicious, which is worth the money.
As for the tourism in Langzhong, I was quite disappointed. It was not as good as I heard. Huaguang Tower was under renovation, Zhongtian Tower was a standard ancient building, Gongyuan was nothing amazing, and the Sichuan North Road Office was all rebuilt. On the contrary, Zhang Fei Temple made me learn something new - it turned out that Zhang Fei was also a cultured person, and his handwriting was very good, but he had a bad temper, and he didn't learn Sichuan dialect well (I didn't make it clear whether to say Bai or Bai), which eventually led to his body and head being separated. In general, my evaluation of Langzhong is: you will regret it if you don't come, and you may not regret it if you come. If it's not on the way, you can come or not!
The best ancient town to live in! I've been to Lijiang and Dali. Compared to these two, Langzhong is not so overly commercialized. It has a strong atmosphere of life (maybe it was not a holiday when I went there), and the prices are also very cheap. The tofu and vegetable soup is 6 soft! The inn is an ancient courtyard, and there are many X-family courtyards. You might run into your surname. There is an inconspicuous potato chip shop near Zhongtian Building. I strongly recommend it! Opposite is a time-honored restaurant, and next door is a postcard shop with a mailbox? (Forgive me for not looking at the name of the store, I was purely attracted by the smell) It's super delicious, and there is zheergen in the seasoning (if you don't eat it, you can leave it out). If you want to go to Gongyuan and Zhangfei Temple, I strongly recommend buying a 120RMB pass, which is very cost-effective (I didn't plan well and stupidly bought tickets when I walked to the scenic spot (T_T), which is much more expensive than the pass). Finally, I want to say that there are so many cats in the ancient town! It's a pity that I can only upload ten photos. It's super cool to pet cats!
The ancient city of Langzhong is located in the northeast of the Sichuan Basin, in the middle reaches of the Jialing River. It was the last capital of the State of Ba during the Warring States Period. It has a history of more than 2,300 years. It is known as the "Langyuan Fairyland" and is the birthplace of Spring Festival culture. It was awarded the title of "China's Spring Festival Culture Hometown" by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
When we arrived at the ancient town, we parked the car and went to find the inn. We walked along the bluestone road with a gentle breeze. The children walked and stopped, looking around and were curious about everything.
I came here because of its reputation. Due to tight schedule, I only stayed for 1 and a half days. It was okay to stroll around the old streets of the ancient city. It was quite quiet at night, so it was nice to sit in a pub on the street and have a drink.
For me, the ancient town of Langzhong uniquely possesses the carefree feeling of the martial arts world described in martial arts novels.
The streets are paved with large uneven stones. On both sides of the streets are quaint old houses, inns, courtyards, shops... The relationship between people is just right, warm and friendly but not too interfering. When they see tourists on the roadside, they will warmly invite you to have a cup of tea or soak your feet, but when there are no businessmen, they are leisurely and comfortable, sometimes playing chess, sometimes sipping tea and chatting. It has a very light commercial atmosphere, but a strong living atmosphere, lazy but not without sentiment.
You will involuntarily slow down the pace of life and enjoy the laziness emanating from this town. Laziness is not decadence, but a sense of comfort that is most suitable for life.
Wandering in the streets of the ancient town late at night, seeing the closed or half-open wooden doors, looking at the wooden plaques on the doors, it seems that in an instant you can be taken to that amazing, thrilling, dreamlike, and shocking world of rivers and lakes.
The ancient town of Langzhong at night has a special magic, a power that makes people become gentle and calm unconsciously. It is different from the chanting sound coming from the ancient European churches, but a special atmosphere emanating from the white pebbles, bluestone walls, and wooden window edges.
There is a huge difference between the Langzhong Ancient Town in the morning and the Langzhong Ancient Town at night. If it is charming and amorous at night, it is fresh and elegant in the morning, like a summer flower.
