Breakfast is always an issue.

I always have an issue with Breakfast when coming to Mackinaw City. The hotel I stay at does not serve it, so I am always looking for bacon, eggs, and toast. Are there any places close that serve a normal breakfast for a reasonable price? $20 pp is a bit steep. and the Coffee is rarely good. Are there any new truckstops or breakast only places?

Finding a solid, reasonably priced breakfast in Mackinaw City can be a bit of a challenge, especially if your hotel doesn’t serve it. Luckily, there are a few local diners and casual spots where you can get classic bacon, eggs, and toast without paying overly high prices.

Recommended Breakfast Spots:

  • Harbor View Restaurant: A local favorite for traditional breakfast fare. They serve hearty portions of eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, and hashbrowns at reasonable prices. Coffee is generally decent.
  • Pancake Chef: Known for pancakes, but also serves standard breakfast plates including bacon, eggs, and toast. Prices are fair and portions are generous.
  • Goodfellow’s Restaurant: Offers classic diner breakfast with a variety of egg, meat, and toast combinations. Coffee tends to be reliable and they focus on a casual, homey experience.
  • Mackinaw Coffee Company & Deli: While more of a café, they serve breakfast sandwiches and plates with eggs, bacon or sausage, and toast at a good price. Coffee quality is generally above average.

Tips:

  • Weekends can get busy, so try to arrive early (7:30–8:00 am) to avoid waiting.
  • Check current menus online or call ahead, as some breakfast-only or diner-style spots may adjust hours seasonally.
  • If you’re okay with takeout, some of these places offer quick breakfast options that can be enjoyed back at your hotel or on the road.

Overall, Mackinaw City has enough local diners and breakfast spots that you can enjoy a standard breakfast plate for under $20 per person without compromising on quality or portion size. Exploring a couple of these local favorites is usually the best way to start your day before heading out for sightseeing or travel.
