Quiet Hotel in FLL

Need suggestions on where to stay in FLL. We're heading to Chase stadium, but that is the only thing on the agenda. We would like to experience the beach of course but would love to avoid (as much as possible) the overly crowded/popular areas. I understand it's March, but I'm sure there are areas with more traffic than others!? I have a few hotels in mind, 1. JW Marriott Turnberry.....2. The Atlantic Hotel and Spa.....3. The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach....4. Pelican Grand.

We have a 7 and 10 y.o and would love it if the hotel had a tennis/basketball court or something other than a pool.

Any ideas/suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you!

For a quieter stay in Fort Lauderdale in March while still having access to the beach and activities for your kids, your choices all have merits but vary significantly in location and atmosphere. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

JW Marriott Turnberry Resort & Spa: Located in Aventura, a bit north of Fort Lauderdale proper, this resort is sprawling and more secluded. It offers excellent family amenities including multiple pools, a golf course, and tennis courts, which makes it ideal if you want activities beyond just the pool. It’s quieter than the main beach strip, but a bit of a drive to Fort Lauderdale Beach or Chase Stadium.

The Atlantic Hotel and Spa: This boutique-style hotel is on a quieter section of Fort Lauderdale Beach. It’s smaller and more intimate, which helps avoid the crowds, and is just a short walk to the sand. While it has a pool and spa, it may not have tennis or basketball courts, so if those activities are a priority, this might be limiting for your kids.

The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach: Located right on the main beach strip, this hotel is closer to restaurants and shops but will be busier, especially in March. It has a pool and direct beach access, but limited other sports facilities. It’s convenient for beach access but less ideal if your main goal is peace and quiet.

Pelican Grand Beach Resort: Situated in a quieter, northern part of Fort Lauderdale Beach, this hotel has a charming, family-friendly vibe. It offers a pool, beach access, and a daily “beachside” atmosphere without the high density of traffic and crowds found further south. Like the Atlantic, it may not have extensive tennis or basketball facilities, but it strikes a good balance between tranquility and accessibility.

  • If quiet and family-friendly amenities like tennis are most important: JW Marriott Turnberry is the top choice.
  • If you want direct beach access with a quieter atmosphere, without prioritizing sports courts: Pelican Grand or The Atlantic Hotel and Spa.
  • If you want to be in the heart of Fort Lauderdale Beach and don’t mind crowds: The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach.

Additional considerations:

  • March is spring break season, so the southern part of Fort Lauderdale Beach (near Las Olas) can be busy. Staying north (Pelican Grand) or inland (JW Marriott) will help avoid this.
  • All options are within reasonable driving distance to Chase Stadium, but Turnberry is the farthest and will add about 20–30 minutes of travel.
  • Check with hotels about temporary or seasonal closures of sports facilities; sometimes tennis courts may have reservations required or limited hours.

Overall, for your mix of quiet beach experience and active family amenities, JW Marriott Turnberry is ideal for sports activities and space, while Pelican Grand offers a quieter beachside experience closer to the action but still calm enough for family relaxation.
