Restaurant Recommendations
Hi guys.
My family (wife, two kids aged 7 & 9) and I will be staying in Miami for a few nights in mid February. While we are there we will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary!
We are staying in the Local House Hotel on Ocean Drive. Would you kind folks have any tips on where we could go for a nice meal to celebrate? We don't want anything too expensive, and we are not limited to staying in the Ocean Drive area. Ideally somewhere we could have a few pre dinner cocktails followed by a nice meal.
Gracias.
Miami offers a wide range of family-friendly yet special restaurants perfect for celebrating a wedding anniversary without going overboard on cost. Since you’re staying on Ocean Drive, you’ll have easy access to both South Beach dining and nearby neighborhoods for a more relaxed vibe.
Here are some recommended options that balance quality, ambiance, and a family-friendly atmosphere:
- Big Pink – Located in South Beach, this diner-style restaurant offers large portions and a diverse menu suitable for kids and adults. The atmosphere is casual but fun, and it’s great for a laid-back celebratory meal.
- Yardbird Southern Table & Bar – Known for its Southern comfort food and fried chicken, Yardbird also offers a nice cocktail menu for adults. The vibe is lively yet comfortable for kids.
- Juvia – If you want something more upscale but still approachable, Juvia has rooftop views, a fusion menu, and creative cocktails. They are used to accommodating families with children earlier in the evening.
If you’re willing to venture slightly outside of Ocean Drive:
- Seaspice – Located along the Miami River, Seaspice has waterfront dining, excellent seafood, and a stylish but not overly formal environment. They have a great selection of pre-dinner cocktails and a menu that can satisfy both adults and kids.
- Glass & Vine – Situated in Coconut Grove, it offers a relaxed garden setting with fresh, seasonal dishes and a good cocktail list. This spot is very family-friendly and perfect for a celebratory dinner.
- La Mar by Gastón Acurio – For a Peruvian twist, La Mar in Brickell Key provides flavorful dishes and a beautiful riverside setting. They also offer creative cocktails for adults.
Tips for your celebration:
- Consider making reservations well in advance, especially for rooftop or waterfront venues in February, as Miami gets busy around this time.
- Arrive slightly earlier if you want pre-dinner cocktails with a view, as popular spots can fill up quickly.
- If the kids might get restless during a long dinner, check if the restaurant can accommodate a high chair or have quick small plates available.
With these options, you can enjoy a memorable anniversary meal while keeping the evening comfortable and family-friendly.
