Immigration queues

We are arriving at 16.45 on a Saturday from the uk , what are queues like and do you think we will be in our hotel before 8pm, I know it’s all about how many planes land at a time , but is there always long queues

Arriving at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) at 16:45 on a Saturday from the UK, you'll likely encounter a moderate amount of traffic at immigration, but it’s not usually overwhelming. However, the queues can be unpredictable depending on factors like the number of international flights arriving around the same time. Since it’s a Saturday, it’s possible that there might be a higher volume of flights, as weekends tend to see more international travel.

In terms of timing, here’s what you can generally expect:

  • Immigration queues: Boston Logan is relatively efficient, but during peak times (like late afternoon and evening), there can be long waits. On average, immigration can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour, but this could vary depending on the number of international arrivals at the time.
  • Customs processing: After clearing immigration, you’ll still need to go through customs. This process is usually quick, but it can add an additional 10-15 minutes.
  • Time to hotel: Once you clear immigration and customs, getting to your hotel will depend on traffic and the distance. If you're staying in central Boston, it typically takes around 20-30 minutes by taxi or ride-share from Logan Airport to most hotels. However, traffic around 5-7 PM can be a bit heavy, particularly on weekends.

Considering all the factors, it’s feasible to be at your hotel by 8 PM, but it’s a close call. If everything goes smoothly at immigration and customs, and you don’t encounter heavy traffic, you could make it to your hotel in time. However, if there are any delays at immigration or with traffic, it may be tight. To be safe, I would recommend factoring in a little extra time just in case.

If you’re worried about timing, you could also look into services like Global Entry (if you're eligible) to expedite your entry through immigration and customs. This would make your experience smoother and potentially save you a lot of time.

Safe travels, and hope you have a great stay in Boston!
