Introducing Jinyang Pass

Jinyang Pass is located on the border between Zhangqiu and Laiwu, between Sanhuaishu Village in Wenzu Town and Niangniangmiao Village in Shangyou Town. A key pass on the Qi Great Wall during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Jinyang Pass is located in Xueye Town, Laiwu City, Shandong Province. Of the Zhenyang Pass Great Wall, 0.6 kilometers of relatively intact stone walls remain, with the highest section of the remaining wall reaching 7.5 meters and the thickest 6 meters. Famous historical events in China, such as the Battle of Changshao, the Battle of Ai Ling, and the Battle of Ying, all took place in the area around Jinyang Pass and Qingshi Pass.

Jinyang Pass, also known as Tongqi Pass, is one of the three most important passes on the Qi Great Wall. Originally a stone arched gate, it stood 6 meters high, with a 4-meter-wide, 8-meter-deep opening. Above the gate, the characters "Jinyang Pass" (40 cm x 35 cm) were carved in relief on a 2-meter-long, 50-centimeter-wide bluestone. The platform above the gate is surrounded by battlements and houses a Guandi Temple, housing several painted sculptures. The two gates are made of wood with iron hoops and locked with a 15-centimeter-diameter horizontal bar.
