Jeep tour not too intense

A few years ago we did the San Andreas Fault jeep tour at Palm Springs with red jeep tours and it was really fun. We want a similar tour in Sedona that is on dirt road and sometimes bumpy but not too intense. I was reading that Broken Arrow with pink jeep tours has the best views but it can be intense at times. We can make it a private tour and ask them to take it easy and maybe skip some parts. Will this be a good option or is it still inherently intense? What other option would you recommend?

In Sedona, Pink Jeep Tours are the most well-known operators for off-road adventures. The Broken Arrow tour is famous for its stunning views of red rock formations, but it does include some steep climbs, sharp turns, and rugged sections that can be jarring, especially if you’re looking for a gentler ride. Even with a private tour, the route itself has inherently intense sections, though a skilled driver can moderate the speed and perhaps skip the roughest parts.

If your goal is a dirt road adventure that is bumpy but not overly intense, there are a few considerations and alternatives:

  • Private Broken Arrow Tour: Asking for a private vehicle and letting the driver know you want a smoother experience can help. The driver can take it slower, avoid aggressive maneuvers, and focus on scenic viewpoints rather than technical obstacles.
  • Diamondback Gulch: Another Pink Jeep Tour option, slightly less intense than Broken Arrow, with dramatic scenery but fewer extreme obstacles. A private tour can also be requested here.
  • Scenic Rim Tour: Designed to emphasize views over adrenaline, with some off-road bumps but overall a more relaxed pace. Perfect for first-time visitors who want to enjoy the scenery without the thrills.

Other companies besides Pink Jeep also offer milder off-road experiences:

  • Red Rock Western Jeep Tours: Offers smaller, less intense tours with knowledgeable guides who can tailor the route for comfort.
  • All-Terrain Jeep Rentals: Some operators allow you to rent a Jeep and follow a recommended scenic route on dirt roads, letting you control the pace entirely while still enjoying mild off-road terrain.

Tips for a gentler Jeep tour experience:

  • Book a private tour so the driver can adjust the route and speed.
  • Clearly communicate your comfort level regarding bumps and steep inclines.
  • Consider early morning tours to avoid crowds, which may also allow the driver to take a more relaxed pace.
  • Bring motion sickness remedies if you’re sensitive, as even mild bumpy roads can cause discomfort.

In summary, a Broken Arrow private tour can work if you explicitly request a gentler approach, but if you want to minimize intensity, the Scenic Rim or Diamondback Gulch tours—or non-Pink Jeep operators—may provide a smoother yet still scenic Sedona off-road experience.
