The Ten-Directions Samantabhadra Statue is a 48-meter-tall, 660-ton bronze and gilded Buddha statue, consisting of a pedestal and the Ten-Directions Samantabhadra Statue.
The ten heads of Samantabhadra are divided into three layers, representing the ten mentalities of the world. Inside the statue is a 484-square-meter Buddhist central hall, which houses a bronze statue of Amitabha Buddha and is surrounded by white marble Buddha statues.
“Ten Directions” refers to Samantabhadra’s ten great vows and his boundless vows that can satisfy all the Buddhas and sentient beings in the ten directions and three times.
--It will be very cold on the top of the mountain even in July and August, so you need to bring a coat when going up the mountain. However, you don’t need to rent a military coat in July and August, so don’t be fooled.

When climbing to the top of the Golden Summit, the most eye-catching thing is the Ten Directions Samantabhadra Statue. Some people call it the Samantabhadra Pagoda. It is 48 meters high and shining with golden light. Four six-tusked auspicious elephants stand on the Sumeru throne. Samantabhadra Bodhisattva holds a wish-fulfilling jewel in his hand. There are three layers of ten-faced statues facing different directions. The Ten Directions represent the ten great vows of Samantabhadra. The meaning expressed in the Buddhist scriptures is too profound for me to understand. For example, "giving" means giving money, Dharma principles, and faith to all living beings. Of course, this is extremely noble, but monks survive by begging for alms. Where do they get the money to give?
The statue of Samantabhadra was completed in 2006. The famous Taiwanese sculptor Zhan Wenkui was specially invited to design and produce it. You may not be familiar with Zhan Wenkui's name, but if you have visited Taiwan and visited the Puli Chung Tai Chan Monastery, you will remember him. He is good at using modern techniques and ideas to express Buddhist art images, and his works are all shocking. This statue of Samantabhadra is similar in style to the Chung Tai Chan Monastery, but the entire structure is reinforced concrete, and the carvings on it are made of gilded copper. It is said to weigh 660 tons, which is a very laborious project.
There is also a stairway in front of the statue, called the "Pilgrimage Avenue", with ten white elephants on each side, with the Buddha's halo and wish-fulfilling staff on their backs. Samantabhadra's mount is a white elephant, which was given to him by the Buddha Shakyamuni. The introduction to the scenic spot says that there are records of Samantabhadra preaching in Mount Emei during the Eastern Han Dynasty, and there are related texts in the Avatamsaka Sutra. As a Buddhist cultural holy place, there are so many temple relics and historical sites, which you should believe.
But I saw that the great Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai traveled to Mount Emei and wrote so many poems, but he never described the Buddhist temple or Samantabhadra. Instead, he described encounters with Taoist immortals in many places. In the Southern Song Dynasty myth of the Legend of the White Snake, Bai Suzhen was a disciple of the Lishan Laomu. She practiced Taoism in Mount Emei, ran to Hangzhou to fall in love, and returned to Emei to steal the immortal grass. She was like a person who could enter and exit an uninhabited place. And Samantabhadra did not discipline her? Although it is a myth, it also shows that Buddhism and Mount Emei were not closely related at that time.
The Ten-Directions Samantabhadra Golden Statue is located on the Golden Summit of Mount Emei. It is 48 meters high, weighs more than 600 tons, and has a construction area of 1,000 square meters. It is currently the largest and tallest Ten-Directions Samantabhadra statue in the world. The Golden Hall and the Bronze Hall have a construction area of 1,800 square meters. The Golden Hall has a copper-faced gilded roof and is currently the largest Golden Hall in China. The Avenue of Worship is 18 meters wide, 108 meters long, and has 10 levels. It is guarded by 10 pairs of elephants. It not only reflects the spirit and characteristics of Samantabhadra's diligent practice, but also contains the direction and path to guide sentient beings to worship Buddha. The 48-meter-high Golden Buddha represents the 48 wishes of Amitabha Buddha. "Ten Directions" firstly means Samantabhadra's ten great vows, and secondly, it symbolizes the ten directions of east, south, west, north, southeast, southwest, northeast, northwest, up, and down in Buddhism, which means that Samantabhadra's boundless vows can satisfy all Buddhas and sentient beings in the ten directions and three times. The ten heads of Samantabhadra are divided into three layers, with different expressions, representing the ten mentalities of the world.
Huge statue of Samantabhadra, Amitabha. Worship.
It's a very unique temple, but when I went there, the vegetarian meals had been stopped, so I didn't get to eat.
