Hot Springs with area for Baby

Hi there, we are 4 adults and an 8 months old planning a visit in March. We would like to make a short visit to a hot spring if possible but would like to keep the baby indoors with one of the adults while the other 3 adults enjoy the springs. Do you have any recommendations for some springs where there is also a nice cafe or indoor area for the baby and adult to wait it out? I can see there are a couple at least within a shortish drive (Mount Princeton being one) but wondering which would be the best for our group in this situation. Thanks

Visiting a hot spring near Breckenridge with an 8-month-old requires a bit of planning, since most natural hot springs are outdoors. However, there are a few options within reasonable driving distance that offer indoor facilities or areas where an adult and baby can stay warm while the others enjoy soaking in the pools.

Recommended Hot Springs:

  • Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort: About 1.5–2 hours from Breckenridge, this resort has a large outdoor pool area as well as an indoor pool. The indoor area includes a lobby and cafe where an adult can relax with a baby while others enjoy the hotter outdoor pools. It’s very family-friendly and well-staffed.
  • Strawberry Park Hot Springs (Steamboat Springs area): Approximately 3 hours from Breckenridge, mostly outdoor, but the resort has cabins and heated indoor spaces where one adult can stay with a baby. Note: March may still be cold, so plan for quick transitions from warm indoors to the pools.
  • Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa: About 2.5 hours from Breckenridge, the resort has multiple pools with varying temperatures and a main indoor lobby area with seating and restrooms. It’s a convenient spot to rotate adults in and out while the baby stays warm indoors.

Tips for Visiting with a Baby:

  • Bring a stroller or carrier that is easy to manage in snow/mud, as March can still be wintry in Colorado.
  • Check the resort’s policies on infants; most allow babies in indoor spaces but not in hot tubs.
  • Plan shorter soaking sessions (30–45 minutes) since outdoor temperatures can be chilly for non-swimmers.
  • Dress the baby warmly and have blankets and indoor toys or snacks to keep them comfortable while an adult supervises.

Of these options, Mount Princeton Hot Springs is likely the best fit for your group, given its combination of indoor facilities, cafe, and family-friendly atmosphere, allowing one adult to comfortably stay indoors with the baby while the others enjoy the springs.
