Wannian Temple is located opposite the Golden Summit. It is the oldest temple in Mount Emei and is always popular.
Inside the temple, there is a Buddhist building modeled after the Indian Rena Temple, which is very exotic and unique among the numerous Chinese-style temple buildings in Mount Emei.
The temple has a quiet environment and preserves a large number of historical inscriptions, the most famous of which is the "First Mountain Stele" written by Song Dynasty calligrapher Mi Fu.
Wannian Temple can be reached by cable car or on foot for 40 minutes. The environment is quiet and the artistic conception is profound. Buddhists may also come here to burn incense.

The original plan was to walk from Wuxiangang to Wannian Temple, but the shuttle bus driver kindly reminded us that it would be very tiring to go up the mountain, so he suggested that we walk from Wannian Temple to Wuxiangang.
Buddha statues are neatly arranged on the walls. Prayer pendants are everywhere. Moss covers the walls and the ground. Light a red pillar to ward off disasters and pray for blessings.
Wannian Temple is at a relatively low altitude, so it was still damp, like autumn, with fallen petals scattered among the lush greenery. If it happened to be autumn, it would be purely coincidental.
Wannian Temple is located at the foot of Guanxin Ridge in the eastern mountain area of Mount Emei, at an altitude of 1,020 meters. With a history of over 1,600 years, it is one of the oldest temples in Mount Emei.
Wannian Temple was first built in the second year of the Yuanxi reign of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and was originally named Puxian Temple. In the third year of the Qianfu reign of the Tang Dynasty, abbot Huitong rebuilt the temple. According to the Five Elements theory, Mount Emei is associated with fire, and temples were often burned down, so the name was changed to Baishui Temple. During the Song Dynasty, it was renamed Baishui Puxian Temple. In the 29th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, after the beamless brick hall was completed, the name was changed to "Shengshou Wannian Temple," a name that has remained to this day.
There are 214 steps in front of the mountain gate. Climb up the steps and you will reach the mountain gate of the temple.
Wannian Temple, one of the oldest ancient temples on Mount Emei in Sichuan, is one of the eight major temples on Mount Emei. It boasts scenic spots such as the Beamless Brick Hall, the Towering Treasure Hall, and the White Water Pond. Currently, a cable car connects the Wannian Parking Lot to the temple, making it a popular starting point for tourists ascending Mount Emei. Wannian Temple boasts a majestic mountain gate, Maitreya Hall, Guanyin Hall, Prajna Hall, Pilu Hall, the Beamless Hall, the Towering Treasure Hall, the Main Hall, the Bell and Drum Tower, and the Xingyuan Hall. Furthermore, gardens, pavilions, and ponds abound, making this garden-style temple the largest on Mount Emei.
The main thing to see is the pillarless and beamless hall. The scenery inside the temple is quite good.
The temple is quite large and popular, but there are very few local tourists, most of whom are tourists like us who come with tour groups.
There are many ancient temples in the Wannian Temple Scenic Area. The white water pool in the temple is rippling with clear water. A magical piano-playing frog lives in the pool. As long as someone claps their hands, these frogs will make rhythmic sounds, which are quite different from the sounds of ordinary frogs. It is like playing the piano.
The beamless hall looks a bit like Islamic architecture, and it looks very nice in the photos.
The director spoke very well, but I have to say that the tickets to Mount Emei are very expensive.
A temple with history that you must pass by when going to Mount Emei!
It took an hour to walk from Jiewangting in the Zhongshan District of Mount Emei to Wannian Temple. Because the cashier went back for a break halfway through, we didn't realize we had any cash until we got there. The security guard first told us not to use our phones near the temple, and then, knowing we didn't have any cash, told us to exchange our WeChat red envelopes for cash with other tourists. That felt really bad. Then, they kept refusing to give us hot water inside the entrance without us buying tickets. It was a terrible feeling!
Wannian Temple is one of the eight major temples in Mount Emei and one of the key temples in the country. Many tourists who come to Mount Emei choose Wannian Temple as one of the starting points for the formal mountain climbing from the bottom to the top.