The ancient city was sunny in the afternoon (everyone should be well protected from the sun), shining on the quiet bluestone road, showing a peaceful and peaceful appearance. One of the specialties of Langzhong Ancient City is vinegar. Walking on the street, you can see shops selling vinegar everywhere. The smell of vinegar is really strong, and you can smell it just by passing by. After turning a few streets, we saw Huaguang Tower, one of the major attractions in the ancient city. We didn't go upstairs but just took some photos below, but the view of the ancient city from the tower is still very good. There are really many tourists during the May Day holiday, but the whole ancient city still looks very neat and clean. Just leisurely walking on the streets of the ancient city, quietly experiencing this leisure and quiet time, the whole person seems to be quiet. Hahaha, it can be said that I stole half a day of leisure. Upload a few photos. There is a very famous courtyard, which is said to be a tourist attraction. I wanted to go in as a tourist, but I was told that I couldn't come in if I was not a tenant, so I had to stand outside and take two photos. It seems that the yard is still very quiet, with dense shade from the trees, and there should be a different world.
On the way to the river, we passed another building, Zhongtian Building, which seemed to be older.
Langzhong is not bad, the ancient city at night is worth seeing, especially the evening party is not bad. The old taste restaurant at the entrance is good, the taste is very good, the old photo folk hotel is good, the price is reasonable, and the boss is very nice.
A famous Feng Shui city with rich cultural heritage and unique cultural landscape
It's very beautiful and suitable for taking pictures. I will spend a few days strolling in the streets of the ancient city. I am still sorting out the photos. I will write a travel note about the ancient city later.
Nanchong City is located in the northeast of Sichuan Province and the middle reaches of the Jialing River. It is named because it is located in the southern part of Chong State. It has a long history. It originated from Anhan established by Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty in 202 BC. It has been built for more than 2,200 years. I rented a car from Chengdu and stayed here for one night. It felt very similar to other ancient cities. The beef was average and a bit dry. The three unique dishes of Langyuan were still very good. There are snack bars all over the city. The food is basically the same. Beef and vinegar can be seen everywhere.
The ancient city of Langzhong has hardly been commercialized. The 100-yuan ticket is for a newly built attraction in the ancient city and is not worth a visit. Middle-aged women dancing square dances can be seen everywhere on the streets of the ancient city. The most noteworthy thing is the Zhang Fei Temple - the Temple of Han Huanhou, where Zhang Fei's body is buried in Langzhong, Sichuan, and his head is buried in Yunyang, Chongqing. There is also Zhang Fei beef, Baoning vinegar, and the Baoning Vinegar Cultural Park in the ancient city of Langzhong that you can visit.
In fact, the essence of Langzhong Ancient City is not in the ancient city, but in the mountains surrounding it and the river running through it.
The ancient city is beautiful, but it has too much commercial atmosphere.
Langzhong Ancient City is an ancient city, not an ancient town. Langzhong was once the provincial capital. The famous Baoning vinegar is produced here. Vinegar is sold everywhere. You can also soak your feet in vinegar here.
If the Spring Festival is a kind of homesickness, then Langzhong Ancient City is the protagonist of this homesickness. It is free to enter the ancient city, and important scenic spots require ticket inspection and fee to enter. In addition, many scenic spot buildings have been transformed into homestays. Although it is conducive to the better development of scenic spots, it is inevitable that there are conflicts of interest. It has become a private courtyard, and you can only enter and watch after you move in.
In the ancient city, the streets are neatly arranged and big red lanterns are hung high.
Langzhong is full of delicious food, such as Baoning vinegar, Zhangfei beef, Sichuan jelly, etc.
In Langzhong, which is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Spring Festival Culture", it is inevitable that there will be a large number of people during the Spring Festival.
Langzhong was built 2,300 years ago. During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhang Fei was stationed here for seven years and died here.
The so-called four great ancient cities of China refer to the ancient city of Huizhou in Anhui, the ancient city of Langzhong in Sichuan, the ancient city of Pingyao in Shanxi, and the ancient city of Lijiang in Yunnan.
The ancient city is not big, but the location is very good. The area along the river where the Jialing River turns is full of old buildings in the ancient city.
