Luau shows in Maui
Have been several times to the Old Lahaina Luau show and wanted to take the 6 of us this year but the prices per adults have gone up to $260/person.!! Doubled basically. Is there a luau show on the island that might be cheaper? Maybe at their cultural center or elsewhere?
Yes, the prices for luaus on Maui have definitely increased in recent years, but there are still several other luau options on the island that are worth considering if you're looking for something more affordable. Here are some alternatives to the Old Lahaina Luau:
- Feast at Lele (Lahaina) – This is another popular luau option in Lahaina that is generally priced similarly to Old Lahaina but offers a more intimate and upscale experience. The Feast at Lele features table service (as opposed to buffet-style) and a multi-course meal paired with drinks. It’s often considered a bit more refined but can be more affordable if you find discounts or specials.
- Luau at the Marriott (Wailea) – The Wailea Beach Resort's luau is another popular option with a mix of Polynesian performances and traditional food. While it is typically slightly cheaper than Old Lahaina, it offers a similar cultural experience with music and hula dancing. Prices tend to vary depending on the season, so you may want to check for any specials.
- Drums of the Pacific Luau (Lahaina) – Located at the Hyatt Regency in Lahaina, this luau is known for its vibrant drumming performances and spectacular fire knife dancing. While it tends to be a bit more affordable than Old Lahaina Luau, it still provides a fantastic cultural experience with food and entertainment.
- The Luau at The Grand Wailea (Wailea) – This luau offers a traditional Hawaiian experience with cultural performances, food, and entertainment. It's often considered more family-friendly and priced slightly lower than some of the more premium luaus.
- The Polynesian Cultural Center Luau (Kahului) – While not strictly a Maui luau (it’s located in Kahului), this is a large cultural center that offers a more extensive experience, including educational displays and entertainment from multiple Polynesian islands. While the prices can vary, it often offers discounts for families and larger groups.
In addition to these, you may want to consider looking for discounted tickets through local travel companies or booking platforms. Some companies offer package deals that bundle activities like luaus, tours, and other attractions at a reduced cost. Also, checking for promotions during the off-peak seasons can sometimes offer lower rates.
While these alternatives may not be as traditional as the Old Lahaina Luau, they still offer a great experience, especially for families looking for an affordable, yet enjoyable evening of Hawaiian culture.