I went up Mount Emei today. It was foggy and visibility was low. I took the cable car to the top of the mountain. It was bright in front of me. The sun was shining. May the Buddha bless me🙏🙏🙏
It's just a very powerful Buddha statue... It just makes people feel awe.
The scenery above is really good, and the weather was great when we went there~
It's beautiful and worth visiting because it's the temple of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, so come and worship
But the surprise was more beautiful and shocking than expected
I just didn't see the Buddha's light. I heard that it requires luck.
But I am lucky to have the blessing and guidance of the Bodhisattva
The golden statue of Samantabhadra. The reason why Bodhisattvas are great and admired by thousands of people is that they can endure the cold and frost, the high temperature, the emptiness and loneliness, and go through thousands of mountains and rivers and thousands of difficulties to come to such a place to practice, stand higher and see farther, and see the scenery that others cannot see.
I had seen the Ten Directions Samantabhadra Bodhisattva on the Golden Summit in photos taken by others before, and I was attracted to it. When I saw it with my own eyes, I was shocked.
The statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva is golden under the sunlight and very beautiful.
There was quite a lot of fog on the mountain, but the four bronze statues were still spectacular.
It takes more than 2 hours to get to the Golden Summit by car. If you are short on time, you can’t do anything else and can only go to the Golden Summit.
The Ten Directions Samantabhadra is indeed very impressive and huge. It has many faces and many heads. (Because it has many heads, it still looks a bit scary.)
Last time I went there, it was a bit cold because I didn't wear enough clothes, but when I reached the top of the mountain, the scenery was really great! There were white clouds everywhere, and it felt so good! There was no end in sight!
It was very humid and a bit cold on the mountainside; it was a different scene when we reached the top. The blue sky, the golden Buddha, the fresh air, the beautiful sea of clouds, very lucky! The scenery was great, but the tickets and bus tickets were a bit expensive.
It is quiet and peaceful in the smoke of incense. The golden Buddha is shining in the sunshine of the first day of the new year, and it is surrounded by a dense crowd of people.
Walking forward all the way, I finally saw the holy image of Samantabhadra. I was extremely excited. The solemnity was so shocking that I really wanted to shout, "I finally saw it." At this moment, all my fatigue was swept away. Although I didn't walk the whole way, I was still carrying a heavy load. I didn't take the cable car, and I didn't even use the safety crutches in the end. I felt so happy to walk to the destination step by step. This moment was extremely special to me. Samantabhadra taught us to put the filial piety of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, the compassion of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and the wisdom of Manjusri Bodhisattva into practice and action in real life, so that we know that we must practice like Samantabhadra when we come to Mount Emei. Only after experiencing many hardships can we see the most beautiful scenery. Such a trip is so meaningful. I love this holy land. Every corner is full of spiritual energy. Seeing tourists and believers from all over the world bowing and kneeling in front of the Bodhisattva, their piety is touching. I also made a vow in front of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, wishing the Bodhisattva to bless and protect me.
It is very spectacular and majestic. One can already feel the Dharma of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva from the hillside.
The symbol of Mount Emei, Golden Summit. It was raining and foggy this time, but suddenly the sun came out. We were so happy! After the sun came out, the statue was magnificent and golden. This trip was worth it!
I went with a tour group. I arrived on the first day of climbing Mount Emei. I was taken to a Yi resort or something like that. We watched performances and had hot pot. I bought some silverware as gifts. The place I stayed was OK! The balcony was huge!
Located at the Golden Summit of Mount Emei, it not only embodies the spirit and characteristics of Samantabhadra's diligent practice, but also contains the direction and path to guide all living beings to worship Buddha.
It was so shocking... It was worth the trip.
We pressed the time and climbed to the Golden Summit from halfway up the mountain in 25 minutes. We just happened to see the sunset, the setting sun and the sea of clouds, which was very beautiful.

The ten heads of Samantabhadra are divided into three layers, with different expressions, representing the ten mentalities of the world. I heard that my parents' attributes are both in conflict with the year of Tai Sui this year, so I went with my friends to pray for my parents around the 48-meter-high Ten Directions Samantabhadra Giant Buddha in the world's largest Buddhist Square. I know... just to relieve the blockage in my heart.
There was heavy fog when we went there, and everything was blurry when we reached the Golden Summit. I hope we can have good weather next time we go there.
When I went there, the sky was awesome, and I felt like I was ascending to heaven.
The Ten-faced Samantabhadra is brighter and taller than expected~
The day I went there, the sun was shining brightly. I took photos from one side looking up, and it felt like the Buddha's light was shining everywhere. I specially took photos of the happy and joyful side, as well as the side holding the Ruyi.