It's OK. After all, it's a free scenic spot. It doesn't have any special features. 5A is a bit far-fetched. Anyway, I didn't enter any paid scenic spots. I just walked around the ancient town. The most common thing was selling beef and foot soaking vinegar.
The area is large, but the content is not much. The few cultural attractions are all charged, and the combined ticket is 120, which can also be purchased separately; the commercial summary is beef, vinegar, foot bath, and accommodation.
The ancient city faces the Jialing River, and there are several mountains opposite, which can be said to be a Feng Shui treasure land.
I must support my hometown that gave birth to me and raised me, and speak for Langzhong and give it a shout-out.
After entering the ancient city, we started shopping and eating.
The jelly is delicious. I heard from a friend that the most famous dish in Nanchong is the pot cake with jelly, so after eating the jelly, I bought another pot cake with jelly. The sauce seeps into the soft inside and crispy outside pancake, and it is very satisfying to take a bite. There are also the famous Baoning vinegar and other special souvenirs.
The big trees in the ancient town probably have a long history. At the entrance of the old town, they are like a guard, guarding this world. Walking in, there are uneven stone roads and white-walled tile houses. From time to time, locals pass by with heavy backpacks on their backs. There are not many tourists near the old houses, so we walked slowly, looking and feeling.
The amazing thing is that there are also local uncles and aunts doing square dance in the ancient city, which is very lively. There are also antiques sold on the roadside. Whether they are real or fake, they have the charm of old Beijing. I squatted down and looked at each item carefully. For some reason, my heart relaxed. I especially like the snuff bottle, which is small and unique, and the texture of the smoke is translucent and warm like jade.
As night falls, the sky fades to dark blue, and the lanterns and hanging lights on both sides of the street light up one by one. This is what an ancient city should look like. Sometimes I like to travel alone to calm my mind. Sometimes I also want to travel with others to share the scenery and feelings along the way.
Langzhong is one of the four ancient cities in China, along with Lijiang, Pingyao and Shexian. The ancient city is not heavily commercialized, and many people still live in the ancient courtyards. The ancient buildings and houses are well preserved. Walking in the ancient city, you can smell the strong smell of vinegar. The specialties here are Baoning vinegar and Zhang Fei beef.
I got up early to see the view of Huaguang Building. It was clean and fresh, and it made me feel very comfortable. There was nothing but beef and vinegar on the street. You couldn't find many commercial things. I ate a lot.
The online ticket price for Langzhong Ancient City is 100 yuan/person, and the face value is 120 yuan/person. Please note: this combined ticket only allows you to choose one of the Huaguang Tower and Zhongtian Tower, and you can only buy a single ticket for the other place.
To me, Langzhong is not as commercialized as Lijiang Ancient Town. There are not many tourists but many ancient buildings. I like Langzhong more than Lijiang.
There is no need to rent a car in Langzhong, because all the attractions are in the ancient city and can be reached on foot, so we chose to stay in a homestay in the ancient city. I took a short break at noon and then went out for a walk. It was very close to the end of the year, and the streets of the ancient city also had a sense of the New Year. Maybe the first two days were weekdays, and the scenic spots in Deyang and Guangyuan felt very empty. Today is Saturday, and there are obviously more people on the streets. It is a good story that a city can be associated with a celebrity. Langzhong and Zhang Fei are like this. Zhang Fei is not from Langzhong, but after he followed Liu Bei into Shu, he was stationed in Langzhong for seven years and eventually died here, leaving behind temples and many legends. Langzhong has become a veritable "City of Zhang Fei".
The ancient city of Langzhong is located in the middle reaches of the Jialing River. It is a good combination of mountains and rivers with cultural buildings, and is a good reproduction of the ancient Feng Shui concept. Zhang Fei was once stationed here, and the famous Baoning vinegar is also produced here.
Langzhong Ancient City is one of the four ancient cities in China (the other three are Lijiang Ancient City in Yunnan, Pingyao Ancient City in Shanxi and Huizhou Ancient City in Anhui), with a history of more than 2,000 years. The ancient city is surrounded by water on three sides and backed by mountains on one side. There is also a bustling commercial street outside the city gate.
