Riverside Hotel

IIs the Riverside Hotel a decent budget hotel to stay in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Do they have construction going on at this time.? Is there any other budget hotel reservations in the Las Olas area that you would recommend?

Good question. The Riverside Hotel in Fort Lauderdale is *not* really a “budget” hotel—it’s historic, upscale, and quite centrally located on Las Olas Boulevard. According to its own materials, it has 221 rooms, a rooftop terrace, a pool overlooking the New River, and fairly elegant amenities.

Here are some pros and things to consider about staying at Riverside:

  • Location: Excellent — right on Las Olas, which means walkable access to shopping, restaurants, galleries, and nightlife.
  • Historic character: The hotel dates back to the 1920s and has been renovated; it’s more boutique and charming than plain/motel-like.
  • Price point: Because of its prime location and full amenities, it’s likely going to cost more than most “budget” hotels. Definitely check current rates — they may vary depending on demand.
  • Construction: I didn’t find any credible recent reports or notices from the hotel or city indicating active construction at the Riverside Hotel. Nothing in public planning or hotel documents suggests major work right now. (No construction warnings in recent materials.)

If Riverside is above your preferred price range, here are some more affordable hotels in or near the Las Olas / downtown area that might work well:

  • Fairfield Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Downtown / Las Olas: A Marriott-brand option that’s reasonably priced, clean, and centrally located.
  • Tru by Hilton Fort Lauderdale Downtown: Very budget-friendly with good reviews.
  • Tropical Oasis Studio (near Las Olas): For a more “motel / apartment-style” stay, there are budget studio options in the Las Olas area.
