Leidongping was a little disappointing to me because the fog was so thick that I couldn’t see what was around me at all. I could only see a vast expanse of white.
Leidongping is the starting point for taking the bus up the mountain, so it starts to get crowded. You must walk from Leidongping to Jieyindian and then take the cable car.
Emeishan Ski Resort was the first ski resort in Sichuan Province when it was built in 1998. It is located in the famous Emeishan Scenic Area, on the right side of the road next to the Leidongping parking lot.
The time was short, so I didn't go to the area near Leidongping.
On January 18, 2018, the whole family took the scenic area bus to Leidongping, had lunch, and started walking towards the Jinding Cableway; this is a large parking lot and dining center in Emeishan.
Accessible by car (but not by private vehicle), it's a great place to rest after a hike. It offers comprehensive facilities and numerous accommodation options, including 24-hour hot water and air conditioning. Compared to the accommodations at several temples along the way, it's a world apart. The climb to the Golden Summit takes only about two hours, and the cable car ride takes half an hour to the summit. The scenery is breathtaking, and you can enjoy the view from the parking lot, where you can admire the scenery below.
Leidongping is shrouded in clouds and mist all year round. It is the best place to view red leaves in autumn, from Shuangshuijing to Leidongping.
Leidongping is located halfway up the mountain in the Emeishan Scenic Area. It takes about an hour for a tourist bus to reach it from zero kilometer. The cable car is another 1.4 kilometers away. It is necessary to buy crampons here on foot. Wild monkeys often appear in Leidongping. It is worth noting that it is best not to hold snacks in your hands, otherwise you will be robbed.
This is a transit station on the way up the mountain. Accommodation and meals are relatively expensive.
The alpine azaleas are beautiful in spring and the dining area is convenient.
There is food and drinks, the scenery is average, so it's okay.
My review: This is the only place you need to go to reach the Golden Summit of Mount Emei. All cars can only park at Leidongping, and then walk up to take the cable car. The only way to see Leidongping is from the cable car.
Leidongping, a scenic spot in Mount Emei, is located on Lianwangpo, at an altitude of 2,430 meters. Anciently known as the Thunder God Temple, it is reportedly built during the Han Dynasty. A statue of Maitreya Buddha, simple and solemn in form, is enshrined in the center of the first floor. A pavilion stands to the right of the temple, with the inscription "Leidongting" in seal script on a stone embankment in front of it. An iron tablet once stood beside Leidongping, forbidding visitors from making loud noises, lest thunder and lightning, violent storms and heavy rains would ensue. Legend has it that there are 72 caves beneath the rocks, where the Dragon God and the Thunder God reside. During droughts, villagers would come here to pray for rain, throwing dead pigs and dogs, or women's clothing, shoes, and socks beneath the rocks, often resulting in thunderstorms. From Leidongping to the Jieying Temple, rare azaleas can be seen.
Lingjue Temple suddenly appeared before our eyes, and in the distance we could see a large area of lights. Leidongping had finally arrived. Because there was a parking lot nearby, this was a place where tourists gathered.
Leidongping is basically a must-see for day trips or summit climbs. It takes more than an hour to get to Leidongping from the visitor center. It snowed heavily the night before I arrived on Mount Emei, so I admired the vegetation along the way, from lush green to snow-covered. After a 1.5-kilometer hike to Leidongping, you can take the cable car, which takes only 40 to 50 minutes to reach the summit.
The most fun places are of course the Leidongping Monkey Area and the Leidongping Ski Resort.
On the way from Leidongping to Jieyin Temple, there is a canyon where monkeys beg for food every time you pass by. The scenery is beautiful, but be careful of monkeys snatching things hahahaha
The road was covered with snow and ice, and I was walking very fast, but I was very excited.

Leidongping is also a good attraction along the way. Anyway, you must not miss it if you pass by.
Dongping is the end of the sightseeing bus, and it is also a concentrated area for food and accommodation, because it is not far from here to take the cable car. I arrived at Leidongping at about 4 pm and booked a room at the nearby Kaiyu Hotel. It was 148 per night, which should not be expensive. After all, it is in this mountain scenic area. Fortunately, it is the off-season. The accommodation is quite good. I went out for a walk when I saw that I had time.
