Arizona and Easter religious holiday days
Hi All
I am visiting from the UK next April and am trying to find information re if any of the places I am coming to may have some closures to shops/attractions on the Easter holidays
I know it may be too soon to tell but in the UK we close many things across these dates so wondered if these places may be the same -
on Easter Sunday ( 20th April ) , Easter Monday (21st April ) & Good friday ( 18th April ) would this affect my visits to any of the below which I may visit across some of these dates -
Tombstone
Bisbee
Sedona
Or do shops/restaurants / attractions remain mostly unaltered by these holidays ?
Thank you
Sara
In the United States, Easter holidays are generally not public holidays in the same way as in the UK, and most shops, restaurants, and attractions remain open. However, certain businesses and offices may adjust hours, especially on Easter Sunday. Here’s a breakdown for the locations you mentioned:
Tombstone:
- Tombstone is a tourist-focused town, so most attractions, including the O.K. Corral, historic tours, and shops, usually remain open on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday.
- Some smaller, locally-owned shops or restaurants may close or have reduced hours on Easter Sunday, so it’s good to check specific places if there are must-visit spots.
Bisbee:
- Bisbee is known for its artsy vibe and small local businesses. Most galleries, cafes, and restaurants remain open, but a few may close on Easter Sunday.
- Good Friday and Easter Monday are generally normal operating days.
Sedona:
- Sedona is a major tourist destination, and shops, restaurants, and attractions typically stay open throughout the Easter weekend.
- Hiking trails, parks, and scenic drives are always open, as they are public spaces.
- Some smaller or independently-owned shops may adjust hours on Easter Sunday, but this is the exception rather than the rule.
General tips for visiting Arizona over Easter weekend:
- Major national parks, state parks, and public hiking areas remain open every day, including Easter Sunday and Monday.
- Chain restaurants, hotels, and most attractions in tourist towns operate as usual.
- If you have specific restaurants or tours in mind, it’s wise to check their websites or call ahead to confirm hours for Easter Sunday.
- Traffic may be slightly busier on Easter Sunday, as locals and visitors may go on short trips, especially to scenic areas like Sedona.
In summary, for Tombstone, Bisbee, and Sedona, most tourist-oriented businesses and attractions remain open during Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday. Only some smaller or independently-owned shops might close or reduce hours on Easter Sunday, so planning ahead for meals or specific activities is recommended.