Wannian Temple feels like a secluded retreat deep in the mountains. You need to buy a separate ticket to enter, which cost around 20 yuan. We didn't go in, but I've read that this temple is probably the most unique in Mount Emei, with a strong Indian style. We couldn't take the cable car when we got there, so we walked. If you're not physically fit, don't go; the road is winding and winding.
Wannian Temple, at an altitude of 1,020 meters, stands majestically atop a peak rising from the hills below Luotuo Ridge. It is the chief of the six ancient temples of Mount Emei. Originally a grand seven-story temple, it has undergone several ups and downs, and now only a single beamless Ming Dynasty brick hall remains.
It has a long history and is very good. You can learn a lot of history
Wannian Temple is said to be very sacred. When I visited, I happened to see a pilgrim group. The women chanted sutras before the statue of Samantabhadra. The sound was so moving that it brought me to tears. However, the scenic area charges a lot. You have to buy a temple entrance ticket after buying the main entrance ticket. The cable car ride from the main gate to Wannian Temple costs 20 yuan. They don't even offer a free stick of incense; you have to pay for it. This was extremely frustrating. The vegetarian meal was 20 yuan and was delicious.
The architectural style is different from other temples and is worth a visit.
In the center of Wannian Temple there is an Indian-style temple, symbolizing the roundness of the sky and the squareness of the earth.
Moreover, this temple enshrines Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, and the statue of Samantabhadra inside is very lifelike.
Wannian Temple can be traced back to the Song Dynasty and has a history of 1,000 years.
It can be said to be a thousand-year-old temple
This building has no beams, just like the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing, and is a very distinctive building.
As long as you clap your hands by the pond, you can hear the croaking of the harp frog.
There are harp-playing frogs in the temple pond, and the sounds made by these frogs are like playing the harp.
The Wuliang Hall, so-called because it is constructed entirely of bricks, was built by Emperor Wanli to celebrate his mother's birthday. Inside the hall is a bronze statue of Samantabhadra.
After visiting the Ten-Directions Samantabhadra Statue and Huazang Temple at Golden Summit, take the cable car back to Leidongping and then a sightseeing bus to the Wannian Temple parking lot. You'll visit Wannian Temple, Qingyin Pavilion, Yixiantian (One Line Sky), and the ecological monkey area. This is mostly a walking tour, so it's recommended to depart Golden Summit early to avoid interrupting your itinerary. Wannian Temple is definitely worth a visit!
Wannian Temple is one of the more accessible sections of Mount Emei Scenic Area, as it only takes about ten minutes to drive or take a bus from the foot of the mountain, making it suitable for the elderly and families with children.
This hall houses a golden statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. Touching the hind legs of the elephant under his seat is said to cure joint diseases. I touched it anyway.
The oldest and most beautiful temple, spend a night here.
Mount Emei, a renowned Buddhist mountain, is home to many temples. Wannian Temple is one of the eight major temples on Mount Emei. Located midway up the mountain, Wannian Temple boasts a unique architectural style and is a popular destination for worshippers. The air is pristine, and the scenery is breathtaking, making it a worthwhile visit.
My review: This is an unimportant and uninteresting attraction in Mount Emei. It's a forced addition. Don't go.
Wannian Temple is one of the oldest ancient temples in Mount Emei, Sichuan. It is said to be the place where Pu Gong, an old man who collected herbs in the Han Dynasty, worshipped Buddha. It was named Puxian Temple when it was founded in the fifth year of Long'an in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (401). It was rebuilt by Huitong in the third year of Qianfu in the Tang Dynasty (876) and renamed Baishui Temple. It was called Baishui Puxian Temple in the Song Dynasty. When it was rebuilt in the 28th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1600), Emperor Shenzong bestowed the title "Shengshou Wannian Temple", which has been called to this day. Wannian Temple is one of the eight major temples in Mount Emei and one of the key temples in the country. It has attractions such as the beamless brick hall, the towering treasure hall, and the Baishui Pool. Currently, there is a Wannian parking lot near the temple, which is connected to the temple by a cable car. Therefore, many tourists who come to Mount Emei use Wannian Temple as one of the starting points for the formal mountain climbing from the bottom to the top; other tourists use this place as the end point of their mountain tour. In addition, there is a temple with the same name in Tiantai Mountain, Zhejiang, which also has a long history.