The mountain is steep, and you can see the sea of clouds and monkeys objectively. It is the passage leading to the Golden Summit cable car. Both sides of the plank road offer views on one side and are lined with shops on the other.
Leidongping, a scenic spot in Mount Emei, is located on Lianwangpo, at an altitude of 2,430 meters. Anciently known as the Thunder God Temple, it is reportedly built during the Han Dynasty. It was rebuilt during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, and relocated and rebuilt by the monk Xinliang during the Daoguang reign. During the Tongzhi reign, Sengjueyuan was relocated here, but later collapsed. In 1992, the Emeishan Buddhist Association rebuilt it. A statue of Maitreya Buddha, simple and solemn in its ancient form, is enshrined in the center of the first floor. To the right of the temple stands a pavilion, with the three characters "Leidongting" inscribed in seal script on a stone embankment in front of it.
Leidongping is bustling with tourists, especially along the road leading to the Jieying Hall. It's no wonder the monkeys chose to camp in this area; after all, the chances of a successful robbery are much higher there.
It's said there are three monkey families in this area, with each group consisting of at least a dozen individuals. Monkeys are often portrayed as clever and adorable, but here, we must not take them lightly: we once witnessed a group of monkeys attacking a woman, throwing her to the ground, tearing her hair, and holding her hands while searching her bag. It was a horrific sight.
Who allowed them to run wild? Every year, countless tourists are attacked by monkeys, suffering losses ranging from property damage to personal injury. This is the result of people's overindulgence of monkeys over the years.
The relationship between humans and monkeys is similar to interpersonal relationships. Being blindly attentive does not always gain respect. Only by being neither humble nor arrogant can peace be achieved.

The scenery here is very good, the view is relatively open, and there are a lot of monkeys!!!
Depending on the weather, most tourists choose to enter the mountain here.
Due to the altitude, I was pleasantly surprised to see a vast expanse of white snow when I arrived at Leiping Cave in March.
Leidongping is the terminus for the scenic area's sightseeing bus and a must-see on the way to Golden Summit, regardless of which route you choose. Located at an altitude of 2,430 meters, it sits on Lianwangpo, between Baiyun Pavilion and Jieying Hall. It boasts China's largest alpine rhododendron conservation area. The snow cover here lasts longer than at Golden Summit, and the area is often shrouded in mist. The 1.5-kilometer walk to the Golden Summit cableway (Jieying Hall) takes about 0.5-1 hour. Nearby attractions include a monkey sanctuary and a ski resort. The monkeys here are more civilized than those in the Qingyin Pavilion monkey sanctuary, but avoid provoking them. They stand on the road, waiting for food from passers-by, the clever monkeys peeling peanuts and sipping drinks.

During droughts, villagers come here to pray for rain, throwing dead pigs and dogs, or women's clothing, shoes, and socks beneath the rocks, often resulting in thunderstorms. Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty once bestowed upon the site the imperial calligraphy of the characters "Spiritual Awareness." To the right of the temple, amidst the cliffs, legend has it that there are the "Flying Sword Cave" (also known as the Immortal Sword), where Nuwa refined stone; the "Fuxi Cave," where Fuxi attained enlightenment; and the "Ghost Valley Cave," where Guiguzi wrote his works. Shrouded in mist and cloud, these caves are rarely visited.
Whether you're taking the cable car or hiking from Leidongping to the Golden Summit, you'll pass the Jieying Hall. The distance from Leidongping to the Jieying Hall is 1.5 kilometers, accessible by two routes. One is a direct, right-hand path accessible by car; the other is a winding, left-hand path, commonly known as the "Eighty-Four Bends." Tourists generally choose to hike the "Eighty-Four Bends," a journey that takes about half an hour.
