Traveller Check Your Flights
Friday
We advise all travelers to check their flight status and also the condition of the roads .
There are multiple areas with downed trees, undermined roads, flooded roads and power outages. Over 3,000 Maui Electric customers did not have power yesterday. The power outage map was not even kept up to date with closures as there were so many areas affected.
Allow extra time to get to the Kahului airport, but check the status of your flight first and driving route first.

It sounds like the weather and power issues are making travel in Maui a bit tricky at the moment. Given the challenges you're facing with downed trees, flooded roads, and power outages, it’s really important to stay up to date on both flight statuses and local road conditions before heading out to Kahului Airport (OGG). Here are a few tips to help ensure a smooth travel experience during these uncertain conditions:
- Check Flight Status First: Before heading to the airport, verify the status of your flight with the airline. Flight schedules can change due to weather disruptions or other issues, so it's essential to know if your flight is on time, delayed, or canceled. This can help you avoid unnecessary rush or long waits at the airport.
- Road Conditions and Closures: Due to flooding, fallen trees, and potential road damage, take extra precautions when driving. Make sure to check real-time traffic apps, local government sites, or news sources for updates on road closures, detours, or conditions. Maui’s roads can be unpredictable, especially during adverse weather.
- Allow Extra Time for Travel: Because of the potential delays caused by road closures and weather conditions, make sure to allow plenty of time to get to the airport. Even if you think your route is clear, unforeseen issues can pop up, so arriving earlier than usual is a good idea.
- Power Outages: Power outages may still be affecting certain areas, so make sure to check the status of utilities or contact your accommodations to confirm the power situation. If your accommodations are affected, reach out to your hotel or rental property to see what accommodations are being made for guests.
- Practice Aloha: With all these challenges, it’s important to stay patient and flexible. Embrace the spirit of aloha — kindness, patience, and understanding — as you work through any travel disruptions.
In summary, keeping a close eye on both your flight status and local conditions will help you manage the challenges posed by the current situation. Make sure to plan ahead and give yourself extra time to get to the airport, and don’t forget to stay patient and positive despite the inconveniences. Safe travels!