2018.1.18 I climbed up to the Golden Summit of Mount Emei and saw the statue of Samantabhadra. The golden light was very shocking. Although the weather was gloomy, I still felt the charm of the statue.
We went there on New Year's Day, my girlfriend and I. We like to travel alone and never bring family members. We didn't check the weather before we went, and it snowed on the mountain. The shoes we wore were too slippery, so we bought anti-slip spikes to put on our shoes before we could walk. It felt like we still had to walk a long way after getting off the cable car, which was a bit tiring. But the beautiful scenery after reaching the top really made me feel that the tiredness was worth it.
My personal summary: 1. We did not book a room online in advance, so we had to look for it slowly when we got there, which was a serious waste of time.
2. I didn’t ask a few more people, and ended up getting ripped off. Don’t trust cheap things when you go out, sometimes you can be easily fooled
3. If you are going with children, you must prepare two young adults. I saw people bringing children along. Most of the children aged three to five were carried or carried on their backs. It's tiring to watch.
4. When the restaurant on the mountain is busy, the boss cannot handle it all. We waited for a long time and still had to serve the dishes ourselves, fearing that others would grab their orders first.
5. The local barbecue is grilled in bunches. We didn’t know that for the first time, so we each took a few skewers and the boss ignored us.
To sum up, I personally think that before going out, you must make adequate preparations in advance, read more guides, travel notes, etc., to reduce unnecessary anxiety during the trip and have fun.
住在金鼎大酒店,環境真的非常惡劣(一千二一晚,通過旅行社預定。去到才知道根本不用那麼貴)
It rained on the day we went there, which was really lucky! However, many devout believers were fearless of the wind and rain and kowtowed around the holy elephant. The scene was just like a pilgrimage in Tibet!
The Ten-Directions Samantabhadra Statue is the center of the Golden Summit. It is a bronze-cast and gilded Buddha statue, 48 meters high (representing the 48 wishes of Amitabha Buddha).
It is rare for an ordinary prefecture-level city to have so many world heritage sites.
It was spectacular. You could see it when you reached the top of the mountain. Many people gathered around to pray.
You must go to the Golden Summit when you go to Mount Emei! But it depends on your luck? The weather was super good when I went there last time! It was so beautiful that I could see the mountains in the distance!
The statue is very solemn and sacred, it is worth a visit
The Ten Directions Samantabhadra statue of Mount Emei is located on the top of the Golden Summit. The golden statue is very tall and gives you a solemn and shocking feeling. Mount Emei is very cool all year round and is a summer resort.
It is truly a shining golden light, and the Buddha’s light is everywhere.
I heard it was just gilded.
The Four Famous Buddhist Mountains in China, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva’s Light Shines on Mount Emei
On the first day, I hiked from the tourist center through the thin line of sky, 99 turns to Leidongping, stayed at Leidongping at night, and took the cable car from the Jieying Hall to the Golden Summit the next morning. It was the first time I saw such a spectacular sight. Although it was a little foggy with drizzle, the statue of Samantabhadra was so majestic and spectacular! It's worth seeing! If you have any wishes in your heart, you can make them silently! I heard that it is particularly miraculous. I also made a wish, and I hope it will come true this day next year! I look forward to coming to Mount Emei and the Golden Summit again next year!
When I reached the top of the mountain, my heart seemed to calm down, and I saw many devout believers along the way.
When you arrive at the Golden Summit, the first thing you see is the four-faced Buddha of Samantabhadra, who is famous for his virtues. Just by looking at the Bodhisattva, you can clearly see the east, west, south, and north. It is very majestic and dignified.
This is the highest point on the Golden Summit and the most famous Buddha statue in Mount Emei. It is very spectacular. Because of the heavy fog on the top of the mountain, the overall outline of the Samantabhadra statue cannot be seen clearly. There is a hazy sense of sacredness. There are many tourists praying to Buddha and burning incense next to it. I recommend everyone to come here to pray for peace and health for your family!
The mountaineering trip is also a pilgrimage, although I am not a believer. Everything is subject to the will of the Buddha.
It’s right on the Golden Summit, it looks spectacular and sparkling!
We arrived at the Golden Summit in the afternoon. The blue sky and white clouds matched with the golden Buddha statue were very beautiful. We were a little tired and excited. It is said that if you are lucky at noon, you can see the Buddha's light. We came here to burn incense in the morning, and the incense was also very strong.