Walking into the city gate, it feels like traveling from the present to the past. Every brick and tile has a strong ancient city atmosphere. The ancient city is bustling with people coming and going. During the Spring Festival, there are many parades and performances, and the bustling streets of the ancient city are full of festive atmosphere.
The tallest building in the ancient city is Huaguang Tower, where you can climb up to overlook the ancient city. The ticket to the top is 20 yuan per person. It is recommended that the elderly or people with hypertension and heart disease do not climb up. The stairs to the top are almost vertical at 90 degrees, which is very steep and dangerous as a staircase.
Huaguang Building has three floors. You need to climb two stairs, one for going up and one for going down. The stairs are very narrow and you cannot go up and down at the same time. The staff will arrange the flow of people going up and down the stairs, so it is relatively orderly, but you will probably have to queue when there are many people. Climbing to the top of Huaguang Building, you can see the Jialing River in the distance. There are clouds and mist in the distance. No wonder the ancient city of Langzhong is known as the Langyuan Wonderland.
Today I came to Langzhong to fulfill my ten-year dream, but walking in the ancient city, I saw Baoning vinegar everywhere. I asked what Baoning was, but few people knew it. It was strange to sell Baoning vinegar without knowing Baoning. Zhang Fei beef is sold in every shop, and I can't tell which one is authentic and which one is fake. It is said that all the beef in Langzhong is Zhang Fei's beef. I want to buy a few pounds to give to others, but I am afraid that people will laugh at me for being too expensive, so I am in a dilemma. However, the people here are very nice and they are very good at asking for directions.
Written to friends who came during the Chinese New Year! The ancient city is well preserved and the overall feeling is very good. There are many people during the Chinese New Year, and every street is very lively. There are exhibitions in the ancient town, and various themes are quite interesting. In addition to the new Internet celebrity stores (such as Thai Mang, Yogurt Cow, Barbecue, Old Yogurt, etc.), the most common commodities in the city are Baoning vinegar. I need to complain about public services. I got off the highway at 13:00 and drove according to the navigation. The local municipal government may have made a vehicle flow plan during the Spring Festival. Let the cars from other places detour, bypass the No. 2 Bridge, bypass the No. 4 Bridge. The whole circle around Langzhong. The idea of the plan is right to prevent congestion! As a result, the vehicles from other places are not familiar with the local road conditions. And the detour distance is super long. Many people start to doubt their lives while driving. They start to turn around and find the way while walking. This causes congestion at each intersection! I got off the highway at 13:00 and arrived at the entrance of the West Gate Scenic Area at 14:25! When I came out of the scenic area at 16:00, I encountered 3 accidents caused by out-of-town cars turning around! It was jammed again and again, and I finally arrived at the highway exit at 17:45! The official emergency plan was right, but out-of-towners were not familiar with the road conditions, which caused a traffic jam in the whole city. Every intersection was jammed! Very depressed.
Love it! The ancient city here can't wait for the loneliness of waiting for a romantic encounter, but can only see the New Year customs of perming hair and holding wintersweet. I have been to too many ancient towns, from south to north, from east to west, and finally feel that the wind of ancient town integration has not blown here. I can't buy all kinds of refrigerator magnets, but I can smell Baoning vinegar floating in the streets; I can't find a bar that stays up late at night, but I can meet aunties dancing folk dances; I can't stamp the streets, but I can count which gossip this is. I can also find a treasure before the successful application for World Heritage in this life!
Langzhong is an ancient town with a light commercial atmosphere and low consumption. Baoning vinegar, white steamed buns, and Zhang Fei beef are the specialties of Langzhong.
As one of the four ancient cities, Langzhong has very poor quality attractions in the city, but the scenery is super beautiful. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers and is full of historical sites. It is very suitable for a short stay, especially by the Jialing River, where you can leisurely drink tea and eat some Zhang Fei beef. It is very wonderful.
