Is there anywhere in Portland than I could get a really good lobster roll and they would pack it on ice to take on a 2-1/2 hour plane ride? Hoping to take one home to my son. Thanks for any advice!
It’s a great idea to bring home a lobster roll for your son! Portland is known for its excellent lobster rolls, and while it might be tricky to find a place that will pack one specifically for a flight, there are a few options you can explore:
1) Eventide Oyster Co.
Eventide is one of Portland’s most popular spots for lobster rolls, and they are known for their delicious, fresh lobster served on a steamed bun. They have a great reputation for quality, and although they don’t typically pack rolls for flights, they might be willing to help you out. It’s a good idea to call ahead and ask if they can pack a lobster roll with ice or cooling materials for travel. Even if they can’t, they might offer advice on how to transport it safely.
2) The Lobster Shack at Two Lights
If you're willing to make a bit of a drive, The Lobster Shack at Two Lights is another excellent place to get a lobster roll. Known for its scenic views and fantastic lobster, they may be able to wrap up a lobster roll for you to take with you. Again, calling ahead is a good idea to make sure they can accommodate your request.
3) Portland Lobster Co.
Another well-known option, Portland Lobster Co. is famous for its lobster rolls and has a casual, waterfront atmosphere. They offer great lobster rolls, and while they typically serve them fresh for dining, you could inquire if they can pack one for you with ice for the plane. It might not be a typical request, but they might be able to assist you in packing it carefully for transport.
4) Browne Trading Co.
Browne Trading Co. is a seafood market that specializes in high-quality Maine lobster, and they are likely your best bet for getting a lobster roll packed with ice for transport. They sell fresh lobster and other Maine seafood, and if you call ahead, they may be able to prepare a lobster roll for you to take home. If you're looking for a more reliable packing option, this could be the way to go.
