Where to eat when flying into Pensacola?

We will be heading to Gulf Shores and usually stop at the Hip Pocket deli for a great sandwich. It's closed on Saturdays and I'm really disappointed! So now looking for a late lunch on the way to Gulf Shores. Thanks for any help

Pensacola has several excellent spots for a late lunch if you’re heading toward Gulf Shores and your usual stop at Hip Pocket Deli is closed. While the area is known for its fresh seafood, there are also great sandwich shops, casual American fare, and Southern-style restaurants along the route.

Here are some recommendations to consider for a satisfying late lunch:

  • McGuire’s Irish Pub: Famous for its hearty sandwiches and steaks, McGuire’s has a fun, lively atmosphere and generous portions. Their Reuben or corned beef sandwiches are crowd favorites.
  • Global Grill: Located near downtown Pensacola, this casual spot offers a mix of sandwiches, salads, and seafood. Their blackened fish sandwich is highly recommended.
  • Jaco’s Bayfront Bar & Grille: Situated along the Pensacola waterfront, Jaco’s serves seafood, sandwiches, and burgers with a great view. Perfect for a relaxed stop before heading east.
  • Five Sisters Blues Café: If you’re in the mood for Southern comfort food, this local favorite offers sandwiches, po’boys, and fried chicken in a casual, welcoming environment.
  • Native Café: A small, health-conscious café offering sandwiches, wraps, and fresh salads, ideal if you want something lighter before continuing your drive.

If you don’t mind going slightly off the interstate, these spots give you a true local taste without the chain restaurant feel. For convenience, McGuire’s or Jaco’s Bayfront are easiest to reach and have quick service while still providing a fun and satisfying experience.
