Good restaurants near Georgia Tech

Hello, can I get some good recommendations for good dinner spots within a 20 minute or so walk of Georgia Tech? I will be visiting next week for work. My meal allowance will be $36USD before tax and tip (I'll be drinking water to make the most out of the allowance).

The two places I've found so far:

South City Kitchen Midtown

Antico's Pizza (will be on the lower-end, but from what I have heard, they make an amazing Italian-style pizza).

I haven't been able to find much else that's highly rated and will allow for a great meal below $36 before tax/tip. A bunch of restaurants are above my price range, and most of the rest seem to be student-food.

Thank you!

It's great that you're exploring dining options near Georgia Tech! There are several great places within walking distance that fit your budget, offering a mix of flavors and ambiance. Since you're working with a $36 meal allowance (before tax and tip), here are some excellent dinner spots that should provide a great meal without breaking the bank:

1. South City Kitchen Midtown – You've already found this one, and it’s a great choice! South City Kitchen offers Southern-inspired dishes in a casual yet elegant setting. While some items may go over your allowance, their portions are generous, and you can definitely find options under $36, especially if you go for smaller plates or share. Their fried chicken or shrimp and grits are favorites, and they offer a great atmosphere for a work dinner.

2. Antico Pizza – Another solid option you’ve identified! If you're in the mood for a more casual meal, Antico’s Italian-style pizza is highly praised. It’s known for its delicious, authentic pizzas, and you’ll easily find a great pie within your price range. The pizzas are large, so you may even be able to take leftovers back if you're full! This is definitely a great lower-priced option, especially for pizza lovers.

Here are some additional recommendations that should fit your budget and offer great food:

  • The Rotisserie Shop – This is a fantastic spot for rotisserie chicken and comfort food. They offer a variety of chicken dishes, along with sides like mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and mac and cheese. The portions are generous, and it’s very reasonably priced, so you’ll likely stay well within your $36 limit. It’s a local favorite for quick, tasty meals.
  • Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q – If you’re in the mood for barbecue, Fox Bros. is a great spot. Located not too far from Georgia Tech, they serve up delicious smoked meats and Southern sides. Their brisket or pulled pork sandwiches are filling and affordable, and you can enjoy a hearty meal without going over your budget. If you’re looking for something more casual and filling, this is a great choice.
  • The Vortex Bar & Grill – This iconic Atlanta spot is known for its burgers and casual, fun atmosphere. You can get a filling and satisfying meal without breaking your budget. Their burgers are large, and you can customize them with various toppings. They also have a wide range of sides and appetizers, so it's easy to stick within your price range and have a great meal.
  • Ecco – If you're willing to stretch a bit, Ecco offers Mediterranean-inspired cuisine in a stylish setting. They have a range of pasta, small plates, and seafood options. Their menu has items that should fit within your budget, especially if you stick to pasta or smaller dishes. It's a bit more upscale, but the prices are still manageable.
  • Pasta Da Pulcinella – If you’re craving Italian, this is another fantastic choice in the area. Pasta Da Pulcinella offers delicious pasta dishes and pizzas, all made with fresh ingredients. Their prices are very reasonable, and you can easily get a satisfying meal within your budget. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, so it may be less crowded compared to other spots.

All of these spots offer great food options at different price points, and they are all within walking distance of Georgia Tech. If you’re in the mood for something more casual, Antico Pizza or The Rotisserie Shop will keep you within budget, while places like South City Kitchen and Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q offer a bit more variety and a full experience. Whatever you choose, you’ll be able to enjoy a delicious meal without exceeding your meal allowance!