The best places to enjoy the panoramic view of Langzhong are Jinping Mountain opposite and the bridge.
Zhang Fei Temple, Baita Mountain, Zhongtian Tower, Sichuan Gongyuan, the food includes beef noodles, shuituozi, Zhang Fei beef, and vinegar foot bath.
I went to Langzhong during the National Day in 2017. It was not as beautiful as I imagined. The ancient city is very big. The ticket is 120 yuan. I don't recommend buying it unless you are interested in those buildings. The commercial atmosphere is too heavy and the original characteristics have been lost. Sitting by the river and eating Sichuan cuisine, and finding a small shop to soak your feet when you are tired are all good choices.
I like Langzhong, not because of the beauty of the Langyuan Wonderland in the brochure, or because of some kind of heroic complex. It is purely because I rediscovered a kind of human kindness that is about to disappear during my travels. The owner and the owner's wife like to bring their dog to eat at the wooden table, and then play TV series in the open yard, attracting many old people and young people to watch on time. Every morning and every evening when entering the hostel, they would ask "Are you back?" or "Did you have fun today?" When I heard it for the first time, I didn't know how to answer. The enthusiasm and simplicity of the people in Northeast Sichuan are lingering here. Things that have disappeared in the city for too long are slowly coming back to me.
I went there three times. It is a place worth staying and exploring slowly. The beef patties downstairs at Huaguang Building taste good. The "Gouxi River Wetland" not far away is also worth a visit.
Langzhong Ancient Town is one of the best-preserved ancient towns in Sichuan. It has a long history and was an important military town in the ancient Ba and Shu kingdoms. The famous general Zhang Fei of the Three Kingdoms once guarded the town again. The ancient town has many famous attractions such as Zhang Fei Temple, Baba Temple, and Chuanbei Dao Gongyuan.
Langzhong's famous snacks are very famous. Zhang Fei beef and Langzhong steamed buns are must-try when you go there. It is said that Langzhong steamed buns can be placed at room temperature for 100 days without getting moldy. I bought steamed buns in Nanchong and they really didn't go bad after being placed for a month. When you go to Langzhong Ancient City, you can taste beef noodles in the morning, the kind with sauce. Where is it specifically? You can consult me.
The Baoning vinegar in Langzhong is also very authentic. People in Langzhong generally don't catch colds, which is said to be due to the effect of Langzhong Baoning vinegar. If you want to bring Baoning vinegar, it's best not to buy it in plastic buckets.
Langzhong Ancient City is located in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, on the bank of Jialing River. It has a history of more than 2,300 years since its establishment and is one of the four major ancient cities in China. Langzhong Ancient City is definitely a much higher level than ordinary ancient towns. It feels like going to the World Cultural Heritage Site. All the signboards are in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and other languages. The shops in the ancient city are well-organized. It is not as over-commercialized as Lijiang and Dali Ancient City, nor is it as boring as other ancient cities. Below Langzhong Ancient City is the Jialing River, and there are ferries and cruise ships to cross the river. The accommodation in the ancient city is also quite atmospheric and upscale. Of course, there are also very friendly inns in the ancient city so you don’t have to worry about accommodation problems. You can also go to the Jialing River to set off lanterns at night.
Langzhong Ancient City is one of the four ancient cities. This is my second visit. I feel that the ancient city is still the same as it was eight years ago. It is more lively, cleaner, more standardized, and has more trees. The "Sichuan North Road Office" has been rebuilt and it doesn't have the old flavor. If you have time, it's best to choose good weather and avoid holidays. Accommodation is also cheap and there are few people. The experience is also very good. Eating in the ancient city is about the same as the general county town. If it's your first time, you can buy a ticket for each attraction for 110 yuan. If you don't want to enter the attractions, it is recommended to spend 15 yuan to climb the Huaguang Tower for viewing. It takes half a day to visit the attractions in the ancient city. On the second day, you can go to the Tengwang Pavilion, the Big Buddha Temple in Baita Park and other attractions around the ancient city.
