Activity

This doesnt seem to be a very active forum. Staying two nights at Guy Harvey. Maybe eat at Mango Mango and Sunset Grill. Any really good breakfast spot? We have previously stayed in old Town and covered a lot of ground. Would just like to explore the barrier island. Any other suggestions?

Staying at Guy Harvey Resort on Saint Augustine Beach gives you a great base to explore the barrier island without needing to drive into historic downtown again. Since you’re focusing on relaxing and enjoying local spots, there are several good options for breakfast, casual exploring, and scenic activities.

Breakfast Spots:

  • Flagler's Beachfront Cafe: Located near the beach, this is a popular spot for fresh, hearty breakfast fare with ocean views.
  • Jungle Java Cafe: A cozy, local café known for excellent coffee, smoothies, and breakfast sandwiches. Great for a light start to your day.
  • The Kookaburra: Slightly further north, this Australian-style coffee shop has amazing lattes and breakfast treats, including avocado toast and pastries.

Activities & Exploring on the Barrier Island:

  • Beach Walks and Shelling: Saint Augustine Beach is great for a morning or sunset stroll. Look for shells, and watch for sea turtles if visiting in nesting season (May–October).
  • Ponte Vedra / Vilano Beach Day Trip: Just a short drive north, these beaches are quieter and scenic, perfect for a peaceful walk or photo ops.
  • Kayaking or Paddleboarding: Several local outfitters rent kayaks or paddleboards for exploring the Intracoastal Waterway or the ocean side. This is a relaxing way to see the natural beauty of the area.
  • Fishing or Boat Tours: Saint Augustine Beach offers small fishing charters and eco-tours that showcase local wildlife like dolphins and manatees.
  • Local Art and Shops: Check out the nearby Beach Boulevard shops and galleries for a casual browsing experience.

Since you’ve already done the historic downtown, these options give you a more relaxed and nature-oriented way to enjoy the area. Early morning beach visits followed by a breakfast café visit, and perhaps an afternoon kayak or short boat tour, make for a pleasant itinerary for a two-night stay.