The royal temple - Wannian Temple is where the real heart and brain of Samantabhadra are buried.
Wannian Temple was built in the Ming Dynasty and is one of only two Buddhist buildings in the country that does not have trimmed beams.
The map with distances on it seems a little off. It said the distance from Qingyin Pavilion to Wannian Temple was 2 kilometers, but it took us a full hour to walk to Wannian Temple. Wannian Temple was founded in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and was named Puxian Temple. It was rebuilt by Huitong Zen Master during the reign of Emperor Xizong of the Tang Dynasty and renamed Baishui Temple. In the Song Dynasty, it was renamed Baishui Puxian Temple. Emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yijun, inscribed "Shengshou Wannian Temple" for short. It is one of the six earliest ancient temples in Mount Emei and the largest temple in Mount Emei. When Li Bai visited Mount Emei, he stayed at the Pilu Hall of Wannian Temple. He once listened to Monk Guangjun playing the zither and wrote "Listening to the Sichuan Monk Jun Playing the Zither": "The Sichuan monk holds the Green Qi and descends the Emei Peak to the west. He waves his hand to me, and it's like listening to the pines in the valleys. The guest's heart is washed by the flowing water, and the lingering sound enters the frosty bell. I don't realize the dusk on the green mountains, and the layers of dark autumn clouds."
You can feel the temple atmosphere of Wannian Temple at the foot of the mountain. Although I have never been up there, the surrounding scenery is also impressive.
The food is not good and expensive. The scenery is average, but the culture is good.
Wannian Temple is located in the Zhongshan section of Mount Emei, more than 10 minutes away from Wuxiangang Station. There are many temples on the mountain and they are similar. If it is not necessary, you can skip it.
I think Wannian Temple is definitely worth a visit; it offers a completely different experience from the Golden Summit. It's the sanctuary of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva and is very popular. It wasn't crowded the day I went, and the atmosphere was orderly. I was a bit pressed for time, but next time I go, I'll definitely make Wannian Temple my first stop.
Wannian Temple is one of the oldest ancient temples in Mount Emei, Sichuan. It is said to be the place where Pu Gong, an old man who collected herbs in the Han Dynasty, worshipped Buddha. It is one-third of the way up the mountain, and we stayed here for one night.
Wannian Temple currently has a majestic mountain gate, Maitreya Hall, Guanyin Hall, Prajna Hall, Vairocana Hall, Wuliang Hall, Wei'e Hall, Daxiong Hall, Bell and Drum Tower, and Xingyuan Hall. There are also gardens, pavilions, pools, etc. This garden-style temple has become the largest temple in Emei Mountain.
Wannian Temple is average, but there are many monkeys in the temple.
Wannian Temple, one of the oldest temples on Mount Emei in Sichuan, was the only temple we visited on our trip. The entrance fee was ten yuan. I was too tired that day and eager to see the monkeys, so I didn't go in, just snapping a photo at the entrance. I have to complain here: the public services in Mount Emei are terrible, with fake goods everywhere. Our tour guide was also terrible. After we got to the mountain, we went to her relative's house for tea and asked us to buy some tea, which ultimately prevented us from going up the mountain to see the monkeys. If you go again, I recommend skipping the tour guide and doing your own research beforehand. You can completely explore on your own.
The "Beamless Hall" of Wannian Temple has no beams or pillars and does not use a single piece of wood.
History is the main point, the scenery is average, the key point is the statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva inside, which has a very interesting origin and was built with money allocated by the emperor at that time.
If you are not a Buddhist, there is really no need to go in. The ticket is 10 yuan, and besides admiring the architecture, you can also burn incense.
Wherever there is a mountain, there must be a temple. The temple must be located in a high place with excellent feng shui and be increasingly popular.