It is magnificent and majestic, and is a holy place in the hearts of every believer!
I am full of respect for Buddhist culture!
The first time he went up the mountain, the Bodhisattva seemed shy;
The second time I went, I revealed my true face, and when I came back my girlfriend didn’t want me anymore.
The statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva is on the Golden Summit of Mount Emei, which is shrouded in clouds and mist most of the year. I have been there twice.
The Golden Summit of Mount Emei is the place where the most temples and scenic spots are concentrated in Mount Emei. It is the essence of Emei and houses the world's tallest golden Buddha - the four-faced Samantabhadra, which is even more spectacular.
The atmosphere is incredible~ I was wondering how such a big statue was made~~
Really beautiful in the sun, highly recommended!
The statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva is majestic and stunning.
I was just wondering how it was created. This Buddha statue is so beautiful. It must be the largest statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva in the world!
普贀菩薩聖像永遠是如此莊嚴,在祂身邊待上一會兒,祂會永遠在你心中住!!!
Mount Emei has rainy days for more than 280 days out of 365 days. I was lucky to catch the normal weather and climbed to the top of Mount Emei wearing stockings. It was raining, snowing and foggy. I could only see the scene in the photo. So friends who go there have to rely on luck~
I was lucky enough to see the sea of clouds on the day I went there, and the snow on the second day, which fulfilled my two wishes at once.
A place you must visit once in your life, an experience you will remember forever
In addition to the scenery of the Golden Summit, the most worth seeing thing in Mount Emei is the largest Ten-Directions Samantabhadra in China.
The Ten-Directions Samantabhadra Golden Statue is located at the Golden Summit of Mount Emei. It was completed on June 18, 2006. The Ten-Directions Samantabhadra statue got its name because there are four large heads on the top of the two main bodies; on top of the four large heads, there are four small heads on a lotus seat; on top of the four small heads, there are two small heads on a lotus seat. In total, there are ten heads facing ten directions, so it is called the Ten-Directions Samantabhadra.
The Ten Directions Samantabhadra is located on the Golden Summit of Wannian Temple. The Golden Summit was built later and is also the place where most tourists visit and take photos. Wannian Temple has a history of 400 years. By comparison, you can tell which one is more important.
The weather was bad when we went there, it was raining and the clouds were relatively low, so the photo effects were not very good.
It was my first time to look at the sky from an altitude of 3,700 meters. The first impression was unforgettable. I was amazed at the wonders of nature and the ability of human beings to transform the world. I will definitely go to Emei again.
The first thing you see when you reach the highest point of Mount Emei is this Buddha statue. It is really shocking and makes you reluctant to leave, but you have to leave because it is too cold at high altitudes. The Golden Summit is just behind this Buddha statue. When I first came up, the sky was still foggy. I thought it was a pity to come this time because I couldn’t see clearly. Unexpectedly, the fog dissipated in a short while, and the sky became clearer as I got higher.
I came to Emei Mountain just to climb to the top. I saw the statue before I even reached the top! It was covered with gold last year and looks very solemn! I have to worship it.
It was very shocking, and just looking at it from a distance gave me the motivation to climb up. Especially under the sunlight, I understood what it meant to be radiant with golden light and Buddha's light shining everywhere.
Buddha said: Be patient
The holy statue is at the Golden Summit of Mount Emei, and usually there is fog on the Golden Summit, visibility is low, and the holy statue of Samantabhadra will be a little hazy. But the weather in the mountains changes quickly, and you may burn a few incense sticks and kowtow a few times, and the sky may be clear in the next second.
ps: There are many predecessors of Shengxiang
It is very spectacular on a sunny day, but unfortunately it was cloudy when we went there. There was still heavy fog when we went there, and we couldn't see the Ten Directions Samantabhadra clearly. After a gust of wind, it appeared clearly in front of us. It's a predestined person haha
It's so golden! Go check it out! If you reach the top!
After watching the sunrise in the morning, I went out of the hotel again in the afternoon to take photos. This angle is so beautiful.
After getting off the ropeway, unfortunately the [Ten Directions Samantabhadra Statue] was shrouded in fog, and I could only vaguely see the Buddha's face, let alone the Buddha's light.
Maybe we are sincere, and soon the fog will clear.
Although it is impossible to see the Buddha's light, I can see the image of Samantabhadra.
The 48-meter-tall statue of Samantabhadra (representing the 48 wishes of Amitabha Buddha)
It is the tallest golden Buddha in the world and the center of Emei Golden Summit.
I remember when I came here earlier, there was no such attraction at all...
