Parking on Jones St St Pats Weekend

Hi everyone.

We have a hotel near the mall (to save money) but I think we may change to an Airbnb that is on Jones St right by Forsyth. Question is, do you think I will have trouble finding a spot on Friday March 15th around 3pm? We plan on parking and leaving the car all weekend..

Figured it may be a long shot but I fell in love with this listing.

Any advise appreciated!

Parking in Savannah during St. Patrick’s Weekend can be challenging, especially near Forsyth Park and popular areas like Jones Street. March 15th is right in the heart of the weekend’s festivities, and arriving around 3 PM on a Friday means you may encounter limited on-street parking, as many spots will already be taken by residents, tourists, and event-goers.

If you plan to park and leave your car for the entire weekend, here are some practical considerations and options:

  • Street parking: Limited metered and residential spots are available near Jones Street. Be aware of street cleaning schedules and residential permit restrictions. You might need to circle a few times to find an open space.
  • Paid parking lots/garages: There are several public parking lots near Forsyth Park and the Historic District that allow for weekend parking. Rates vary, but paying for a secure lot ensures you won’t have to move your car each day.
  • Hotel or Airbnb options: Check if the Airbnb listing provides a dedicated parking space. Some properties in the Historic District offer private parking, which is highly recommended during high-traffic weekends.
  • Ride-sharing: Given the congestion, some visitors choose to park farther away from the festivities and use Uber, Lyft, or scooters to get around. This can be more convenient than hunting for parking daily.

Overall, while it’s possible to find parking on Jones Street, it’s not guaranteed during St. Patrick’s Weekend. If you want to secure a hassle-free spot, consider reserving a nearby paid lot or confirming a private space with your Airbnb host. This will give you peace of mind and allow you to enjoy the weekend without worrying about your car.

  • Arrive early on Friday to maximize your chances of finding street parking.
  • Use parking apps or maps to identify available lots or garages in advance.
  • Consider booking a lot or valet service if your Airbnb or nearby facilities offer it.

In short, parking is one of the trickiest parts of St. Patrick’s Weekend in Savannah, so planning ahead is key if you want to leave your car and explore the city worry-free.