We arrived at Leidongping by sightseeing bus at 6:00 PM. It had been raining non-stop, and the fog was quite thick on the mountain. The temperature was also much lower than at the foot of the mountain, so our down jackets and windbreakers came in handy. Leidongping is often a stopover for those planning to climb to Jinding (Golden Summit) the next day to watch the sunrise. Today, the rain was heavy and the fog thick, making the mountain scenery nearly invisible.
Accommodation: We booked the Qixiangju Hotel on Meituan before departure and were very satisfied. A clean room with heating, electric blankets, and hot water in the rainy mountains was such a blessing! The owner was very nice. We had dinner in the restaurant downstairs and even gave us rice dumplings for the Dragon Boat Festival. The restaurant serves mostly standard Sichuan cuisine, with some mountain specialties. We ordered a steamed cold-water fish, which is said to be a fish found only in the mountain springs. It was indeed very tender, but also expensive at over 200 yuan per pound. But since we were there, we still had to have fun and enjoy the food.
I plan to climb to the top to watch the sunrise tomorrow morning, but seeing the rainy weather, the sun may not show up, so it depends on my luck!
There is not much scenery in Leidongping, but it is a place where monkeys can be found in Mount Emei.
It is mainly a passenger transport center and parking lot. Due to the heavy fog, we did not stay for too long. We could vaguely see a few restaurants around. On the other side is the road up the mountain. Since it is much colder here than at the foot of the mountain, most people who take the bus up the mountain will rest here and put on some clothes. There are also down jackets for rent here.
Leidongping is generally very ordinary, just because it is a transportation fortress. Whether you walk or take a car, you can only get here, and then choose to take the cable car or walk later. It is considered a meeting point.
On January 1, 2016, I spent three days hiking from Chengdu to Mount Emei. We took a bus from Baoguo Temple to Wannian Temple and began our climb. The temperature was low, but the climb was intensely hot, and I was sweating profusely. It was pouring rain when we first set out, soaking our rain boots completely. As we climbed, the temperature dropped, and small patches of snow began to form. Near Xixiangchi, the snow was plentiful, and the paths were slippery. We also saw monkeys on the temple rooftops—the little ones were adorable, the older ones quite ferocious. As we continued up, the snowy scenery was stunning. Once we reached Leidongping, we could stop climbing. Yay! Skiing was also possible, which was quite good.
Take a bus to Leidongping, buy a ticket and take the cable car for 45 minutes. There are many cars and you can occasionally see little monkeys.
The transfer station to Jinding is accessible by bus. I climbed from Wuxiangang at 7:00 AM to Leidongping at 6:00 PM, rested overnight, and then climbed Jinding the next day. Leidongping has many places to stay and eat, and whether it's off-season or high season, you must bargain with the owner. Leidongping is not far from the ski resort.
Leidongping, located on the Lianwang Slope of Mount Emei, is approximately 2,450 meters above sea level. It is the highest point accessible by car in summer and is very close to the Golden Summit. The ski resort is open in winter, offering stunning snowy scenery. Interested readers can read my travelogue.
The last scene under the Golden Summit is snowy all the way to here. It is really unsafe and tiring.
There is no water for showers in the place where I stay at night
It was snowing heavily when I went there. I've never seen such thick snow before. It was truly a world of ice and snow.
As a must-go place for reaching the summit, Leidongping has relatively complete facilities, and you can see the Golden Summit and the scenery is also good. It can often be used as a stopover.
As soon as I got off the bus, the scenery was completely different. The ground was covered with snow. It was so beautiful.
This is also a signpost. There is a ski resort nearby and the accommodation conditions here are relatively good.
The ski slopes aren't very wide, but there are a variety of ice and snow activities. The section of plank road just outside the station is very icy due to heavy use, so be extremely careful when walking there; I've fallen there before. Winter is the dry season, so toilets often run out of water, which is a real nuisance.
A place you must go to. The more dangerous the place, the better the scenery. This is it.