Wannian Temple is quite unique. The explanations given by the reception monk are particularly insightful. In the immortal realm, just like in the human world, each official (or deity) has their own duties. For example, Guanyin Bodhisattva oversees women's issues, much like the director of the Women's Federation in the human world. If you want to find a job or study, don't bother Guanyin Bodhisattva, as these matters fall outside her jurisdiction. If you pray to the wrong Bodhisattva, you might end up "seeking a deity easily but finding it difficult to send it away." How can you worship the right Bodhisattva? Here's the correct method: determine which Bodhisattva governs your zodiac sign, and worship that one accordingly. There's a room filled with Bodhisattva statues, with the zodiac signs listed below. Tourists flock to check their own zodiac signs. Wannian Temple also has a crystal display room, all produced in Sichuan.
It is a Buddhist holy place, so I didn’t dare to wander around, but I think it is seriously commercialized.
It is worthy of being an ancient temple in a famous mountain. The temple is very large. I took the cable car to Wannian Temple on purpose. There were not many people there, and it was quiet and far-reaching.
Ming Dynasty Emperor Shenzong Zhu Yijun inscribed the name "Shengshou Wannian Temple," also known as Wannian Temple. It is one of the six oldest ancient temples in Mount Emei. Tickets are sold separately for 10 yuan. The temple's beamless hall, so-called because of its entirely brick structure, was built in 1600 as a birthday gift for his mother.
Wannian Temple is opposite the Golden Summit and can be reached on foot or by cable car. It is said to be the oldest temple in Mount Emei. There is an additional fee to enter the Wannian Temple, and the incense inside is still very prosperous.
The plum tree in front of the main hall is elegant and graceful, with a faint fragrance and sparse shadows. The beamless brick hall is extremely magnificent, imitating the structure of the Indian Raja Temple. Inside is a bronze statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva riding a six-tusked white elephant. It is said that the beamless brick hall has not been affected by countless earthquakes and fires over the centuries. I must pay my respects. On our way down the mountain, I missed the monkey area on Qingyin Terrace due to lack of strength. I didn’t see any groups of monkeys. When the children and I were feeling depressed, suddenly a big monkey appeared by the roadside, squatting there, as if waiting for us. I quickly threw out the monkey food I had bought in advance, and my mood immediately brightened. I felt that Samantabhadra Bodhisattva heard our voices and sent the monkey. Thank you, thank you Samantabhadra Bodhisattva!
This is a temple that you have to buy a ticket to enter, but when you enter the temple, there are monkeys blocking your way. The monkeys are too fierce. They just snatch things away.
The architectural style is unique and the surrounding environment is also very good.

One thing I must say is that they charged an additional 10 yuan to enter the temple. While not much, each visitor already paid 185 yuan for the mountain entrance ticket! Such a humiliating charge is so disappointing! The Tourism Bureau really needs to crack down on these ungrateful people who charge unscrupulously!
I went there at night and it was very quiet. It was also very beautiful to take pictures. It is worth a visit.
Wannian Temple is my favorite place to visit besides the Golden Summit sunrise. Unlike Baoguo Temple and Fuhu Temple, Wannian Temple is located in the heart of Mount Emei. It's like asking a boy under a pine tree, and he told me he was out gathering herbs.
"Only in this mountain, where the clouds are so deep, I cannot imagine where I am." Upon entering the temple, one can sense its ancient tranquility. The unique main hall, the diverse stone statues lining the path, the compassionate Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, and the devout pilgrims—Wannian Temple offered a completely different experience than any temple I've visited before.
We heard that the parking fee for three days at Wannian Temple was more than 100 yuan, but it was only a few dozen yuan, which was beyond my expectation.
Wannian Temple is located deep in the valley, surrounded by mountains, and the temple also has exotic features
Wannian Temple plays an important role in the history of Sino-Japanese Buddhist cultural exchanges. The Japanese Buddhist community believes that Wannian Temple is the ancestral temple of the Rinzai and Soto sects in Japan.
It is very different from the surrounding architectural style and resembles a yurt.
The four major landscapes in the Emeishan Scenic Area are very famous, especially the Golden Summit, which is said to be very majestic, but we didn't have enough time to go there. We went to the Wanguo Temple, which is very popular. It is recommended to worship Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. It is really worth visiting.
