Extra Parking near Ocean Breeze W/Perdido Key
After we booked a 3 BR condo for my husband, myself and daughter/her husband in order to attend our son's wedding in the Perdido area in April, we are told that only ONE car is permitted on property. I fully understand limited parking (I live in a condo.) I don't understand 1) not telling renters that ahead of time and 2) providing a reasonable option (other than a storage unit several miles down the road at $45/week--and we only need it for 3 days). I'd appreciate any suggestions for permissible parking in the Ocean Breeze West area. I see on Google Maps there are some restaurants, a beach access, and some other commercial buildings. Also, it seems, a lot of empty land. All suggestions appreciated. Many thanks! ~Linn
Perdido Key, particularly the Ocean Breeze West area, has limited parking for condo complexes, and it is not uncommon for some rentals to allow only one vehicle per unit. This can be frustrating, especially for short stays with multiple vehicles. Since your stay is only for a few days, there are a few strategies you can consider for additional parking.
Potential options for extra parking in the Ocean Breeze West area include:
- Nearby commercial lots: Some nearby restaurants, small businesses, or beach access points may offer limited paid parking. Contacting them in advance to see if they allow temporary parking for a fee could be helpful.
- Public beach access parking: Certain public beach access areas along Perdido Key Road may have small parking lots. While these are intended for beachgoers, for short durations and with proper communication, they may be usable.
- Local short-term storage or parking facilities: Although you mentioned a storage unit several miles away, checking with other storage or mini-parking facilities in the area could yield closer options or lower rates.
- Neighboring condos or vacation rentals: Some nearby condo complexes may have guest parking or overflow lots. Polite inquiry or asking the property management about reciprocal arrangements might help.
Additional tips to consider:
- Contact the property management or HOA directly; occasionally they can grant temporary exceptions or suggest approved parking areas nearby.
- Use ride-sharing (Uber, Lyft) for one vehicle if parking cannot be secured for both cars; this can save time and frustration during a short stay.
- Plan your schedule to minimize needing both vehicles at the same time, such as carpooling to events like the wedding.
- Ensure any off-site parking you use is legal and permissible to avoid fines or towing.
While the one-car limit is inconvenient, a combination of contacting local businesses, checking public lots, and coordinating vehicle use should help manage parking for your short stay in the Ocean Breeze West area.