Leidongping is a must-see on any trip to Mount Emei. After getting off the bus at Leidongping, everyone walks 30 minutes to the Jieying Hall. This short walk is well worth it. The mountain monkeys and snowy scenery along the way are a real treat for photos. One thing to note! One thing to note! The monkeys at Leidongping are incredibly aggressive. I even witnessed them snatching a girl's bamboo stick. So, never try to tempt them with food. After reaching the Jieying Hall, you can choose between ascending the mountain via a cable car (5 minutes) or walking (2 hours).
I recommend the accommodation here, which is cheaper than the Golden Summit, and there is enough time to climb the mountain and watch the sunrise the next day.
We reached Leidongping around 10 a.m., and by then, there were already a lot of people. Some were coming down the mountain to watch the sunrise, while others were taking buses up the mountain. If you didn't buy the 5-yuan ice grabbers at the bottom of the mountain, you'll have to buy them here for 10-20 yuan.
You can take a car up the mountain and ski here.
The scenery is like a dream, very beautiful.
That area is a popular destination for lazy people, and the local snacks and farm stays are mostly on the mountain. It's a bit messy anyway. It's a good place to go skiing in the winter. I haven't been there in the summer, but the view from afar should be nice.
There are buses going up directly from the foot of the mountain, and most tourists come up this way. I thought the prices here would be cheaper, but it is not.
We took a bus from Wuxiangang to Leidongping early in the morning to catch the sunrise. The ride from Qingyin Pavilion to Leidongping Mountain Road took about an hour, including a second ticket check at the zero-kilometer parking lot. There are many illegal taxis at Wuxiangang that claim to take you to Leidongping for 50 yuan. Don't be fooled. They only take you to the zero-kilometer parking lot, where you have to transfer to a bus. The bus to Leidongping is the only way up, and it's said that the bus also charges 50 yuan. It's a waste of money and time. Many people at Wuxiangang were tricked into taking illegal taxis, but we ended up arriving at Leidongping first. The official bus from Wuxiangang to Leidongping only costs 40 yuan. Don't be fooled.
Leidongping is located at the highest point on Mount Emei and is the last stop for the bus. There are many restaurants and hotels nearby. Because it's closest to the Golden Summit, many people choose to stay overnight to watch the sunrise and sunset. The hike from here to the Golden Summit takes about 30-40 minutes, and taxis are available nearby for 50 yuan per trip.
Transportation: Take a sightseeing bus from the foot of Mount Emei to the top, round trip 90 yuan per person, about a 30-minute ride. Tickets will be purchased at the entrance, 185 yuan, when the bus stops.
Leidongping is a transit point on the way to the Golden Summit. Parking and accommodation are available at Leidongping, and it's about a ten-minute walk from there to the Dai Jie Yin Dian (Jie Yin Dian) cable car to the summit. Near Leidongping is a wild monkey area, where the monkeys are more aggressive than those near Qingyin Pavilion. Be especially careful of monkeys snatching visitors' belongings. Leidongping also has a ski resort, which is generally only visited by skiers in winter. It's quite enjoyable and offers a chance to experience the thrill of skiing. If you plan to stay in Leidongping without booking a room in advance, arrive early to secure a room. The later you arrive, the fewer rooms there are, and the higher the price. Prices are generally high here. If you're traveling on a budget, bring some mineral water and instant noodles, as buying them here can be quite expensive. Leidongping can be cold both morning and evening, especially on foggy days, when temperatures can drop. Be sure to dress warmly.
The ski resort is very big. When we went there, there was an event going on. We skied for free for an hour. It was fun.
Leidongping has good accommodation conditions, but it is very difficult to book a room during the peak season.
As soon as we got off the car at Leidongping, we felt a distinct chill, so we quickly took out our coat and put it on. It turned out that it was a bit too early because we still had to continue climbing the mountain!
There is also a cable car from Leidongping to Jinding, but it takes about half an hour to walk to the Jieying Hall to take it. We decided to walk to Jinding. This section of the road is all uphill, and Leidongping is already 2,430 meters above sea level, which can only be said to be more difficult to reach the summit. Fortunately, the two of us were able to encourage each other, otherwise it would be impossible to persevere alone.

From Leidongping to the Jieying Temple, you can see the precious azalea. The Leidongping Ski Resort in Mount Emei is also open in winter, from December to February.
