Please help me choose hotel?
Friends from LA celebrating a b'day on an April weekend. Looking for a lovely updated room and bathroom, great spa, fine dining. I'm spinning reading reviews from L'Auberge, Estancia La Jolla, Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.
Could somebody help me decide please? I'm sure each will have pluses and if the food isn't great but the rooms are, we can easily head elsewhere for dinner. Grateful for advice from a local! Thank you in advance,
All three properties you’re considering—L’Auberge Del Mar, Estancia La Jolla, and Inn at Rancho Santa Fe—offer luxury accommodations, but they each have slightly different vibes, amenities, and experiences. Here’s a detailed breakdown to help you decide:
L’Auberge Del Mar:
- Located right in Del Mar, steps from the beach and downtown shops.
- Rooms are modern, stylish, and updated, often with ocean views.
- The spa is highly rated with a serene ambiance and comprehensive treatments.
- Fine dining available onsite, and there are also many restaurants within walking distance in Del Mar village.
- Perfect choice if you want a coastal setting with easy access to the beach and nightlife.
Estancia La Jolla:
- Set on 10 acres with beautiful gardens, giving a more resort-like, tranquil feel.
- Rooms are spacious with traditional California ranch-style decor.
- The spa is excellent, with a variety of treatments and a peaceful courtyard setting.
- Onsite dining is good but somewhat formal; La Valencia and other nearby restaurants in La Jolla offer more options.
- Best for those wanting a quiet, luxurious retreat in a semi-rural setting while still being close to La Jolla’s attractions.
Inn at Rancho Santa Fe:
- Set in a historic, exclusive Rancho Santa Fe neighborhood with a boutique inn charm.
- Rooms are elegant, classic, and recently updated with luxury finishes.
- Spa and wellness options are excellent, but the property is smaller, giving a more intimate experience.
- Dining is refined and intimate; for more variety you may need to drive to nearby Encinitas or Del Mar.
- Ideal if you prefer a private, serene setting with luxury and historic charm over a bustling resort vibe.
Other considerations:
- If beach access and a lively weekend vibe matter most: L’Auberge Del Mar.
- If you prefer lush gardens, a resort feel, and proximity to La Jolla’s upscale shops: Estancia La Jolla.
- If you prioritize privacy, historic ambiance, and an intimate luxury feel: Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.
For a birthday weekend, L’Auberge gives the most energy and easy access to dining and entertainment, while Estancia or Rancho Santa Fe would be more about relaxing, pampering, and enjoying the property itself.
