Drive or uber

We are staying at Mandalay Bay and will have a car. We are seeing Mystere on a Monday night. Should we drive the car or take uber.

Simply, will there be a significant wait for the uber?

When deciding whether to drive or take an Uber to Mystère at the Treasure Island hotel, there are a few factors to consider. Both options are viable, but each comes with its own set of advantages and potential drawbacks, particularly regarding convenience and parking.

Driving

If you decide to drive, Mandalay Bay is located at the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip, and Treasure Island is towards the northern end. It’s about a 10-15 minute drive, depending on traffic, but the Strip can get busy, especially around performance times. Parking at Treasure Island is generally free, which is a plus. However, be aware that finding a spot may take a few minutes, particularly around showtimes when more guests are arriving.

Driving gives you more flexibility to leave when you want and head directly to the venue, but you will need to factor in potential traffic delays and parking time. Additionally, Las Vegas traffic can be unpredictable, particularly if there are events happening nearby.

Taking an Uber

Taking an Uber could be a more straightforward option if you prefer not to deal with parking. The wait for an Uber should be minimal, especially during non-peak hours, but it may take longer during busy times, such as around showtime. Since Mystère typically starts around 7:00 PM, expect some traffic congestion around that time, especially when large crowds are trying to get to shows on the Strip.

One advantage of using Uber is that you’ll be dropped off directly at the entrance of Treasure Island, so you won’t need to worry about finding a parking spot or walking long distances. If you're staying at Mandalay Bay, you’ll also avoid the hassle of walking through the resort and Strip traffic to your car.

Considerations for Uber Wait Times

  • If you’re heading out right before the show, expect some surge pricing and slightly longer wait times, especially if you're using Uber during a busy period.
  • If you leave the show a bit early (around 9:00 PM), Uber wait times may be shorter, and surge pricing is likely to be lower.
  • During quieter times (before 6 PM or after 9 PM), Uber will generally be faster and cheaper.

Summary

If you prefer convenience and avoid parking hassle, taking an Uber is a great option, especially if you don’t mind the potential slight wait. However, if you’d rather have more flexibility and enjoy the convenience of driving yourself, parking is typically available at Treasure Island, but you’ll need to plan for traffic and parking time.