If you have time, you should visit every temple in Mount Emei. Some are bustling with people, while others are deserted. Wannian Temple is quite popular, but the steps at the main entrance can be a challenge for some. For example, we, the parents with a little monkey girl, were worried about the monkeys begging for food at the entrance, so we needed to be careful. My husband introduced a bunch of Samantabhadra Bodhisattvas and other things, but I didn't remember them all because I was busy with the baby. Weiwei was only one year and three months old at the time and had no idea how to worship the Bodhisattvas. My husband taught her to kneel down and say congratulations. Okay, I shouldn't laugh like that. But Wannian Temple is really nice and worth a visit.
It is said that the Buddha statues inside are amazing. Unfortunately, we hiked all the way down the mountain from the Golden Summit and were exhausted when we reached Wannian Temple. We wanted to get back to the villa before dark, so we did not enter the temple, which was a bit regrettable.
It's a temple on the mountain, the scenery is quite beautiful
Wannian Temple is the first of the six ancient temples in Mount Emei. It has produced many eminent monks and is rich in Buddhist cultural relics of extremely high quality.
Take the bus to Wannian Temple with the tourist ticket you bought yesterday
The mountain road is steep and the driver is driving very fast.
People who get carsick are best to take motion sickness medicine
Wannian Temple is not recommended. If you are a Buddhist and want to worship Buddha or have a ceremony, you can still go and have a look. After all, it is under the protection of a famous Buddhist mountain, but it does not have any special features.
It still has the atmosphere of an ancient temple, and the incense is quite popular.
There were really a lot of people in Nian Temple. The ticket was 10 yuan, so I bought the ticket and went in and took a walk around.

If you want to buy Buddhist beads or Buddha statues, it is recommended to buy them at Wannian Temple. The price is cheaper than Jinding and the quality is the same!
There are stairs all the way from Wannian Temple Station to Wannian Temple, but from Wannian Temple to Qingyin Pavilion it is down stairs all the way, which is much easier!
Inside is the Beamless Hall, the dojo of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva.
The Wuliang Hall is very popular.
Samantabhadra Bodhisattva rides an elephant, which is very gorgeous and magnificent.
The temple is nice, but the rest area outside the temple is only selling things, and there is no toilet (when I went there in April, the two toilets above and below the stairs were under repair at the same time)
After driving down from Jinding, we arrived at Wannian Temple. It's quite large and bustling, but there were a few vendors selling their wares outside. Still, I quite enjoyed the temple and courtyards, especially the pond where I took a photo of two giant turtles. Are they a thousand years old? Haha!
Here, I finally found that feeling of being in a famous mountain, surrounded by tourists. It seemed as if everyone had gathered here. Wannian Temple is a must-see because this thousand-year-old temple has a beamless brick hall, which houses a bronze statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva riding a six-tusked white elephant from the Song Dynasty. It is the incarnation of Samantabhadra's true body. If you want to worship Samantabhadra, the one on the Golden Summit is not authentic; this one is the most effective. Wannian Temple is far more popular than the Golden Summit.
Wannian Temple is one of the oldest ancient temples in Mount Emei, Sichuan. According to legend, it was the place where Pu Gong, an old man who collected herbs in the Han Dynasty, worshipped Buddha.
The incense is very strong and there are many tourists. People with sincere hearts can go and worship.
Although I'm not a fan of overly busy temples, I still think this is a memorable place because I was with my favorite friends. My company organized a group trip to Mount Emei, and the schedule was tight, with only half a day. Let's go see the flowers.
It is a sacred and solemn place. I am not a devout Buddhist, but once I enter, I will respect all the rules inside from the bottom of my heart.
This is a regular temple where you can go to burn incense. If you don’t have religious beliefs, you can skip this attraction.
After disembarking the cable car and walking uphill for a short distance, you'll reach your destination, Wannian Temple. Admission is 10 yuan. Wannian Temple, facing west and east, boasts a well-organized layout. From the mountain gate, the temple boasts the Maitreya Hall, the Pilu Hall, the Beamless Brick Hall, the Wei'e Hall, and the Daxiong Hall. The most legendary building in the entire temple is the Beamless Brick Hall, also known as the Samantabhadra Hall. The statue of Samantabhadra riding an elephant, enshrined in the Beamless Brick Hall, is the temple's most treasured item. Modeled after the ancient Indian Rehman temples, it possesses a distinctly exotic character.
