Hi- we are staying at the Drury Inn and plan to just walk to the French Quarter. It looks to be about a 20 minute walk. I have a few questions.
Is there a lot of stuff to see, shops to stop at, etc. on the way to the French Quarter? Any recommendations of places to stop at on the way? Cool shops, bars, resturaunts.
Is the distance safe to walk at night?
Open to all suggestions within a 20 minute walk from the Drury Inn. Our plan is to just start walking and stop when we see something cool, but would love recommendations.
Thanks!

On your way to the French Quarter, there are a few neighborhoods and spots that are definitely worth a stop. Here are some recommendations for cool shops, bars, and restaurants along the way:
As for safety, the walk from the Drury Inn to the French Quarter is generally safe, especially during the daytime. The area around Poydras Street is well-trafficked, and the French Quarter itself is busy and popular with tourists, so you'll see a lot of people on the streets, even at night. However, it’s always wise to stay aware of your surroundings, especially if you're walking late at night. Stick to well-lit streets and avoid quiet or less trafficked areas.
Overall, the walk is safe and offers plenty of opportunities to explore. If you’re up for it, it’s a great way to experience the city. Start walking and see where your curiosity takes you—you'll probably stumble upon some fantastic spots along the way!
