MK first?

Hi there

We’re heading to Disney March 31-3rd April and trying to get my head around LL/ early rope drop etc as I assume it is very busy with spring breakers. I was planning on starting with MK on Monday, but is it better to start with one of the other parks? I read somewhere Monday’s are extremely busy in MK.

Thank you!

Visiting Magic Kingdom (MK) during the end of March and early April coincides with the height of spring break crowds, so it’s important to plan carefully. Mondays at MK are traditionally among the busiest days of the week because locals and out-of-town guests often start their week there. With spring breakers in town, the park will be crowded, and popular rides may have longer wait times.

Here are some considerations to help decide which park to start with:

  • Magic Kingdom: If MK is your top priority, starting here is fine, but arrive early for rope drop. Getting there 30-60 minutes before official opening can give you a head start on the most popular attractions before the crowd builds.
  • EPCOT: Often slightly less crowded on weekdays compared to MK. If you start here on Monday, you may enjoy shorter waits for popular rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or Frozen Ever After.
  • Hollywood Studios: Can be very busy with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land, but if you can secure Lightning Lane selections, it can still be manageable.
  • Animal Kingdom: Often less crowded than MK and HS on weekdays. Popular attractions like Avatar Flight of Passage may require early Genie+ or rope drop, but lines generally move quickly once the park opens.

Some strategies to handle spring break crowds:

  • Prioritize your must-do rides at MK if you choose to start there and use early park entry if staying at a Disney resort.
  • Consider starting your MK visit on a day that is not Monday if possible, since Mondays are notoriously busy.
  • Use Genie+ or Lightning Lane options to reduce wait times for the most popular rides.
  • Plan for breaks during the peak afternoon hours when crowds are highest; pool time or resort activities can be a good way to rest.

In summary, while it’s possible to start with MK on Monday, it may be less stressful to visit a different park first and save MK for a less crowded day if your schedule allows. If MK is a must-do, arriving early and planning your Lightning Lane/Genie+ selections strategically will help maximize your day despite the spring break crowds.
