visit Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, Zhuhai

Hi

We are planning a trip to Guangzhou, China in November this year.

We would like to travel to Macao then to Hong Kong over land.

We really would like to visit Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, Zhuhai. Here I need some information. I see the Ocean Kingdom is shorter distance from Macao then Zhuhai City.

I will have 2 days in hand to visit Ocean kingdom and Macao before going to Hong Kong

Please need suggestions where to stay and how to travel to Ocean Kingdom. I have seen there is hotel next to Ocean kingdom but unable to find them in Agoda or similar hotel booking sites. Or is it better to stay in Macao and in that case how to get transport both ways across borders (I think there is a border crossing)

Please suggest where to book the train and bus tickets and ocean kingdom tickets.

Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Zhuhai is one of the largest theme parks in China and is indeed closer to the Hengqin area near the Macau border than central Zhuhai city. Since you have 2 days to visit both Ocean Kingdom and Macau before heading to Hong Kong, planning your stay efficiently will help you maximize your time.

Accommodation options:

  • Staying near Chimelong Ocean Kingdom: There is a Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel and other resort hotels very close to the park entrance. These are the most convenient if your main goal is the theme park. They may not always appear on Agoda or similar booking sites; it’s recommended to book directly via the official Chimelong website or international hotel booking platforms that list resort properties.
  • Staying in Macau: If you prefer sightseeing in Macau first, you can stay in Macau hotels. However, note that traveling from Macau to Chimelong requires border crossing at the Gongbei Port of Entry and then onward transport to the park, which can take 1–1.5 hours depending on traffic and customs clearance.

Transport to Chimelong Ocean Kingdom:

  • From Macau: Take a taxi or cross the Gongbei border into Zhuhai, then take a local taxi or shuttle bus to Chimelong Ocean Kingdom. Some hotels and tour operators in Macau may offer shuttle services.
  • From Zhuhai City: You can take local buses, taxis, or hotel shuttles. The park is located in Hengqin New Area, which is well signposted and connected.
  • If staying at the Chimelong hotel, walking or short shuttle transfers are possible.

Tickets booking:

  • Ocean Kingdom tickets: Purchase online directly from the official Chimelong website or authorized travel platforms. Online booking may give you a discounted rate or allow skip-the-line privileges.
  • Train tickets (Guangzhou to Zhuhai/Macao): Use China Railway’s official website, 12306.cn, or apps like Ctrip/Trip.com. High-speed trains run frequently between Guangzhou South Station and Zhuhai Railway Station.
  • Bus tickets: Local buses can be bought at stations or via apps. Shuttle buses from hotels to the park can also be reserved directly with the hotel.

Suggested itinerary:

  • Day 1: Arrive in Macau, explore key attractions, and overnight in Macau if you want a city experience.
  • Day 2: Travel to Chimelong Ocean Kingdom early in the morning, spend the full day at the park, and stay overnight at the Chimelong hotel for convenience.
  • Day 3: Travel from Chimelong/ Zhuhai to Hong Kong via the Gongbei border, taking a combination of taxi/shuttle and the MTR through Shenzhen if needed.

Tips:

  • Check visa requirements for crossing between Macau, Zhuhai, and Hong Kong.
  • Book your hotel near Chimelong well in advance, as it is a popular resort.
  • Allow extra time for border crossing between Macau and Zhuhai, especially on weekends or holidays.
  • Consider pre-purchasing tickets for Ocean Kingdom to avoid long lines.

By staying at Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel, you minimize travel time and can enjoy the park fully, while a stay in Macau gives you a city and cultural experience but requires more travel to the park.
