Loz Feliz from Hollywood

We will be staying 3 nights in Hollywood in April. I know that a lot of the restaurants in that area are touristy / chain places, and the added complication is that we need gluten free options. So I was thinking of going to Los Feliz at least once as there seems to be some nice restaurants there.

My question is, is it safe and sensible to use a bus to get to Los Feliz (google tells me bus 2 or 217) or should we just get an Uber / taxi?