Leidongping is the gateway to Jinding and the final stop for the Mount Emei bus. I remember the last bus leaving at 5:30 PM, so those planning to visit Leidongping and Jinding should arrive early. The temperature plummeted as soon as we got off the bus at Leidongping. Wearing a cotton-padded jacket or down jacket is essential in July, let alone any other season. Fortunately, there's a clothing rental service for 30 yuan per down jacket, with no time limit, which made us much warmer. Accommodation in Leidongping is cheaper than Jinding. The three of us stayed in a suite for 280 yuan per night. You can always bargain with the hotel owner. If you're planning to visit Jinding the next morning to watch the sunrise, the hotel owner will help you get up early.
The surroundings had also changed. The road had become a flat, cobblestone path, surrounded by clumps of plants resembling tall shrubs with leaves resembling small loquats. Looking at them, I felt a sense of familiarity, but I couldn't recall their names. Then, a flash of inspiration struck me: These were alpine azaleas! (I'd looked up the azaleas on Jinfo Mountain this year, and they looked just like this.) Sure enough, as I walked further, I saw a sign for "Leidongping Alpine Azalea Viewing Area." Then, a golden temple came into view! I wondered, "Are we already in Leidongping? Happiness strikes so suddenly!!!" Continuing on, I found a wide open space ahead. Straight ahead lay a high mountain, shrouded in mist. At the foot of the mountain was a parking lot filled with buses. To the left lay a mist-shrouded cliff, and to the right were several hotels. This was undoubtedly Leidongping.
The road to Leidongping was also terrible, with an endless uphill section at the front and a flat road at the back. It took 11 hours to get here.
Although it’s only an hour’s drive from Qingyin Pavilion to Leidongping, the temperature is completely different! In the summer, everyone wears shorts and skirts at Qingyin Pavilion, but in Leidongping, they put on down jackets!
There is nothing much to do in Leidongping, just a station and a lot of places to stay.
In fact, Leidongping is equivalent to the function of Qingyin Pavilion in Zhongshan District - a transit station. It and the zero kilometer point outside the mountain gate are equivalent to transit stations in the mountainous area. The disadvantage is that there are too many people and not many attractions to see.
The scenery at the place where the cable car is located is average, hehe.
The best place to stay when climbing Mount Emei, with many accommodation options and close to the Golden Summit;
It takes about half an hour to walk from Leidongping to the cable car.
It takes about an hour and a half to walk from Leidongping to Jinding.
These cliffs look like they were cut by a knife from the gods.
After Daleidongping, the sky was covered with snow, and the scenery was still great, especially for us who came from the south.
When we arrived at Leidongping, there were small snowflakes floating in the air, and the whole place was covered in silver.
The accommodation in Leidongping is more than 200, which is a bit expensive for one person.
Standing on the top of Leidongping Mountain and looking out at Leidongping, you can not only see the beautiful sea of clouds, but also enjoy the feeling of being about to ascend to heaven.
I'd heard many people choose to stay here, but recently many small hotels have been demolished. When we went, we found many still under construction. Arriving at Leidongping, we met people who had driven up the mountain themselves. Driving seemed quite relaxing, but without the climb, you'd miss out on the scenery. Arriving at Leidongping, it felt quite cold, so I rented a coat for 25 yuan, so I decided to get one.
It's snowing heavily here. It's raining at the foot of the mountain. It's snowing here. The sun is shining on the top of the mountain. This is a good place to watch the snow.
Leidongping is where the mountain road returns to the highway. There are many people, cars and monkeys here. Leiyin Temple has been renovated and is now magnificent, very high-end and luxuriously equipped.
The Emeishan Ski Resort covers an area of 15 mu (approximately 16 acres) and boasts comprehensive facilities and facilities. Nestled against the mountainside, the resort boasts lush vegetation and a beautiful environment. With an average annual temperature of 5°C, the resort snows from early October to late March, with snow accumulation reaching approximately one meter, providing an ideal venue for skiing and snowboarding.
