Parking for a conference

Hi

I am coming for a conference in April at the conference center. My husband is joining me and would like to rent a car to wander while I’m in the conference. The daily parking at hotels is $60 up per day.

Are there more reasonable options around or any other suggestions?

I am open to stating a little further away from conference center if the place has a view and free parking .open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Denver’s downtown conference areas, especially near the Colorado Convention Center, are known for high parking rates, often $50–$70 per day at hotels. However, there are several ways to save or find more reasonable options while still enjoying convenience and a nice stay.

Here are some strategies and options:

  • Hotels slightly outside downtown: Consider staying a few blocks or neighborhoods away where hotels often include free or lower-cost parking. Areas like LoDo (Lower Downtown), RiNo, or even Capitol Hill sometimes have properties with complimentary parking and still offer short Uber/taxi rides to the convention center.
  • Park & Ride / Public Transit: Denver has an efficient light rail system. You could park at a station with free or inexpensive daily parking (like Denver Union Station or other park-and-ride lots) and take the light rail or a short ride-share to downtown. This can save $30–$50 per day.
  • City garages and lots: Off-street garages and surface lots in Denver’s central areas are often cheaper than hotel parking. For example, some public garages charge around $15–$25 per day if you reserve in advance through apps like SpotHero or ParkWhiz.
  • Hotels with view and included parking: Some boutique or slightly farther hotels may offer free parking and a pleasant view. Examples could include:
    • Hyatt Place Denver/Downtown – sometimes includes complimentary parking in packages.
    • Residence Inn or Homewood Suites near downtown – usually offer free parking and extended stay amenities.
    • Hotels along the South Broadway or LoDo area – slightly farther but often quieter and may have rooftop views.

Tips for booking:

  • Check apps like SpotHero or ParkWhiz to reserve discounted parking close to your hotel or the convention center.
  • Consider using ride-share for downtown travel if parking at the hotel is expensive. Sometimes paying $15–$20 per Uber each way can be cheaper than $60 daily parking.
  • Some hotels will validate or offer partial reimbursement for nearby parking if you ask, especially for conference attendees.

In summary, staying a bit outside the immediate convention center area can save a lot on parking and still keep you within 5–10 minutes by Uber or public transit. Combining an inexpensive garage with a hotel that has a view or free parking is likely your best balance between cost and convenience.
