Sedona Pines resort vs Hilton Vacation Club Sedona Summit

Hi all! Which one would you choose? We are coming for some relaxation and mounting biking. We’ll have a car. Which resort is better?

Sedona pines is about $200 cheaper overall, just wondering if Hilton Vacation Club is worth the extra!

Also, any suggestions on a 4-6 hour hike for two fit people with a view?

And which area to try mountain biking for a novice (been riding for about 3 years). Can do blue runs in North Vancouver BC!

Thank you!

Both Sedona Pines Resort and Hilton Vacation Club Sedona Summit are solid options depending on your priorities. Since you mentioned relaxation and mountain biking, here’s a detailed comparison:

Sedona Pines Resort:

  • More budget-friendly, about $200 cheaper overall.
  • Located in a quieter part of Sedona, good for a relaxing stay.
  • Self-contained units with kitchens, great if you prefer to cook some meals.
  • Access to hiking and mountain biking is decent, but some trails may require driving to trailheads.

Hilton Vacation Club Sedona Summit:

  • Higher-end accommodations, slightly newer or upgraded units.
  • Resort amenities such as pools, fitness center, and on-site activities are more comprehensive.
  • Close to hiking and biking trailheads, with scenic views from the property.
  • May offer better service and comfort, worth the extra cost if you value convenience and amenities.

Given that you’ll have a car, both properties are accessible to mountain biking and hiking areas. If your main goal is relaxation with decent comfort and slightly more amenities, the Hilton might be worth the extra. If you are budget-conscious and mainly plan to be out exploring, Sedona Pines is a fine choice.

Hiking suggestions (4-6 hours, fit for two people):

  • Boynton Canyon Trail – about 6 miles round-trip, excellent views, some moderate climbing.
  • Bear Mountain Trail – challenging but offers panoramic views; plan 4-5 hours.
  • Doe Mountain Trail – shorter than 4 hours but very rewarding views; could combine with other nearby trails.
  • West Fork Trail – longer, mostly shaded, moderate; great for scenery and a comfortable pace.

Mountain biking for a novice:

  • Bell Rock Pathway – easy and scenic, suitable for beginners or blue-level riders.
  • Soldier Pass Trail – moderate, good exposure to Sedona red rock formations.
  • Chuckwagon Trail – beginner-friendly loops with gentle climbs, ideal for improving skills.
  • Midgley Bridge / Long Canyon area – several blue runs that are fun and safe for novice riders.

Overall, if comfort and resort amenities matter more, go with the Hilton. If budget and basic comfort are enough, Sedona Pines is fine. With your car, access to hiking and biking won’t be a limitation either way.
