Resort change HELP!
Having big regrets with our booking for Oceans Edge Resort. This is the first time we’re coming with our 8 year old. The reviews are not in its favor.. and I know everyone has preferences and not to take them to heart I would like to see my option, I am able to switch hotels. Kid friendly a must, restaurant on site/bar, and a great pool! Doesn’t need to be on key west as we have stayed on stock island before and don’t mind the shuttles. Btw HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Happy New Year! If you’re having second thoughts about Oceans Edge Resort for your Key West trip with your 8-year-old, there are definitely alternatives that are more kid-friendly, have great pools, and offer on-site dining and bars. Key West and the surrounding areas have several resorts that cater well to families and make it easy to enjoy the island without being restricted to downtown Key West.
Here are some options you might consider:
- Havana Cabana at Key West: Family-friendly resort with colorful décor, a pool, on-site restaurant and bar. Located a short drive from downtown Key West with easy shuttle or taxi access.
- Sunset Key Cottages (near Key West): High-end resort with kid-friendly amenities, private beach, pool, and restaurants on-site. Shuttle service is available from Key West.
- Casa Marina Key West, A Waldorf Astoria Resort: Oceanfront property with large pools, private beach area, and multiple dining options. They are very accommodating for families.
- The Reach Key West, Curio Collection: Offers a pool, beach access, on-site dining, and family-friendly accommodations.
- Parrot Key Hotel & Resort (on Stock Island): A popular choice for families, featuring multiple pools, on-site restaurants, and shuttle service to downtown Key West. Stock Island is convenient and often quieter than downtown Key West.
Additional tips for booking:
- Check if the resort offers specific kid-friendly programs or activities; some have supervised kids’ clubs or fun activities for younger guests.
- Consider resort fees and shuttle availability; some hotels on Stock Island or slightly outside Key West offer shuttles into downtown for sightseeing.
- Look for rooms or suites that provide enough space for families, especially if your child prefers a separate sleeping area.
In summary, if your priority is a kid-friendly environment, a good pool, and on-site dining, Parrot Key Resort or Casa Marina are excellent choices. Stock Island options like Parrot Key offer convenience and space while still being close enough for easy access to Key West attractions.
