Intercontinental or Bourbon Orleans ?

Headed there the week after Super Bowl and right before Mardi Gras gets into high gear. Looking at intercontinental in cbd or Bourbon orleans in the middle of the action. We are aware of the differences in the locations and neither are an issue. Our main concern is safety, as we’ll be walking almost everywhere. Looking for opinions on both safety as well as quality of accommodations.
