Heelow,
I am staying at The Rubenstein Hotel, 104 St Charles Ave for 4 days during Mardi Gras. They don't offer vallet parking. I think parking around the hotel might be up during that time. I am thinking of parking at the Airport's long-term economy parking and taking an uber to the hotel. Any other alternatives?
It sounds like you're planning for a busy time during Mardi Gras, so you're right to think parking might be challenging! Given that The Rubenstein Hotel doesn't offer valet parking, here are a few alternatives you could consider for parking during your stay:
1. Airport Long-Term Economy Parking: Parking at the airport's long-term economy lot and taking an Uber to the hotel is definitely a viable option. It’s economical, and while the Uber ride will add some cost (about 20–30 minutes), it can be a convenient way to avoid the hassle of parking downtown during Mardi Gras. Just keep in mind that long-term parking lots can fill up quickly during busy travel times, so make sure to arrive early if you decide on this option.
2. Parking Garages Near the Hotel: While parking in the immediate area might be challenging, there are a few parking garages around St. Charles Avenue where you could park and walk to the hotel. Some options include:
3. Street Parking (with Restrictions): During Mardi Gras, street parking can be very tricky, especially near parade routes. However, you may still find metered parking if you're willing to check multiple spots. Be aware that parking rules can change during Mardi Gras, and some areas may be restricted due to parades, so always double-check signs to avoid fines.
4. Rideshare or Public Transportation: Given the crowds and parking difficulty during Mardi Gras, another option might be to rely on rideshare services like Uber or Lyft for the duration of your stay. If you prefer public transportation, the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line is convenient and inexpensive, making it an easy way to get around the city.
5. Hotel Parking Options: While The Rubenstein does not offer valet parking, some hotels in the area may allow you to park in their lots or garages for a fee. You might want to check with your hotel to see if they have any partnerships or arrangements with nearby hotels that offer parking. Some hotels in the area may even offer valet services during Mardi Gras, though availability may be limited.
Whatever option you choose, I recommend reserving parking in advance if possible, as Mardi Gras crowds can make last-minute parking difficult to find. Also, be prepared for some walking, as you'll likely need to park a bit further from your hotel than usual. Enjoy your time in New Orleans during Mardi Gras—it's an exciting and festive experience!
