Today, I check out of my first night’s stay in the Armstrong Hotel, where my wife and I saw our 4th Michael Martin Murphy concert. I will start with my 4/5 rating for this very basic and inexpensive ($145) room with king bed, TV, coffee but no table or chairs. You sat on the bed or floor. Night’s sleep was quiet and comfortable, with a window but no view, instead a brick wall 4 ft away. Biggest thing was the confusing shower with no directions. A lever above the faucet we thought sent water to one of the 2 shower heads, but no. After 30 minutes, my wife discovered a ring at the bottom of the faucet that, when turned, sent the water to shower head. Good thing there were handles on the wall, because the floor was very slippery. I like a hot shower, and the water got very hot.
That was the room. The hotel itself is quaint, with a great lobby with couches, etc. and squarely in the Olde Town section of this college town (CO State University). Lots of bars, restaurants, next to an Ace Hardware and 4 blocks from the Lincoln Center. After our Sunday nite concert, we went to a bar open until 2am. If you stay here, make sure to check out their web site and see the rooms in advance. If I were here for several days on business, this room would not be adequate.
This is my review, I won’t say more. Good luck, I am interested in what other patrons think. Thank you.
