4th of July fireworks
Aloha! We are staying at the Aulani over the 4th Of July and looking for recommendations on where to go to see fireworks? We were told Pearl Harbor but I can’t seem to find info about that online other than for military. Thanks for any suggestions! We will have kids with us ages toddler to teen.
Celebrating the 4th of July on Oahu with kids is fun, and there are several great places to view fireworks that are family-friendly. While Pearl Harbor hosts military events, public fireworks are usually not held there. Instead, consider these options around the island:
- Waikiki / Honolulu area: Ala Moana Beach Park hosts one of the largest public fireworks shows on the island. Arrive early to secure a good spot, as it can get crowded. The show typically starts around 8:00 or 8:30 PM.
- Magic Island / Ala Moana Beach Park: A favorite for families, Magic Island offers open grassy areas where kids can run around before the show. Parking can be limited, so consider carpooling or public transit.
- Kailua / Windward Coast: Some resorts and local parks in Kailua host smaller displays. These tend to be less crowded and can be a nice alternative if you want a quieter experience with younger children.
- Resort-hosted events: Many resorts, including Aulani, may have their own fireworks shows or special events for guests. Check with the concierge for scheduled activities; these are often the most convenient option with toddlers and young children.
Tips for enjoying fireworks with kids:
- Arrive early to claim a good spot and set up blankets, chairs, and snacks.
- Bring ear protection for toddlers and sensitive kids, as fireworks can be loud.
- Consider parking or shuttle options ahead of time to avoid congestion.
- Check the weather forecast—July evenings can be warm, but light rain or wind may affect the show.
Overall, Ala Moana Beach Park is the most popular public spot with spectacular views, but resort events like those at Aulani can provide a stress-free, kid-friendly experience without the crowds.
