Shopping in Phoenix/Scottsdale

I have almost one whole day to shopping while in Scottsdale. I'm not interested in mall shopping but unique home and clothing boutiques. I live in California so have access to all the chain stores so that doesn't interest me.

Any recommendations or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you are looking to avoid the typical mall experience and focus on unique home and clothing boutiques in Scottsdale, you’ll find plenty of options that showcase local designers, artisanal goods, and one-of-a-kind items.

1) Old Town Scottsdale:

Old Town Scottsdale is the heart of boutique shopping. It offers a mix of high-end fashion, local designer shops, and unique home décor stores in a walkable, charming area. You’ll find plenty of galleries and specialty shops along Main Street and its surrounding streets.

  • Scottsdale Fashion Square has luxury boutiques but stick to the independent shops around the perimeter streets for more unique finds.
  • Pandora Boutique and other local clothing boutiques offer carefully curated fashion pieces.
  • Local home décor and gift stores like Curated Home, The White Feather, and Adobe Home & Garden are worth visiting.

2) Kierland Commons & Scottsdale Quarter:

While these areas are more upscale shopping centers, they feature a good mix of independent boutiques, artisan shops, and specialty stores that are less typical than mall chains.

  • Kierland Commons: high-end boutiques, unique fashion, jewelry, and local designer goods.
  • Scottsdale Quarter: offers smaller local retailers, as well as boutique home décor stores.

3) Local Art & Craft Markets:

For truly unique items, check out local art and craft markets, which often feature home décor, jewelry, and handmade clothing:

  • Scottsdale Artists’ Market (check dates as it can be seasonal)
  • ArtWalk in Old Town Scottsdale (usually Thursday evenings) – galleries and artisan shops offer a mix of shopping and art exploration.

4) Specialty Boutiques & Hidden Gems:

  • Shop Good for sustainable and locally made fashion and accessories.
  • Ginger Jar – upscale home décor with unique Arizona-inspired items.
  • Scottsdale Home & Garden boutique stores – curated pieces for unique interior décor.

Plan your day by starting in Old Town, walking the streets and alleyways, then drive over to Kierland Commons/Scottsdale Quarter if you have extra time. Parking is easier in Kierland/Scottsdale Quarter, but Old Town has plenty of public lots within walking distance.

Overall, focusing on Old Town Scottsdale gives you the best concentration of unique boutiques and galleries, while the Kierland/Quarter areas are great for combining shopping with dining in a pleasant outdoor environment.
