Hi,
Planning to visit LA during first week of March with family, kids.
Wanted to spend two days in Santa Monica but not sure if the area has opened fully post the tragic fires. Also, wanted to know if uber works for drop -pick from the pier area to downtown.
Kindly advice. Thanks in advance.
Santa Monica is a vibrant destination for families and, as of early March, the area has largely reopened following any past fire-related closures. Most of the main attractions, including the Santa Monica Pier, Pacific Park amusement area, the aquarium, and nearby shopping/dining areas along the Third Street Promenade, are fully operational. While some smaller streets or specific local businesses may still be recovering, the key tourist spots are ready for visitors.
Transportation in Santa Monica is very convenient. Uber and other rideshare services operate reliably in the area, including pick-ups and drop-offs at the Pier. It’s also easy to get a ride from Santa Monica to downtown Los Angeles. Depending on traffic, this trip usually takes about 30–45 minutes, but mornings and evenings can be busier.
Here are some tips and options to maximize your visit:
For transport logistics:
Overall, two full days in Santa Monica will allow your family to enjoy the beaches, Pier, shops, and scenic walks without feeling rushed. Using Uber or Lyft for longer trips to downtown or other LA areas is reliable and recommended for convenience, especially with kids.
