Shanghai F1 Circuit - tour?

Hi

Is it possible to tour the F1 circuit outside of race days? I can find some information saying to just go and tours run all day but tickets are only available onsite, however these are old posts.

many thanks

The Shanghai International Circuit, home of the Chinese Grand Prix, does offer access outside race days, but the options are more limited compared to race weekends.

Tour availability:

  • Guided tours of the circuit are available, but they are usually scheduled in advance rather than open all day. It’s not guaranteed that you can just show up for a tour on any given day.
  • Some older posts mentioning tickets being available onsite may no longer be accurate. Most tours now require advance booking through the official circuit website or authorized tour operators.
  • Self-guided visits without entering the paddock or pit areas are possible in certain public areas, such as around the grandstands or outside the main entrance, but this won’t give the full behind-the-scenes experience.

Tips for visiting:

  • Check the official Shanghai International Circuit website for updated tour schedules and ticketing options.
  • Booking through tour agencies in Shanghai can provide packages including transportation, guided access, and sometimes souvenir items.
  • If you plan to go outside a race weekend, be aware that areas like the pit lane, paddock, and garages are usually closed except during official tours.
  • Weekdays may have fewer visitors, making it easier to enjoy photography and the grandstand areas, even if the full tour is limited.

In summary, it is possible to tour the Shanghai F1 Circuit outside race days, but tours are not open all day and tickets generally require advance booking. For casual visits, you can explore accessible public areas, but the full behind-the-scenes experience is only available with scheduled tours.
