Atlanta Airport

How do I go about being dropped off and picked up at the airport? We usually use off-airport parking so I'm not sure how to go about this. Flying Delta so I know to go to South terminal to be dropped off but when I get back and pick up my bag, where is private pick-up? I know there is a cell phone lot where they can wait for my call. Any help is appreciated.

Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport (ATL) is designed to handle a high volume of travelers, so understanding the drop-off and pick-up procedures can make your trip much smoother, especially if you usually use off-airport parking.

Drop-Off

  • Since you’re flying Delta, go to the South Terminal (Concourse T) for your drop-off. Follow the signs for Departures and Delta Airlines.
  • Pull up to the designated curbside area for your terminal. You can unload luggage directly at the entrance before the driver leaves.
  • There is a short-term stop area for quick drop-offs; do not leave the vehicle unattended in this zone, as it is meant for immediate unloading only.

Pick-Up / Returning to ATL

  • After you land, collect your luggage from the baggage claim area. Delta arrivals are at the South Terminal.
  • ATL has a designated ride-share and private vehicle pick-up area. These are clearly marked and separated from the short-term parking areas.
  • If your driver prefers to wait in a private lot instead of circling the terminal, the airport provides a Cell Phone Waiting Lot. The driver can wait there for free and then proceed to the terminal once you’ve called or texted them.
  • The Cell Phone Lot is located just off Airport Blvd, with clear signs for entrance and exit. Drivers can stay there for up to 60 minutes without paying fees.
  • Once you’re ready, the driver can enter the terminal curbside lane at the Arrivals area to meet you and load luggage.

Tips

  • Communicate with your driver about your baggage status before they proceed from the Cell Phone Lot to avoid circling.
  • Allow extra time during peak hours or weekends, as ATL can be busy and terminal traffic may be heavier than expected.
  • If you have a small bag and want minimal waiting, some travelers arrange for their driver to meet them at a nearby hotel or off-airport location, but the official pick-up zones are generally easier to navigate for first-time visitors.

Overall, the combination of terminal curbside pick-up and the Cell Phone Lot makes it convenient for private cars, ride-share services, or friends/family to meet you at ATL without stress.
