Tron vs 7DMT

With the new rope drop procedure and with Tron opening at normal open (lets say 9am) and 7DMT opening for resort guests a half our earlier, what is the recommended rope drop strategy? Is it somehow possible to do them both or will the wait be simply too long if we try to do 7DMT first and then jump into Tron ride.

Depending on those answers, if we have extended evening hours for deluxe resorts, would it make sense to skip one of those rides at rope drop and commit to doing it during the last 2 evening hours?

Hi there,

With the new rope drop procedure and considering Tron opening at the standard park opening time (9am) and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (7DMT) opening a half-hour earlier for resort guests, here’s the best strategy to make the most of your morning:

  • Option 1: Do Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (7DMT) first - Since 7DMT opens earlier for resort guests, you can get a jump on the crowds by heading straight to this ride. The line for 7DMT tends to build quickly, especially as the park officially opens. If you are staying at a resort that offers early entry, you’ll have a distinct advantage. After 7DMT, head directly to Tron. The wait for Tron is likely to be shorter in the early morning (right after opening), so you might be able to experience it before the lines grow too long.
  • Option 2: Do Tron first - Tron is a popular new attraction, but it’s worth noting that it is likely to have a shorter wait than 7DMT early in the day. If you're willing to take the risk of a slightly longer wait for 7DMT, you could opt to start with Tron. This will allow you to ride the newest attraction early before the crowds settle in.
  • Option 3: Skip one ride at rope drop and hit it during extended evening hours - If you’re staying at a deluxe resort with extended evening hours, you might consider skipping one of the rides during rope drop and instead hitting it later in the evening. During the extended hours, the lines for both Tron and 7DMT can be significantly shorter, and you'll likely have more time to enjoy the rides without the daytime crowds. If you’re more focused on riding both, doing one in the evening might be the better option to avoid a long wait during the morning rush.

Overall, your decision should depend on whether you prefer to experience the rides early in the day or during a quieter evening period. If you want to maximize your morning and do both rides, 7DMT first is probably the best option, then heading to Tron while the lines are still manageable.

If you're okay with the longer wait during the day, evening hours are a solid choice for a more relaxed experience, especially for those staying at deluxe resorts. Both rides are worth the effort, so it ultimately comes down to your personal preferences and schedule.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your time at the parks!
