Vdara 2BR penthouse vs Aria 2BR sky suite

Hi,

I’ll be visiting Vegas for 5 nights as a group of 4 in April for my wife’s birthday surprise. Main stipulation for the stay is we need a 2 bed suite so we can all stay together (don’t want to risk connectors as not guaranteed). We also want to make sure the hotel has the ‘wow’ factor as this will be her first time in Vegas. We’ll be doing some shows, meals out and some time in the casino so happy to be immersed in the full vegas experience but equally happy with a bit more peace and quiet!

I currently have a 2 bed penthouse reservation at Vdara but questioning if this will fit the bill. The alternative would be a 2 bed sky suite at Aria either standard Mountain View sky suite or penthouse 2 bed strip view. Price difference between Vdara and Aria is $3,000 to $4,000 depending on the room so quite a price jump but ok with that if really worth it!

Keen for thoughts please on the best option between the two and if the sky suites are really worth the extra cost?

Thanks!

Both the Vdara 2BR Penthouse and the Aria 2BR Sky Suite are exceptional options for a luxurious stay in Las Vegas, and either one would provide a fantastic experience. Given that you’re looking for a “wow” factor for your wife’s first time in Vegas and considering your group’s preferences for both excitement and some quiet relaxation, here’s a detailed breakdown to help you choose:

Vdara 2BR Penthouse:

  • Location and Atmosphere: Vdara is a non-gaming hotel, which means it’s quieter compared to the larger resorts on the Strip. This makes it an excellent choice if you’re seeking a bit more peace and tranquility while still being close to the action. It’s located right next to Aria, and connected to the Bellagio and the Cosmopolitan by the CityCenter complex, so you're still in the heart of the action without the noise and crowds of a full-scale casino hotel.
  • Suites and Design: The 2BR Penthouse at Vdara is spacious, modern, and stylish. It offers a high level of privacy, especially important for a group traveling together. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer some nice views of the surrounding area, but they're not as iconic as what you'll get at Aria. The design is sleek and contemporary, with luxurious amenities and features. It’s a great place to unwind after a day out in Vegas.
  • Quiet, Relaxed Experience: Vdara’s non-casino environment contributes to a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere, which could be ideal for some downtime during your stay. It also has a great rooftop pool with beautiful views of the Strip and surrounding mountains. This could be a perfect space to hang out when you want to escape the crowds.
  • Price: The price for the 2BR Penthouse at Vdara is typically lower than the Sky Suite options at Aria, which could make it a more budget-friendly choice while still offering a luxurious experience.

Aria 2BR Sky Suite:

  • Location and Atmosphere: Aria is located at the center of the action in the CityCenter complex, so it offers the full Vegas experience with a casino, restaurants, and entertainment right at your doorstep. If you want to be immersed in the vibrant Las Vegas atmosphere, Aria is a great choice. However, it can be busy and louder compared to Vdara, especially in the evenings and weekends.
  • Suites and Design: The 2BR Sky Suite at Aria is absolutely stunning and designed with an impressive level of luxury. The suite is spacious, with high-end finishes and modern décor. If you go for the Penthouse 2BR Strip View, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the Strip, which would definitely provide the “wow” factor that you’re looking for. Aria’s suites also come with fantastic technology, such as automated lighting, temperature controls, and entertainment systems.
  • Luxury Experience: The Sky Suites at Aria are known for offering the ultimate in luxury. You’ll get private check-in, access to the Sky Suites lounge, and personalized service that’s top-notch. The Sky Suites also provide a higher level of exclusivity compared to other rooms at Aria, making it a great option for a special occasion like your wife’s birthday.
  • Full Vegas Experience: If you want to experience the full Vegas excitement with easy access to the casino, restaurants, and shows, Aria is the place to be. You’ll also be located near some of the best nightlife and entertainment options on the Strip.
  • Price: The Sky Suites are more expensive, and the price difference you mentioned ($3,000 to $4,000) is definitely something to consider. The extra cost reflects the elevated luxury and experience at Aria, but it’s a significant jump. If the “wow” factor and Strip views are important to you, it could be worth the splurge.

Recommendation:

If you’re looking for the quieter, more relaxed experience while still being close to the action, Vdara could be the best option. It offers a modern and luxurious stay without the hustle and bustle of a casino hotel. However, if you want to be in the heart of the action with a more immersive Vegas experience, and are willing to pay for it, then the Aria 2BR Sky Suite would be a spectacular choice. The Strip views and luxury service would give you that added excitement and exclusivity that could make this a truly memorable birthday surprise.

Ultimately, it depends on whether you value a more peaceful, tranquil retreat with a modern luxury feel (Vdara) or the full-on luxury and spectacle of the Vegas Strip with unparalleled views and top-tier service (Aria). Both will offer an amazing experience, so either way, you’re in for a treat!
